Studies on Synchronization Techniques for Power Saving of DVB-H Terminal (DVB-H 수신기의 전력소모감소를 위한 동기화 기법에 관한 연구)

  • 이 연구는 DVB-H 수신기의 전력소모를 줄이기 위한 새로운 동기방법을 제안하였다. DVB-H 시스템에서는 수신기의 전력소모글 줄이기 위하여 Time-Slicing 방법을 사용하는데 버스트 주기가 작을수록 수신기의 유효동작시간 이 줄어들게 되어 전력소모가 감소된다. 수신기의 유효동작시간에는 버스트를 동기화하기 위한 시간이 포함되므로 이 동기화시간을 줄이면 DVB-H 수신기의 전력소모를 줄일 수 있다. 제안방식은 한 프레임(68개 OFDM 심볼) 또는 연속된 5개의 OFDM 심볼을 이용하는 기존방식과 달리 이전 수신버스트의 OFDM 심볼 네 개 또는 송신기의 OFDM 심볼 네 개와 현재 수신되는 심볼 1개를 사용하기 때문에 동기시간을 1/68 또는 1/5 까지 줄일 수 있다. 제안방식의 강건성을 분석하기 위하여 다양한 이동수신 채널환경에서 최소보호비를 구하여 기존 방식과 비교 분석하였다.

Design of Microprocessor Controlled Spectrum Analyzer (마이크로 프로세서 제어에 의한 스펙트럼 분석 장치의 설계)

  • In the proposed spectrum analyzer, open-loop VCO is replaced with PLL synthesizer incorporating digital frequency synthesizer using modulofunction for measuring precise frequencys. Three different frequency bands and channel spacings are realized by single loop synthesizer through the effective design of the system. The newly designed system with square detection has a good linearity of input range from 10mV to 8.5V, as a result the input sensitivity has been improved up to 500uV. The storage function enables us to analyze not only periodic but also nonperiodic wave-form and zoom-in function expands frequency resolution eight times for the dense spectra.

App-based 2-channel User Authentication Scheme for Multiple Application Systems (다중 응용시스템용 앱기반 2-채널 사용자 인증방안)

  • Currently, the user authentication technology used by users to access multiple applications within an organization is being applied with ID/PW-based SSO technology. These user authentication methods have the fundamental disadvantages of ID/PW and SSO. This means that security vulnerabilities in ID/PW can lead to periodic changes in PWs and limits on the number of incorrect PW inputs, and SSO adds high cost of the SSO server, which centrally stores the authentication information, etc. There is also a fundamental vulnerability that allows others to freely use other people's applications when they leave the portal application screen with SSO. In this paper, we proposed an app-based 2-channel authentication scheme to fundamentally eliminate problems with existing ID/PW-based SSO user authentication technologies. To this end, it distributed centralized user authentication information that is stored on SSO server to each individual's smartphone. In addition, when users access a particular application, they are required to be authenticated through their own smartphone apps.

  • 전형적인 센서 네트워크는 사용자, 싱크 그리고 센서들로 구성되며, 사용자와 싱크간은 기반 망으로 연결되어 있음을 가정한다. 그러나, 재난지역이나 전투지역에서의 실제 사용자들은 기반 망이 없는 밀집 된 센서 영역 내부를 이동하면서 다양한 정보를 받아 임무 수행할 수 있기를 원한다. 따라서, 사용자와 싱크 간 센서 노드만이 통신 채널로 유일하게 존재하는 상황에서 사용자의 이동성 지원이 필요 된다. 다중의 정적 싱크 기반 센서 망 구조에서 사용자의 이동성이 고려된 네트워크에서 사용자가 원하는 다양한 정보를 얻고자 하여 싱크에게 쿼리를 보냈을 때 각 싱크는 정보를 찾고자 한다. 기존 제안된 알고리즘들은 하나의 패킷에 수많은 쿼리를 담아 주기적인 메시지 전송을 요구하기 때문에 에너지 효율성이 떨어진다. 이에, 본 논문에서는 싱크가 정보를 찾고자 할 때 시간 동기화 기법을 사용하여 에너지 소모를 다소 줄이고자 한다. 각각의 싱크에 수많은 쿼리를 할당하여 원하는 정보를 찾도록 하는 임무로 플러딩할 때 패킷에 실어야 하는 값을 최소화 하여 에너지 효율성과 속도를 빠르게 하여 네트워크 수명을 연장하는 장점을 갖는다. 마지막으로 시뮬레이션시에 검증할 매트릭스와 향후 연구방향을 제시한다.

Adaptive Multi-Tap Equalization for Removing ICI Caused by Transmitter Power Transient in LTE Uplink System (LTE 상향 링크 시스템에서 송신기의 전력 과도 현상에 의해 발생하는 ICI를 제거하기 위한 적응적 멀티 탭 등화 기법)

  • This paper studies a method for reducing performance degradation due to losing sub-carrier orthogonality caused by power transient between physical channels in LTE uplink transmission. The pattern of inter-carrier interference(ICI) caused by power transient is different from what has been studied for doppler shift, in that its pattern occurs at front and rear sides of channels in each period of power transient. The reason of ICI's occurrence results from power difference between channels, power transient duration, multi-path channel delay spread, and numbers of sub-carrier. New criterion is proposed to find out number of taps of multi-tap equalizer enough to improve the ICI. The scheme is to determine the number of taps of multi-tap equalizer when a normalized interference or a normalized ICI is greater than a normalized noise. Simulation results show that the number of taps is flexibly adjusted according to SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio) of a received signal to improve Bit Error Rate(BER), while the complexity of the proposed scheme is reduced down to 88 percentage of the classical method.

  • Quick and safe message transmission is an important research topic of vehicular ad hoc networks (VANET). Most studies assume that the periodic broadcast of beacon-frames between vehicles increases the safety of the driver. In this paper, we propose a medium access control (MAC) protocol and location-based clustering for the VANET to support reliable data transfer. In our proposal, the cluster heade (CH) manage the access and allocate the resources of the node. Our proposal uses simulation to confirm the reduction of the transmission delay and the collision rate of the signal.

A Design of a Data Predistorter for the Compensation of Nonlinearities in High Power Amplifiers for Satellite Communication (위성통신용 고출력 증폭기의 비선형성 보상을 위한 데이터 Predistorter의 설계)

  • It has been known that the amplifiers for high power signal in satellite communication channels suffer from nonlinear distortions, which reduce the performance of the communication channel significantly. In order to compensate the nonlinear distortion, a new data predistortion method with the LMS algorithm is proposed in this paper, Whereas the previous approach handles this problem by assigning corresponding predistorter to each symbol for the case of 16-QAM, the proposed approach uses the same memory for the symbols, which have identical amplitudes, and predistors the input of high-power amplifiers by the amplitude and phase differences, resulting in better adaptive data predistorter with small number of digital memory (3 predistorters) and fast convergence rate. Superiority of the proposed approach in the paper is demonstrated by comparing it with the previous approach.

Design of Multi-channel Anti-Fouling System for Marine Traffic Facilities (해양교통시설물용 다채널 AFS 설계)

  • Recently, there are active research activities regarding to power systems of marine traffic facilities using a hybrid generation system which includes a photovoltaic generation system and a wave power generation system. However, when the marine traffic system is operated on a maritime environment for a substantial period of time, it was reported that the shellfish was adhered inside the water column. To tackle this problem, researches on the AFS (Anti-Fouling System) are on the progress. However, use of the single channel AFS resulted in frequent replacement of anode. Thus, the paper proposes a multi-channel method on AFS and experiments have been taken place correspondently. To improve the reliability of the experiment, the melting anode result was applied to our simulation program. The outcome of the simulation illustrates that the proposed multi-channel AFS's anode in the buoy have been ionized equally.

  • A Wireless Access for Vehicular Environment (WAVE) system based on Orthogonal frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is made for vehicle to vehicle wireless communications. The physical layer standard of the WAVE system is very similar to that of the IEEE802.1la wireless local area network (WLAN). Therefore, the performance of the WAVE system is degraded by continual timing delay in the WAVE multipath fading channels after starting initial timing synchronization. In this paper, the tracking algorithm that synchronizes symbol timing is proposed to continually compensate additional timing delay. Computer simulation of the proposed algorithm is performed in the worst communication environments that apply to maximum timing delay. Computer simulation shows that the proposed algorithm can improve the system performance in various channel conditions.

  • In land mobile communication, very extensive studies on pilot symbol assisted modulation (PSAM) have been made on fading compensation. This paper analyzes the effect of power amplifier nonlinearity on PSA-QAM with maximal ratio combining space diversity. In practical PSAM, information on fading is obtained through interpolation of the pilot symbols. We employed the interpolation filter which could minimize the average power of error and analyzed effects on the system performance of the number of filter taps, period of the pilot symbol frame, and the Doppler frequency. Nonlinear power amplifiers of class AB, B, and C were incorporated in the system models and their AM/AM and AM/PM characteristics were taken into account in the performance analysis. We showed the performance variations according to the types of the nonlinear power amplifiers in the AWGN and Rayleigh fading channels using nonlinear compensation technique, Cartesian Feedback Loop (CFB).
