A Study on Facility Improvement in the Military Personal Firearms Shooting Range (군 부대 개인화기 사격장 시설개선 방안 연구)

  • The ROK military conluded that the dead of a young soldier, walking back to his unit was caused by a ricochet after carrying our some construction work near firing range in Gangwon Province in last Septemebr. But when it was revealed that he was hit by a stray bullet cause, this fact caused public fury. To solve these problems, we will analyze the individual fire shooting range of our military units from a safe perspective and propose ways to improve it by applying the cases of the United States, which are both permanent and scientific.

Study on Operating Limits of 5.56mm Rifle Overheat - Focusing on Human Engineering (5.56mm 소총 과열에 의한 운용한계 분석 - 인간공학 중심으로)

  • High temperature heat generated during rifle firing not only degrades the performance of the weapon, but also limits the user's operation. In this study, temperature change of handguard according to firing was measured with reference to Human Engineering criteria and the operability according to material was examined. Accordingly, for the firing test, three types of Korean rifle and one overseas model were selected for each material of handguard, and firing test was conducted using a contact type temperature meter. The test result shows that using a plastic handguard with low thermal conductivity and aluminum handguard with high thermal conductivity enabled the rifles to be operated with bare hands even when firing at more than 100 rounds at low atmospheric temperature. However, when firing more than 60 rounds at over 20℃ atmospheric temperature, aluminum handguard use is limited. When firing quickly over 100 rounds, handguard use is restricted regardless of its fabrication material. To eliminate operational limitations by overheating, it is necessary to eliminate direct contact with skin using gloves, vertical grips, etc. This study examined the operability of rifles in terms of thermal risk, and the resulting study results are expected to be used as basic data for Human Engineering of other rifles and munitions.

댐수몰지내 지하수/토양 오염관리를 위한 조사기법 제안

  • 댐수몰 예정지 상류에 일반적으로 분포하는 폐광산, 축산단지, 군사격장 등의 점오염원에 의하여 댐수몰 예정지 상류지역의 지하수 및 토양이 오염된 사례가 많으며, 이러한 오염은 댐 건설을 위한 적지선정시 장애요소로 작용하고 있고, 댐 건설중에도 댐저수지 수질을 지속적으로 악화시키는 요인들로 알려져 있다. 특히, 지하수내에 잔존하는 오염물들은 지하수 유동특성상 장기간에 걸쳐 서서히 진행되므로, 댐건설이 완료된 담수후에도 지속적으로 수질에 영향을 미치게 된다. 이에 따라 국내외에 수행되었거나 진행중인 댐수몰 예정지의 오염조사 평가 및 복원ㆍ정화 사례를 조사하는 한편, 현재 댐건설이 예정된 지역에 대하여 직접적인 현장조사를 실시함으로써 국내에 적합한 조사ㆍ평가 기법과 복원ㆍ정화 기법을 개발, 제안하고자 한다.

  • 가상현실(VR)은 현실 세계를 인공적인 기술을 활용하여 실제로 얻기 힘든 경험이나 환경 등을 제공해 인체의 오감(시각, 청각, 후각, 미각, 촉각)을 자극함으로써 실제와 같이 체험하게 하는 기술로써 게임, 영화, 스포츠, 테마파크와 같이 엔터테인먼트 목적으로 개발되는 경우가 많다. 본 논문에서는 Oculus Touch 및 Oculus Rift를 이용한 VR(Virtual Reality) 올림픽 종목의 스포츠를 설계하고 구현한 시스템을 제안한다. 올림픽 종목 중에 인기종목인 양궁, 사격, 테니스, 탁구 총 4가지 종목으로 구성되어 있으며, 특히 AI를 이용한 경쟁을 통해 종목별 스코어(점수)를 평가함으로서 경쟁구도를 형성한다. 또한, 시각적인 자극을 통해 흥미를 이끌어내고 현실적인 환경을 구현함으로써 유저가 실제 현장에 있는 것 같은 느낌을 제공하며, 세계적인 올림픽 스포츠를 유저들이 직접 즐기고 느낄 수 있다.

Fire Power Analysis for Concept Exploration of Combat Vehicle (전투차량체계의 개념탐색을 위한 화력성능분석)

  • At the stage conceptual design, combat vehicle is classified into three general categories of fire power, mobility and physical properties of system. The present research is restricted to fire power and its optimization. At the stage of conceptual designing of system, it is appropriate to consider major variables affecting fire power - including the weight of bullet, which exerts a direct influence on destroying effect, maximum range which takes long range firing in consideration. To estimate the maximum firing range, a simple interior ballistic and an exterior ballistic model were built by using the lumped parameter method, Le Duc method and point mass trajectory model. Design of experiment and regression analysis was used to derive simulations of fire power. Finally, response surface models were built and design variables were analyzed.

  • The purpose of this study is to experimentally analysis the eletrokinetic phenomena and remediation characteristics developed during the application of electrokinetic remediation technique to unsaturated soils contaminated by heavy metals. In the laboratory a series of column tests are performed on degree of saturation for shooting range soil. The test results indicated that Pb is mainly removed under unsaturated conditions by electromigration within diffuse double layer, and if the initial containment concentration is below cation exchange capacity and equals to adsorption per unit soil solid weight, the remedial efficiency decreases with the decreasing of transport efficiency due to the changes in the degree of saturation in the electric gradient of 1V/cm.

  • The aim of this study is to suggest design requirements on the military barriers which are installed to reduce critical damage on protective facilities against sudden pin-point attacks caused by North Korean artilleries. For this purpose, site investigation and review of design drawings associated with barriers built in the contact areas are conducted. With identified data concerning barriers, the geometric modeling, which is used in the structural analysis, is performed. And then, the possible threat of North Korea is determined based on intelligence preparation of battlefields. Once the structural modeling and threat analysis are completed, structural damage on barriers and protective facilities are assessed in terms of impact, penetration, scabbing, and blast pressure effects. According to the analysis results, the thickness of barriers should be 450mm at least and current established barriers need to be structurally reinforced via sectional enlargement.

  • Recently, the necessity of VV&A and the importance of M&S are increasing in the national defense area. The purpose of VV&A is to assure a proper development of M&S and to provide users with sufficient information to determine if M&S could meet their demands. Therefore, VV&A process needs to be performed to guarantee the credibility of the M&S. However, the basic guidance and regulation of VV&A are not yet developed in Korea. This paper proposed the VV&A application process in the Korean Wartime Resource Requirement Model, focusing on the close combat situation of the model. The VV&A process provided in this paper can also be applied to other analytical models currently developing in Korea.

  • The TA-50 aircraft is conducting simulated training on various situations, including air-to-air and air-to-ground fire training, in preparation for air warfare. It is also used for pilot training before actual deployment. However, the TA-50 does not have the ability to operate smart weapon forces, limiting training. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to implement the TA-50 aircraft to enable virtual training of one of the smart weapons, the Point Direct Attack Munition (JDAM). First, JDAM functions implemented in FA-50 aircraft, a model similar to TA-50 aircraft, were analyzed. In addition, since functions implemented in FA-50 aircraft cannot be directly utilized by source code, algorithms were extracted using machine learning techniques(TensorFlow). The implementation of this function is expected to enable realistic training without actually having to be armed. Finally, based on the results of this study, we would like to propose ways to supplement the limitations of the research so that it can be implemented in the same way as it is.

  • Horseback riding, shooting, golf and other sports that make up the visuals, the background graphics in the game is an important factor influencing the outcome. But they need to play directly from the site is limited, and sports simulation games and the realistic representation of real-time operation since the fall of the background. In this paper, to overcome the limitations in the field for the game by converting pictures 3d graphic modeling. z-depth by using a special technique for expressing the perspective of the analysis of the sport and VR (virtual reality) simulation to study the background to the development.
