쌍롤 박판주조법으로 제조된 고합금계 알루미늄 합금의 미세조직 및 기계적 특성

  • 최근 환경과 에너지에 대한 관심이 증대됨에 따라 차체의 경량화를 위한 고합금계 알루미늄 합금의 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 특히 5000계 알루미늄 합금은 비중이 낮을 뿐만 아니라 Mg의 첨가에 의해 높은 강도 및 성형성을 얻을 수 있기 때문에 자동차용 판재로 많은 주목을 받고 있다. 현재 사용되는 대부분의 알루미늄 합금판재는 DC주조법과 추가적인 압연공정으로 제조되기 때문에 경제성 문제와 낮은 냉각속도로 인한 금속학적인 문제를 갖는다. 그러나 DC주조법과는 달리 쌍롤 박판주조법은 용탕으로부터 직접 판재를 제조하기 때문에 경제적이며 효율적인 주조공정이다. 또한 냉각속도가 빠르기 때문에 비교적 주조편석이 적고 전반적인 미세조직이 균일하여 고합금계 알루미늄 합금 판재제조에 매우 유용하게 응용될 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 쌍롤 박판주조법으로 고합금계 알루미늄 합금 판재를제조하고, 제조된 합금의 열간압연 및 열처리 조건에 따른 기계적 특성을 비교 및 평가하였다. 또한 미세조직 및 집합조직을 분석함으로써 고합금계 알루미늄 합금 판재의 실용화 가능성을 평가하였다.

A Finite Element Heat Transfer Analysis with Coupling of Roll and Molten Metal in Direct Rolling Process (직접압연공정에 있어서 롤과 용탕을 연계한 유한요소 열전도해석)

  • In the steel industries, direct rolling process for production of strip from molten metal has been investigated to simplify processes, to minimize energy consumption, and to improve quality of the strip. In this study, two kinds of practicable scale cooling rollers are proposed. And heat transfer analysis of pool region and cooling roller considering flow of molten metal and roll rotation respectively using the finite element method are performed to obtain the proper initial condition and to observe cooling characteristics of cooling roller. From the results, variations of solidification final points and temperature distribution in roller are observed quantitatively according to roll rotation.

  • In the manufacturing process of steel plates, materials at high temperatures above $800^{\circ}C$ are rapidly cooled by using a circular impinging water jet to determine their strength and toughness. In this study, the basic heat and fluid flow is solved by using the existing numerical model for boiling heat transfer. Actually, steel undergoes a phase change from austenite to ferrite or bainite during the cooling process. The phase change induces changes in its thermal properties. Instead of directly solving the phase change and the material cooling together, we solve the heat transfer only by applying the thermal properties that vary with temperature, which is already known from other studies. The effects of the changes in the thermal properties on the cooling of steel and the necessity of calculating the phase change are discussed.

  • A computer program has been developed for analyzing the two-dimensional unsteady conservation equations for transport phenomena in the ool region of direct rolling with semi-solid metal in order to describe the velocity and temperature, and the solidification process of the semi-solid metal. The energy equations of cooling roll is solved simultaneously with semi-solid metal in order consider heat transfer through the cooling roll. The FDM(finite difference method) and FEM(finite element method) are used in region of pool and roll, respsctively, to reduce computing time and to improve accuracy of calculation. In the present study, influence of solid fraction and casting speed are investigated in a point of view of strip formability with semi-solid metal.

  • Recently, direct rolling process, called as strip casting process, has been interested in to save production cost by reducing forming processes. In direct rolling process, since a steel strip of thickness 1-5(mm) can be produced directly from molten metal, it can eliminate secondary hot rolling process. On the other hand, since many process variables are existed in this process and relation of these variables is very complex, it is difficult to realize the process design and the quality control. In this paper, as first step to overcome above difficulties, the quantitative relationship of the process variables affected to quality of the strip has been carried out through the numerical analysis. Also, we determined the process variable to monitor the quality in the direct rolling process. As a result, we show that the solidification final point, called as Nip point, was related directly to quality of the strip.

  • The rolling force and roll deformation behavior in the twin roll type strip continuous casting process has been computed to estimate the thermal charcteristics of a caster roll. To calculation of rolling force, the relationship between flow stress and strain for a roll material and casting alloy are assumed as a function of strain-rate and temperature because mechanical properties of a casting materials depends on tempera- ture. The three dimensional thermal dlastic-plastic analysis of a cooling roll has also been carried out to obtain a roll stress and plastic strain distributions with the commercial finite element analysis package of ANSYS. Temperature fields data of caster roll which are provided by authors were used to estimated of roll deformation. Roll life considering thermal cycle is calculated by using thermal elastic-plastic analysis results. Roll life is proposed as a terms of a roll revolution in the caster roll with and without fine failure model on the roll surface. To obtain of plastic strain distributions of caster roll, thermomechan- ical properties of roll sleeve with a copper alloy is obtained by uniaxial tensile test for variation of temperature.

  • The twin-roll type strip continuous casting process(or direct rolling process) of steel materials is characterized by two rotating water cooled rolls receiving a steady supply of molten metal which solidifies onto the rolls. A solidification analysis of molten metal considering phase transformation and thermofluid is performed using finite diffefence method with curvilinear coordinate to reduce computing time and molten region analysis with arbitrary shape. An enthalpy-specific heat method is used to determine the temperatures inthe roll and the steel. The temperature distribution of cooling roll is calculated using two dimensional finite element method, because of complex roll shape due to cooling hole in rolls and improvemnt accuracy of calculation result. The energy equaiton of cooling roll is solved simultanuously with the conservation equaiton of molten metal in order to consider heat transfer through the cooling roll. The calculated roll temperature is compared to experimental results and the heat transfer coefficient between cooling roll surface and rolling material(steel) is also determined from comparison of measured roll temperature and calculated temperature.

  • Recently,direct rolling process has been drawing increasing interests because production cost be greatly reduced by eliminating subsequent hot rolling processes. Such a process has been characterized to prosuce thin steel strip (thickness 1~5mm) directly from molten metal and to skip over the conventional hot rolling processes. However, since there are several process parameters, which affect the quality of product,and their relationship between the parametersare very complex,it is therefore very difficult to realize the process design and the quality control. To overcome these difficulties quantitative relationship between the parameters are investigated through a numerical analysis. Form these results, it is found that solidification final point is the most important paramter which is critical to quality of the strip. Also,the multiple regression model is obtianed to determine their relationship from the solidification final point and roll separating force which can be easily estimated

  • 최근의 전자및 광학기기 분야에 있어서의 준부신 발전은 다면경 가공기나 초정밀 절삭, 연삭기와 같은 초정밀 가공기계의 개발과 실용화에 힘입은 바 크다. 이러한 초정밀 가공기의 성능을 좌우하는 핵심 요소로서 주축계를 들 수 있으며, 비교적 소형 경량의 공작물을 가공하는 기계의 주축용 베어링으로는 볼 베어링이나 오일 베어링을 대신하여 공기베어링이 점차 널리 사용되고 있다. 일반적으로 주축으로 사용되는 베어링은 원통형 레이디얼 베어링과 원판형 스러스트 베어링이 결합된 형식이 주류를 이루나 이러한 베어링은 스러스트 판과 축의 직가곧 가공오차가 존재하기 때문에 가공하기는 쉬우나 회전시에 의의 영향에 의해 회전 정밀도 유지가 어렵다는 단점을 지니고 있다. 이러한 단점을 보완하기 위하여 사용되는 베어링에는 원추형(conical) 베어링과 구면형(spherical) 베어링이 쓰이고 있다. 이러한 원추형 베어링과 구면형 베어링은 가공오차를 베어링과 축의 현압 연마로써 없애줄 수 있으며 베어링이 축방향 하중과 경방향 하중을 동시에 지지하여 줌으로써 기계 전체의 부피를 줄이고 회전 정밀도를 향상시켜 주는 것으로 알려져 있다. 그러나 구면의 베어링 간극을 정확히 가공하기 어려운 단점이 있어 축과 베어링을 현압연마하여 가공한 후에 두부품을 중심선상에서 분리시키므로써 요구되는 간극을 얻을 수 있는 원추형 베어링이 많이 쓰이고 있다. 본 연구에서는 직접 수치 해법을 이요하여 원추형 베어링의 유막내의 압력 분포를 계산하고 이 합력인 하중지지 용량이 축방향 하중과 경방향 하중을 지지하는 특성을 이론적으로 검토하여 외부 가압 원추형 베어링으 특성수를 파악하여 설계자료를 제시하고자 한다.

  • The proper parameters in a twin roll strip casting are important to obtain the stabilization of the Mg sheet. What is examined in this paper is the quantitative relationships of the important control parameters such as the roll speed, height of pool region, outlet size of nozzle, solidification profile and the final point of solidification in a twin roll strip casting Unsteady conservation equations were used for transport phenomena in the pool region of a twin roll strip casting in order to predict a velocity, temperature distributions of fields and a solidification process of molten magnesium. The energy equation of cooling roll Is solved simultaneously with the conservation equations of molten magnesium In order to consider the heat transfer through the cooling roil. The finite difference method (2-D) and the finite element method (2-D) are used in the analysis of pool region and cooling roil to reduce computing time and to improve the accuracy of calculation respectively.
