Feature point extraction using scale-space filtering and Tracking algorithm based on comparing texturedness similarity (스케일-스페이스 필터링을 통한 특징점 추출 및 질감도 비교를 적용한 추적 알고리즘)

  • This study proposes a method of feature point extraction using scale-space filtering and a feature point tracking algorithm based on a texturedness similarity comparison, With well-defined operators one can select a scale parameter for feature point extraction; this affects the selection and localization of the feature points and also the performance of the tracking algorithm. This study suggests a feature extraction method using scale-space filtering, With a change in the camera's point of view or movement of an object in sequential images, the window of a feature point will have an affine transform. Traditionally, it is difficult to measure the similarity between correspondence points, and tracking errors often occur. This study also suggests a tracking algorithm that expands Shi-Tomasi-Kanade's tracking algorithm with texturedness similarity.

Image Retrieval based on Color-Spatial Features using Quadtree and Texture Information Extracted from Object MBR (Quadtree를 사용한 색상-공간 특징과 객체 MBR의 질감 정보를 이용한 영상 검색)

  • In this paper, we present am image retrieval method based on color-spatial features using quadtree and texture information extracted from object MBRs in an image. Tile proposed method consists of creating a DC image from an original image, changing a color coordinate system, and decomposing regions using quadtree. As such, conditions are present to decompose the DC image, then the system extracts representative colors from each region. And, image segmentation is used to search for object MBRs, including object themselves, object included in the background, or certain background region, then the wavelet coefficients are calculated to provide texture information. Experiments were conducted using the proposed similarity method based on color-spatial and texture features. Our method was able to refute the amount of feature vector storage by about 53%, but was similar to the original image as regards precision and recall. Furthermore, to make up for the deficiency in using only color-spatial features, texture information was added and the results showed images that included objects from the query images.

  • 본 논문에서는 최근 IT 기술의 발전에 따라 무수히 양산되고 있는 멀티미디어 데이터를 효율적으로 검색하기 위한 방법을 제안한다. 영상 검색 시스템에 사용되는 데이터베이스(DB) 영상들에 존재하는 각 객체들의 존재 영역을 기반으로 질의 영상 (query image)의 객체 영역을 추정해서 검색에 활용하는 것이다. 이는 질의 영상의 전체 영역으로부터 객체를 추정하는 것보다 데이터베이스 영상들로부터 추출한 통계적 객체 분포 범위를 기반으로 추정하기 때문에 빨리 객체 추출이 가능하도록 한다. 따라서 객체를 추출하기 위한 배경 지식이나, 사용자 입력이 전혀 필요 없다. 이렇게 추출된 객체 영역의 영상들로부터 GLCM 알고리즘을 이용해서 객체 영역의 특성이 잘 반영된 질감 특징 값을 바탕으로 검색에 활용 할 경우 원본 영상의 질감 특징을 활용한 경우보다, 객체의 질감 특징을 더 잘 반영한다는 것을 실험을 통해 확인할 수 있었다.

  • Usually, mage feature extraction methods are performed as a pre-processing step in many applications including image retrieval, object recognition, and image indexing. Especially, in the image texture analysis, texture feature extraction methods attempt to increase texture contrast to make it easier to extract the texture features from the image. One of the distinct textures in microscopic skin image is the wrinkle, and its features could provide various useful information for the age-related applications. In this paper, we propose a scheme to extract age-related features from the skin images and improve its accuracy in the skin age estimation.

Rotation-Invariant Texture Classification Using Gabor Wavelet (Gabor 웨이블릿을 이용한 회전 변화에 무관한 질감 분류 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose a new approach for rotation invariant texture classification based on Gabor wavelet. Conventional methods have the low correct classification rate in large texture database. In our proposed method, we define two feature groups which are the global feature vector and the local feature matrix. The feature groups are output of Gabor wavelet filtering. By using the feature groups, we defined an improved discriminant and obtained high classification rates of large texture database in the experiments. From spectrum symmetry of texture images, the number of test times were reduced nearly 50%. Consequently, the correct classification rate is improved with $2.3%{\sim}15.6%$ values in 112 Brodatz texture class, which may vary according to comparison methods.

Block Classification of Document Images by Block Attributes and Texture Features (블록의 속성과 질감특징을 이용한 문서영상의 블록분류)

  • We propose an effective method for block classification in a document image. The gray level document image is converted to the binary image for a block segmentation. This binary image would be smoothed to find the locations and sizes of each block. And especially during this smoothing, the inner block heights of each block are obtained. The gray level image is divided to several blocks by these location informations. The SGLDM(spatial gray level dependence matrices) are made using the each gray-level document block and the seven second-order statistical texture features are extracted from the (0,1) direction's SGLDM which include the document attributes. Document image blocks are classified to two groups, text and non-text group, by the inner block height of the block at the nearest neighbor rule. The seven texture features(that were extracted from the SGLDM) are used for the five detail categories of small font, large font, table, graphic and photo blocks. These document blocks are available not only for structure analysis of document recognition but also the various applied area.

  • We present an efficient algorithm using region-based average of variations of local correlation coefficients (LCC) for the extraction of texture regions. The key idea of this algorithm for the classification of texture and shade regions is to utilize the fact that the averages of the variations of LCCs according to different orientations texture regions are clearly larger than those in shade regions. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, we use nine test images (Lena, Bsail, Camera Man, Face, Woman, Elaine, Jet, Tree, and Tank) of 8-bit 256$\times$256 pixels. Experimental results show that the proposed feature extracts well the regions which appear visually as texture regions.

  • 본 논문에서는 영상 검색에 있어서 객체의 특징치를 추출하는데 많은 시간과 비용이 따르므로 수행속도를 향상시키기 위해 영상의 공간적인 정보를 이용한 영상의 압축을 이용하는 내용기반 영상 검색을 제안하고자 한다. 압축 성능이 뛰어나며 영상의 위치 정보와 주파수 정보를 가지는 EZW(Embedded Zerotree Wavelet)알고리즘을 이용하여 영상을 김색하는 방안으로 EZW 변환 후 얻어지는 저 대역 부 밴드에서의 공간적인 특성을 고려한 특징 값을 이용하여 정지영상의 대표 특징들을 형태와 질감으로 빠르게 영상 검색하고자 한다.

Content-based Image Retrieval using the Color and Wavelet-based Texture Feature (색상특징과 웨이블렛 기반의 질감특징을 이용한 영상 검색)

  • In this paper we propose an efficient content-based image retrieval method using the color and wavelet based texture features. The color features are obtained from soft-color histograms of the global image and the wavelet-based texture features are obtained from the invariant moments of the high-pass sub-band through the spatial-frequency analysis of the wavelet transform. The proposed system, called a color and texture based two-step retrieval(CTBTR), is composed of two-step query operations for an efficient image retrieval. In the first-step matching operation, the color histogram features are used to filter out the dissimilar images quickly from a large image database. The second-step matching operation applies the wavelet based texture features to the retained set of images to retrieve all relevant images successfully. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm yields more improved retrieval accuracy with computationally efficiency than the previous methods.

  • 본 논문에서는 관련성 귀환을 가진 칼라와 질감기반의 영상검색 시스템에 대하여 연구하였다. 먼저 영상데이터베이스 내에 있는 영상들에 대하여 칼라특징, 질감특징을 추출하고 추출된 특징 값을 다양한 형태로 영상검색에 이용하였다. 그리고 초기 검색결과에 대하여 사용자 평가를 관련성 귀환을 통하여 영상검색 시스템에 적용하고, 개선된 결과를 얻었다. 16종류의 다양한 영상으로 구성된 영상 데이터베이스에 대하여 실험한 결과, 제안된 방법은 INRIA의 방법보다 각 귀환단계에서 약 10%$\sim$l6% 이상의 높은 검색율을 보였다.
