장례지도사는 임종순간부터 시신처리, 유골개장 등 시신에 가장 근접하여 이를 처리하고 관리 및 통제하는 전문인력이다. 미국이나 일본 등은 시신을 다루는 직업 종사자를 국민의 안정과 건강이라는 측면에서 국가 자격제도 혹은 국가공인 자격제도로 관리하고 있다. 이는 일정한 지식과 조건을 갖춘 자격있는 장례지도사가 시신과 관련시설을 전문적인 지식과 기능으로 관리하고 통제함으로써 각종 질병으로 부터 스스로를 보호함은 물론 이를 방문하는 공중의 위생과 건강을 담보하고자 하는 제도적 역할 때문이다. 이에 우리나라도 역시 장례지도사를 국가적 차원에서 관리하고 통제해야 한다고 생각한다. 더불어 우리나라의 문화에 가장 적합한 표준장례지도사 교육과정의 개발이 시급히 요구된다.

In this paper, we systematically investigate regional differences of the dead due to injuries in cities, towns and counties about transportation accidents, suicides and fall accidents, which have recently been an important issue of health problems in Korea, The data are from the Annual Report on the Cause of Death Statistics in Korea in 2008. They include the deaths over the age 19 from transportation accidents, suicides and fall accidents with the criterion of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases. Poisson HGLM is applied to estimate the mortality rate under the assumption that the number of deaths follow a Poisson distribution, by considering regions as random effects and by adjusting age, sex and standardized residence tax as fixed effects. Using the results of random effects prediction, the regional differences in cities, counties and towns are marked in disease mapping. The results showed that there were significant regional differences of mortality rates for transportation accidents and suicides, but no significant differences for fall accidents.

The objective of my paper is to investigate historical change in concepts of medical geography and to present its historical vision. Modern medical geography was established in the name of medical topography in Europe where it had to control tropical diseases in the course of exploration and voyages for colonial interests. England developed medical geography in the name of sanitary reform, France did so for civilizing mission, and geomedicine prevailed in Germany. The twentieth century witnessed two traditions of medical geography, with focus on disease ecology and medical care system, respectively. In addition, the paper emphasizes the significance of cartography of disease as knowledge as power. As the identity of place becomes increasingly important in relation to health at the around of the twenty-first century, geography of health has emerged as a new promising discipline independently of medical and public health geography.

안타깝게도 질병은 소리 소문 없어 찾아온다. 당뇨병도 그렇지만 당뇨합병증은 더욱 생각지도 못하게 나타난다. 그래서 필요한 것이 정기검사이다. 당뇨병은 완치 되지 않으며, 혈관병이라 조금만 관리가 소홀해도 혈당은 조용히 혈관을 타고 각종 장기를 위협해 합병증을 일으키기 때문에 철저한 당뇨관리와 함께 정기적인 검사가 필수이다. 당뇨인이 받아야 할 합병증 검사에 대해 알아보자.

수의사는 동물질병의 예방과 치료뿐만 아니라 축산물의 위생관리 및 안전성확보에 관한 최고의 전문가이다. 또한 축주와 가장 긴밀한 관계를 유지하고 있으며 신뢰관계를 구축하고 있다. 따라서 축산현장에서 올바른 동물용 의약품의 사용과 사양관리에 관해 적극적으로 지도$\cdot$홍보하는 책임있는 수의사의 역할이 잔류예방과 안전한 축산물의 생산을 위한 관건이라 할 수 있다.

Medical oversight (MO) means the advice and direction provided by a physician to rescue workers who provide medical care or carry patients at the scene of an emergency. The purpose of this study was to investigate the utilization of MO and related factors among some 119 rescue workers in Gwangju. A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 153 rescue workers in these 119 safety centers. The data were analyzed by SAS version 9.3. Overall 82.4% of the subjects utilized MO during the past month. In the multiple logistic regression analysis, the married subjects (OR = 3.87, 95% CI = 1.22~12.27), level 1 emergency medical technicians (OR = 2.87, 95% CI = 1.02~8.09), and subjects who treated cardiovascular emergency patients (OR = 9.19, 95% CI = 1.87~45.08) had significantly higher odds ratios for the utilization of MO. The experience of MO accounted for 82%. The development of strategies and education plans taking these results into consideration will help to improve the utilization of MO.

As a basic research to investigate geographical variations of diseases, this study analyzes and compares spatial patterns of 24 different diseases in South Korea using prevalence rate data provided by Community Health Survey in 2012. Descriptive statistical analysis, global Moran’s I computation, and disease mapping were conducted to examine spatial associations and patterns of each disease. After the unique spatial patterns and distinctive spatial associations of each disease were observed, we concluded that 12 diseases displayed statistically significant spatial autocorrelation while the other 12 showed no spatial associations. This study suggests that diseases are caused by different risk factors and possess different etiological mechanisms. Furthermore, the study may lay foundation for future studies of geographical variations of disease prevalence in South Korea.

이 논문은 한국어 백과사전에 등장하는 질병에 대한 요약문 생성의 일환으로 내용을 비교하고 중복성을 제거하기 위해 논리표현으로의 변환과정에서 중요한 영대명사의 복원을 다룬다. 백과사전의적인 기술 특성상 자주 등장하는 영대명사의 복원을 위해 통사 의미적 혹은 담화적 언어지식에 의존하기보다는 질병에 관한 개념지도를 토대로 복원할 수 있다는 지식기반 방식을 제안한다.

난계대 질병을 막아야 한다는 생각은 오래 전부터 갖고 있었으나 그간 여건이 허락치 않아서 양축가들은 막대한 피해를 입으면서도 어쩔 수 없이 당하고만 있었다. 생독 백신을 접종하고 나면 닭에서 C.R.D.증세가 나타나는 등 부작용이 나타나서 백신접종을 기피하고나 또는 종계에서는 생독을 피하고 사독을 사용하는 경우도 있었다. 그러나 이제 양계 규모가 대형화함에 따라 일일히 사독을 주사할 수도 없고 어쩔 수 없이 음수용 생독을 사용치 않을 수 없는 형편에 이르고 있다. 다행히 정부는 그간 양축가의 건의를 받아들여 이번에 S.P.F.(특정 병원체 부재종란) 생산 및 관리요령을 고시함으로써 국내에서도 정식으로 S.P.F.종란의 생산 및 관리를 정부의 지도 감독하에 행하게 되어 믿고 쓸수 있게 되었다. 앞으로 백신 제조회사는 생독 백신을 모두 이 S.P.F.종란으로 만들겠지만 그간 S.P.F.종란을 수입해서 만든 백신이 가격 때문에 양축가로부터 외면당했던 점을 생각해서 앞으로는 양축가들이 즐겨 사용하도록 가능한 한 싼 값으로 제조$\cdot$판매되어야 할 것이고, 양축가는 우선 백신값은 약간 비싸지더라도 백신을 통한 난계대 질병으로부터의 해방으로 더 큰 이익을 가져 올 수 있다는 점을 생각해야 될 것이다. 이 땅에서 난계대 전염병을 완전 축출할 때까지는 생산자와 백신회사, 정부는 물론 모든 관련업계의 공동 방역 노력이 필요하겠다.
