Individual Vehicle Level Detector Evaluation with Application of Traceability and Confidence Interval Concepts (소급성과 신뢰구간 개념을 적용한 개별차량단위 검지기 성능평가)

  • Due to the importance of vehicle detector which plays an essential role in generating real-life traffic information, maintaining detector data quality is preeminent in advanced traffic management and information systems (ATMIS). To this end, agencies periodically conduct performance tests on detectors. Detector evaluation is generally performed by comparing baseline data with corresponding detector data. Here, two important things need to be addressed; one is errors (or uncertainties) included in baseline data and the other is the confidence interval concept to represent evaluation results of sample data to corresponding ones of population. To resolve these problems, a new detector evaluation scheme is introduced and the scheme is applied to individual level detector evaluations of loop, video image, and radar detectors. The purpose of individual level evaluation is to eliminate the balancing (or cancelling-out) effects of over- and under-counts. As a consequence, the proposed scheme is proven to be effectively applied to real-world detector evaluations.

Development and Evaluation of a Left-Turn Actuated Traffic Signal Control Strategy using Image Detectors (영상검지기를 이용한 좌회전 감응식 신호제어전략 개발)

  • This paper discusses a method for optimizing the semi-actuated traffic signal control system by adjusting the initial interval according to the number of vehicles waiting for the green light in the actuated phase. We also present a Left-Turn actuated traffic signal control strategy that examines the vehicular noise in the detection area and determines the phase extension and the gap-out. In order to detect the vehicles in real-time, an image detector's Video Image Tracking technology was adopted. A 'Zone in Zone'method was implemented, and the image detection area is segmented into three zones: 1) Zone1 for verifying a vehicles obligatory presence, 2) Zone2 for counting the standby vehicles, and 3) Zone3 for examining the number of vehicles that have passed. The on-site assessment of the Left Turn Actuated Control is carried out using CORSIM, and the results show that the Control Delay decreased by 23.10%, 15.06%, and 4.34% compared to the delays resulted from pre-timed control, semi-actuated control-1 and semi-actuated control-2 traffic signal control systems respectively. The Queue Time also decreased by 36.24%, 20.10% and the Total Time by 14.36%, 7.02% for the same scenario. Which clearly demonstrates the operational efficiency. A sensitivity analysis reveals that the improvement from the propose traffic control strategy tends to increase as the through traffic volume reaches a saturated condition and the left-turn traffic volume decreases.

  • 본 논문에서는 철도차량의 능동조향시스템 연구를 위한 축소 조향대차의 장애물 검지시스템 구축에 대여 연구하였다. 철도차량에서 능동조향이란 곡선부 주행 시 차륜/레일 접촉에 의한 승차감 저하 및 차륜/레일의 마모와 소음을 줄이고, 고속주행을 위한 조향성능 및 주행안정성을 확보하기 위한 휠셋의 제어기술이다. 따라서 논문에서는 조향제어전략 및 제어기법을 연구하기 위한 축소 차량모델(견인대차와 조향대차로 구성)의 개발과정으로서 자동운전을 위한 장애물 검지시스템에 대한 연구를 수행하였으며 주행실험을 통해 그 성능을 검증하였다.

A Study on the Performance Characteristics of Image Vehicle Detectors Depending on the Environment (환경에 따른 영상식 차량검지기의 성능 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The most typical method to generate traffic information is installing vehicle detectors and collecting various traffic variables. The information collection accuracy of a vehicle detector affects the reliability of the generated traffic information. The most universal vehicle detector is an image detector. This study installed a magnetic detector in the same position as an image detector and evaluated the accuracy of traffic volume and speed data depending on a variety of environment. Based on the evaluation, more errors occurred as the image detector was placed farther from the camera, whereas more errors were found to occur during the night rather than the day. Although rainfall did not affect the collection of traffic volume, it negatively affected speed data collection. Therefore, an analysis of the camera's view angle and its optimization depending on the camera installation position and height are required to enhance the currently operated image detector performance. It is judged that a separate performance evaluation criterion should be prepared in a bad weather environment.

Development of Algorithms for Four-quadrant Gate System and Obstacle Detection Systems at Crossings (철도건널목 지장물·진입위반차량 검지시스템 및 4분할 차단 알고리즘 개발)

  • This research revealed the operation problems of the current crossing control systems through inspecting and testing the obstacle detection systems and gate control systems for the crossings. To resolve the problems of the crossing control systems, this research developed new algorithms of four-quadrant gate system and obstacle detection systems combing the functions of rasar sensors and magnetic sensors and tested the reliability of the systems. Currently, the obstacle detection systems and gate control systems controls approaching and departing traffic by simply detecting vehicles and obstacles but do not consider traffic movements at the crossings. In addition, they do not make signal cooperation for gate controls. As a result, such inefficient crossing controls result in unsafe gate controls for drivers. Therefore, the newly developed crossing control systems through this study will provide more effective crossing control services with more strengthen information cooperation within control systems. Besides they will help to reduce train crashes at the crossings by gate control systems considering various driving behaviors.

  • 차종구분의 필요성은 교통공학 및 계획분야에서 교통패턴을 파악할 필요가 있으며 도로의 포장설계와 같은 구조적 측면, 교통관련자료구축 등에서도 중요하다. 현재 국내에서 운영중에 있는 각종검지기 체계들은 외국에서 개발한 체계로서 여러 가지 다양한 센서를 복합구성하여 차종을 구분하는 고가의 장비들이다. 이에 대한 국내의 연구사례는 극히 드물다고 볼 수 있다. 지금까지 주를 이룬 국내 연구사례를 보면 루프검지기를 이용한 차종구분이 주를 이루고 있다. 현재 루프검지기의 대체검지기(영상검지기, 자석검지기)개발이 활발히 진행되고 있으며 본 연구에서 이용되는 검지기는 자석검지기로서 루프검지기에 비하여 설치가 간단하고 파손의 우려가 적으며 유지관리 및 보수가 손쉽고 비용면에서도 저렴하다는 것이 장점이라 하겠다. 이에 최근에 개발되어진 단일 자석검지기를 이용한 실시간 차종인식 알고리즘을 개발하고, 현장실험을 통한 현장 적용성을 검토한다. 고속도로에 설치되어 있는 자석검지기를 이용하여 자료를 수집하며 분석에 이용되는 자료는 개별차량에 대하여 자속밀도의 변화를 주파수값으로 변환한 Digital Data값이다. 그 수치를 토대로 각 차량의 점유시간을 파악하여 각 차량의 점유시간동안 파형의 특징을 추출하여 각 특징들을 기초로 하여 각 차량이 나타내는 고유의 파형을 식별하는 패턴인식 방법으로 접근한다. 본 연구에서는 검지기 매설장소의 유한성 및 연구대상 도로의 특성으로 인하여 다양한 차종의 자료수집이 용이하지 못하여 시험가능한 자료수가 많은 차종을 대상으로 분석한다. 차종인식 알고리즘상의 차종분류는 건설교통부 차종분류기준에 따라 우선 구분이 확실한 차종으로 나눈후 단계적으로 세부적 차종분류로 접근한다.의 영향들을 고려함으로써 가로망 설계 과정에서 가로망의 상반된 역할인 이동성과 접근성의 비교가 가능한 보다 현실적인 가로망 설계 모형을 구축하고자 한다. 지금까지 소개된 가로망 설계모형들은 용량변화에 대한 설계변수의 형태에 따라 이산적 가로망 설계 모형과 연속적 가로망 설계모형으로 나뉘어지게 된다. 본 논문의 경우, 계산속도의 향상 측면에서는 연속적 가로망 설계 모형을 도입할 수 있지만, 이때 요구되는 도로용량이 이산적인 변수(차선 수)로 결정되어야만 신호제어 변수를 결정할 수 있기 때문에, 이산적 가로망 설계 모형이 사용된다. 하지만, 이산적 설계모형의 경우 조합최적화 문제이므로 정확한 최적해를 구하기 위해서는 상당한 시간이 소요되며, 경우에 따라서는 국부 최적해에 빠지게 된다. 이러한 문제를 극복하기 위해, 우선 이상적 모형의 근사화, 혹은 조합최적화문제를 위해 개발된 Simulated Annealing기법의 적용, 연속적 모형의 변수를 이산화하는 방법 등 다양한 모형들을 고려해 본 뒤, 적절한 모형을 적용할 것이다. 가로망 설계 모형에서 신호제어를 고려하기 위해서는 주어진 가로망에 대한 통행 배정과정에서 고려되는 통행시간을 링크통행시간과 교차로 지체시간을 동시에 고려해야 하는데, 이러한 문제의 해결을 위해서 최근 활발히 논의되고 있는 교차로에서의 신호제어에 대응하는 통행배정 모형을 도입하여 고려하고자 한다. 이를 위해서 지금까지 연구되어온 Global Solution Approach와 Iterative Approach를 비교, 검토한 뒤 모형에 보다 알맞은 방법을 선택한다. 차량의 교차로 통행을 고려하는 performance function의 경우 비신호 교차로와 신호교차로에 대

Development of The Signal Control Algorithm Using Travel Time Informations of Sectional Detection Systems (구간검지체계의 통행시간정보를 이용한 신호제어 알고리즘 개발)

  • This study developed an algorithm for real-time signal control based on the detection system that can collect sectional travel time. The signal control variable is maximum queue length per cycle and this variable has a sectional meaning. When a individual vehicle pass through the detector, we can gather the vehicle ID and the detected time. Therefor we can compute the travel time of an individual vehicle between consecutive detectors. This travel time informations were bisected including the delay and not. We can compute queue withdrawing time using this bisection and the max queue length is computed using the deterministic delay model. The objective function of the real-time signal control aims equalization of queue length for all direction. The distribution of the cycle is made by queue length ratios.

Lane Violation Detection System Using Feature Tracking (특징점 추적을 이용한 끼어들기 위반차량 검지 시스템)

  • In this paper, we suggest a system of detecting a vehicle with lane violation, which can detect the vehicle with lane violation, by using the feature point tracking. The whole algorithm in the suggested system of detecting a vehicle with lane violation is composed of three stages such as feature extraction, register and tracking in feature for the tracking-targeted vehicle, and detecting a vehicle with lane violation. In the stage of feature extraction, the feature is extracted from the inputted image by sing the feature-extraction algorithm available for the real-time processing. The extracted features are again selected the racking-targeted feature. The registered feature is tracked by using NCC(normalized cross correlation). Finally, whether or not lane violation is finally detected by using information on the tracked features. As a result of experimenting the suggested system by using the acquired image in the section with a ban on intervention, the excellent performance was shown with 99.09% for positive recognition ratio and 0.9% for error ratio. The fast processing speed could be obtained in 34.48 frames per second available for real-time processing.

Real-time Lane Violation Detection System using Feature Tracking (특징점 추적을 이용한 실시간 끼어들기 위반차량 검지 시스템)

  • In this paper, we suggest a system of detecting a vehicle with lane violation, which can detect the vehicle with lane violation, by using the feature point tracking. The whole algorism in the suggested system of detecting a vehicle with lane violation is composed of three stages such as feature extraction, register and tracking in feature for the tracking-targeted vehicle, and detecting a vehicle with lane violation. The feature is extracted from the morphological gradient image, which results in constructing robust detection system against shadows, weather conditions, head lights and illumination conditions without distinction day and night. The system shows excellent performance for the data captured at day time, night time, and rainy night time as much as 99.49% for positive recognition ratio and 0.51% for error ratio. Also the system is so fast as much as 91.34 frames per second in average that it may be possible for real-time processing.
