By using the Triboelectric nanogenerators, known as TENG, we can take advantages of high conversion efficiency and continuous power output even with small vibrating energy sources. Nonlinear energy extraction techniques for Triboelectric vibration energy harvesting usually requires synchronized active electronic switches in most electronic interface circuits. This study presents a nonlinear energy harvesting with high energy conversion efficiency to harvest and save energies from human active motions. Moreover, the proposed design can harvest and store energy from sway motions around different directions on a horizontal plane efficiently. Finally, we conducted a comparative analysis of a multi-mode energy storage board developed by a silicon-based piezoelectricity and a transparent TENG cell. As a result, the experiment showed power generation of about 49.2mW/count from theses multi-fully harvesting source with provision of stable energy storages.

When designing an underwater Piezoelectric Energy Harvester (PEH), Vortex Induced Vibration (VIV) is generated throughout the cantilever through a change in curvature, and the generation of VIV increases the vibration displacement of the curved cantilever PEH, which is an important factor in increasing actual power. The material of the curved PEH selected a Polyvinyline Di-Floride (PVDF) piezoelectric film, and the flow velocity is set at 0.1 m/s to 0.50 m/s for 50 mm, 130 mm, and 210 mm with various curvatures. The strain energy change of PEH by VIV was observed. The smaller the radius of curvature, the larger the VIV, and as the flow rate increased, more VIV appeared. Rapid shape transformation due to the small curvature was effective in generating VIV, and strain energy, normalized voltage, average power, etc. To increase the amount of power of the PEH, it is considered that the average power will increase as the number of curved PEHs increases as well as the steep curvature is improved.

Recently, an electricity sensor system has been installed and operated to prevent failures and accidents by identifying whether a transformer is normal in advance of failure. This electricity sensor system is able to both measure and monitor the transformer's power and voltage remotely and send information to a manager when unusual operation is discovered. However, a battery is required to operate power detection devices, and battery systems need ongoing management such as regular replacement. In addition, at a maintenance cost, occasional human resources and worker safety problems arise. Accordingly, we apply a linear electromagnetic generator using vibration energy from a transformer for an electric sensor system's drive in this research and we conduct optimal design to maximize the linear electromagnetic generator's power. We consider design variables using the provided design method from Process Integration, Automation, and Optimization (PIAnO), which is common tool from process integration and design optimization (PIDO). In addition, we analyze the experiment point from the design of the experiments using "MAXWELL," which is a common electromagnet analysis program. We then create an approximate model and conduct accuracy verification. Finally, we determine the optimal model that generates the maximum power using the proven approximate kriging model and evolutionary optimization algorithm, which we then confirm via simulation.

In this paper a low-voltage vibration energy harvesting circuit with MPPT(Maximum Power Point Tracking) control is proposed. By employing bulk-driven technique, the minimum operating voltage of the proposed circuit is as low as 0.8V. The designed MPPT control circuit traces the maximum power point by periodically sampling the open circuit voltage of a full-wave rectifier circuit connected to the piezoelectric device output and delivers the maximum available power to load. The proposed circuit is designed using a $0.35{\mu}m\;CMOS$ process, and the chip area including pads is $1.33mm{\times}1.31mm$. Simulation results show that the maximum power efficiency of the designed circuit is 85.49%.

This paper describes a dual-input battery charger with MPPT control using photovoltaic and piezoelectric energy. Each energy is harvested from photovoltaic cells and piezoelectric cells and is stored to each capacitor. The battery voltage is boosted by charger block and two energy sources are used as input to charge battery capacitor. A DC-DC boost converter is designed to boost the battery voltage, and inductor sharing technique is employed such that only one inductor is required. The time division ratio for piezoelectric cell and photovoltaic cell is set to 8:1. The proposed circuit is designed in a 0.35um CMOS process technology. The condition of battery capacitor is managed by battery management block and the battery voltage can be boosted up to 3V. The maximum efficiency of the designed entire system is 88.56%, and the chip area including pads is $1230um{\times}1330um$.

In general, tires require various sensors and power supply devices, such as batteries, to obtain information such as pressure, temperature, acceleration, and the friction coefficient between the tire and the road in real time. However, these sensors have a size limitation because they are mounted on a tire, and their batteries have limited usability due to short replacement cycles, leading to additional replacement costs. Therefore, vibration energy harvesting technology, which converts the dynamic strain energy generated from the tire into electrical energy and then stores the energy in a power supply, is advantageous. In this study, the output voltage and power generated from piezoelectric elements are predicted through finite element analysis under static state and transient state conditions, taking into account the dynamic characteristics of tires. First, the tire and piezoelectric elements are created as a finite element model and then the natural frequency and mode shapes are identified through modal analysis. Next, in the static state, with the piezoelectric element attached to the inside of the tire, the voltage distribution at the contact surface between the tire and the road is examined. Lastly, in the transient state, with the tire rotating at the speeds of 30 km/h and 50 km/h, the output voltage and power characteristics of the piezoelectric elements attached to four locations inside the tire are evaluated.

The purpose of this study is intended to improve the efficiency of energy harvesting through the optimal design of the PZT system and the electrical system. To improve the efficiency of energy harvesting, it is necessary to increase the output voltage generated from the PZT. In this study, first the mounting position and shape of the PZT which is attached to the cantilever were optimized. Second electric circuit was optimized by using a series connection of a circuit and the electrical resonance frequency. As a result, we improve the output voltage about 5V.
