Effect of Piezoactuator Length Variation for Vibration Control of Beams (보의 진동제어를 위한 압전 액추에이터의 길이변화 효과 연구)

  • This paper presents an approach to define an optimal piezoactuator length to actively control structural vibration. The optimal ratio of the piezoactuator length against the beam length when a pair of piezoceramic actuator and accelerometer is used to suppress unwanted vibration with direct velocity feedback(DVFB) control strategy is not clearly defined so far. It is well known that DVFB control can be very useful when a pair of sensor and actuator is collocated on structures with a high gain and excellent stability. It is considered that three different collocated Pairs of piezoelectric actuators (20, 50 and 100 mm long) and accelerometers installed on three identical clamped-clamped beams($30{\times}20{\times}1mm$). The response of each sensor-actuator pair requires strictly positive real(SPR) property to apply a high feedback gain. However the length of the piezoactuator affects the SPR property of the sensor-actuator response. Intensive simulation and experiment show the effect of the actuator length variation is strongly related with the frequency range of the SPR property. Thus an optimal length ratio was suggested to obtain relevant performance with a good stability under the DVFB strategy.

Finite Element Forced Response of a Spinning Flexible HDD Disk-spindle System Considering the Asymmetry Originating from Gyroscopic Effect and Fluid Dynamic Bearings (자이로스코픽 효과와 유체 동압 베어링에 의한 비대칭성을 고려한 회전 유연 디스크-스핀들 시스템의 유한요소 강제 진동 해석)

  • This paper presents an efficient method for determining the forced response of a spinning flexible disk-spindle system supported by fluid dynamic bearings(FDBs) in a computer hard disk drive(HDD). The spinning flexible disk-spindle system is represented by the asymmetric finite element equations of motion originating from the asymmetric dynamic coefficients of the FDBs and the gyroscopic moment of a spinning disk-spindle system. The proposed method utilizes only the right eigenvectors of the eigenvalue problem to transform the large asymmetric finite element equations of motion into a small number of coupled equations, guaranteeing the accuracy of their numerical integration. The results are then back-substituted into the equations of motion to determine the forced response. The effectiveness of the proposed method was verified by comparing it with the responses from the classical methods of mode superposition with the general eigenvalue problems, and mode superposition with modal approximation. The proposed method was shown to be effective in determining the forced response represented by the asymmetric finite element equations of motion of a spinning flexible disk-spindle system supported by FDBs.

  • A noncontact optical system that can measure displacement or vibration of an object is designed by employing the oblique ray method. By using a single convex lens which serves as both the input and output lenses, we made the optical system very compact and reliable. In addition, the bandwidth of the vibration measurement is more than 100 KHz by using the position-sensitive detector as the beam position sensor. The resolution and capture range of the system are $\pm$1 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and 1100 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, respectively. As a sample test, the vibrations of a speaker and a rotating compact disc surface were measured.

  • 자동차 엔진의 주기적인 연소과정 동아네 생성된 힘에 의해 엔진의 크랭크 샤프트에 회전 불균일성이 나타난다. 이것은 엔진 플라이휘일 부분에 비틀림 변동토크를 발생시키고, 이 토크는 클러치를 통하여 변속기의 인풋기어(input gear)에 전달되어 변속기에 비틀림 진동을 일으키는 주요 원인이 된다. 공회전시 변속기에서 기어의 충돌은 주로 이 비틀림 변동토크에 의해 발생하며, 이 충돌은 차내 소음의 원인이 된다. 또한 엔진의 경량화 및 고출력화에 따른 회전수 변동의 증가는 비틀림 변동토크를 증가시켜 변속기에 커다란 진동을 초래한다. 시뮬레이션을 사용한 클러치 비틀림 기구의 적절한 특성치를 구하는 것은 클러치 설계에 효율적이고, 이미 여러 연구 결과들이 보고되었다. H.Arai은 2자유도 비선형 모델을 사용하여 클러치 접속시 발생하는 외란과 계의 안정성을 고려하여 치타음 저감을 위한 시뮬레이션을 수행하였고, S.Ohnuma은 비선형 2단 비틀림 특성을 가진 클러치 디스크의 설계에 대해서, 그리고, T.Fujimoto와 R.J.Comparin는 치타음의 발생구조와 특성을 고찰하고 비선형 비틀림 공진 저감에 의한 치타음 저감 기법에 대하여 연구하였다. 그리고, Wu Hui-Le는 자동차 동력전달계의 비틀림 진동 현상을 실험과 이론적인 계산을 통해 연구하였고, G.J.Fudala는 다자유도 모델을 이용하여 클러치의 비틀림 특성에 따라 주파수분석을 수행하여 치타음 저감 방법을 연구하였다. 또한, T.Sakai는 5자유도 모델을 이용하여 엔진 공회전시 발생하는 치타음에 대해 이론과 실험을 통해 해석하고, 엔진 회전수 변동, 클러치 특성, 변속기의 드래그(drag) 토크의 영향과 치타음 저감을 위한 개선된 클러치 특성을 제시하였다. 클러치는 동력을 전달 또는 차단하는 기능 뿐만 아니라 엔진이나 변속기에서 발생하는 소음이나 진동을 저감시키는 기능을 가지고 있다. 따라서 엔진 공회전시에 발생하는 치타음(rattle noise)이나 비틀림 진동을 저감시키는 방법으로는 여러가지가 있으나 클러치 디스크(clutch disc)의 비틀림 기구의 설계 인자들을 적절히 조절함으로써 변속기의 인풋기어에 전달되는 비틀림 진동을 저감시키는 방법이 일반적으로 수행되어지고 있다. 본 연구는 4 실린더 4 싸이클 1.5L 엔진을 장착한 경승용차의 실차실험을 통해 공회전시 엔진 플라이휘일과 인풋기어에서의 회전수 변동을 측정하고, 이 실험 데이타를 기초로 하여 엔진 토크 및 변속기에서의 드래그 토크를 계산하여 엔진-변속기 인풋기어의 반한정계 2자유도 진동모델과 비틀림 특성을 가진 클러치 디스크의 프리댐퍼 영역에 대해 시뮬레이션을 수행하여 클러치 비틀림 기구의 설계인자인 비틀림 강성, 히스테리시스 토크에 따른 비틀림 진동 저감 효과를 연구하고자 한다.

Stabilization of Abnormal Combustion of Dry Low NOx Gas Turbine Combustor for Power Generation (발전용 저 NOx 가스터빈의 연소 불안정 안정화에 관한 연구)

  • Stabilization and reduction of combustion noise and NOx emission from dry low NOx combustor of GE MS7001F gas turbine were achieved. Dry low NOx gas turbines that adopt the lean premixed combustion technology frequently generate the flame instability and high NOx emissions if not adequately tuned. Dynamic pressure oscillation during the combustion mode transfer increased as ambient temperature decreased with frequency of 80㎐ and magnitude of 4-9 psi. Effects of both combustor tuning for uniform fuel flow with burner nozzles and fuel pre-filling into transfer fuel valves on stabilisation of the dry low NOx combustor were very significant. Dynamic pressure oscillation during the combustion mode change was decreased up to 2.5 psi. Also, NOx emission from GE7F DLN-1 combustor can be maintained as low as 35-43ppm (15% O$_2$) in base load operation of 150 MW.

  • SRM drives generate large vibration and acoustic noise because it is rotated by step pulse mmf and switching commutation mechanism. The main vibration source of SRM drive is generated by rapidly variation of radial force when phase winding current is extinguished for commutation action. So the rapidly variation of radial force is repressed firstly to reduce vibrating force of SRM drive. This paper suggests an SRM excitation scheme using unidirect-short compensation winding to reduce vibration of the motor. The motor is excited by a two stage commutation method during commutation period. The motor is excited by a tow stage commutation method during commutation period. This reduction effect of vibration is verified with the result obtained in the test of prototype machine.

A Study on the Characteristics of Coupling Loss factor Associated with Fluid Loading (접수 구조물의 연성손실계수 변화에 관한 연구)

  • Statistical Energy Analysis(SEA) is an efficient tool to predict the broadband noise and vibration for the huge and complex structures such as aircraft and ships. To estimate the noise and vibration by using SEA accurately, the characteristics of SEA parameters associated with fluid loading have to be investigated. In this report, the fluid loaded coupling loss factors were calculated for an 'L' and 'T' type line connections and compared to the ones without fluid loading. Then, the vibration levels for steel box model with 'L' and 'T' type line connection were computed using the fluid loaded and no fluid loaded coupling loss factors, respectively. As a result, the calculated vibration levels of the model using the fluid loaded coupling loss factors were lower than those without fluid loading. As a conclusion, it is necessary to use the fluid loaded coupling loss factors for increasing the prediction accuracy on the noise and vibration of immersed structures.

  • This paper is concerned with the fuzzy control scheme and PID controller for the vibration suppression control of a cantilever beam equipped with a laser sensor and an electromagnetic actuator. The PID controller is being widely used in industrial applications. However, it is difficult to determine the appropriate PID gains in nonlinear systems and systems with time variant characteristic and so on. In this paper, we design the fuzzy based PID controller of which output gains are adjusted automatically and the designed controller is applied to active vibration control of a cantilever beam using electromagnetic actuator with strong nonlinearity. The tuning PID parameters of proposed controller are determined by using Fuzzy algorithm. Effectiveness and performance of the designed controller are verified by both simulation and experiment results. Experimental results demonstrate that better control performance can be achieved in comparison with the PID cotroller.

Influence of Vibration on Freezing and Fermentation of Watery Kimchi (진동이 물김치의 동결과 발효에 미치는 영향)

  • Vibration at frequency of 20 Hz and 0.18 g of acceleration was applied to 600 g watery kimchi contained in a glass jar of 1 L at subfreezing temperature (-3 and $-6^{\circ}C$) and $10^{\circ}C$ in order to see its effect on freezing and fermentation behaviors, respectively. The vibration at the subfreezing temperature delayed the freezing process and contributed to maintaining small ice crystal slurry in subsequent frozen storage. The vibration at $10^{\circ}C$ accelerated the acid and carbon dioxide production from the watery kimchi, which may be beneficial in shortening ripening time and attaining fresh cool taste.

  • Rain-wind induced cable vibration can cause the damages in the cable-stayed bridge due to very little inherent damping characteristics and low fundamental frequency. External Dampers attached to stay cables near anchorages have been shown to be effective means at short stay-cables. However, installation locations of external dampers are limited to a particular range due to aesthetic and practical reasons for very long stay-cables. A recent study by the authors showed that the stay-cable vibration system can perform better than the optimal passive viscous damper, thereby demonstrating its applicability in large cable-stayed bridges. This paper extends the previous study on the taut string representation of the cable by adding cable sag and inclination. The response of the proposed system compared to those of the cable with and without an external damper, and the movable anchorage system provides very effective mitigation of cable vibration. Cable damping ratio is seen to be remarkably reduced by movable anchorage system for a wide range of cable sag. This result shows that the sag effects of the proposed system should be considered.
