Determination of an Underground Seawater Flow Using a TEM Decay Curve (TEM감쇠곡선을 이용한 해수의 지하 유동현상 파악)

  • The geophysical monitoring technique using the high resolution time-domain electromagnetic (TEM) method with a coincident loop away was applied for determination of an underground seawater flow in the coastal areas. In comparison of the TEM monitoring to direct current (DC) resistivity monitoring, the TEM response to the under ground seawater flow is less sensitive than the DC resistivity response. However, the TEM monitoring is more effective in terms of measuring time, survey expense, and real-time data processing than the DC monitoring thor evaluating the spatial distribution of the fresh water-seawater transition zone in a regional area.

  • This study is to evaluate the uncertainty of the soil parameters associated with the Gap parameter during shield TBM tunnel excavation of ${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$ International Airport Terminal 2 connecting railway construction basic design. And This study is to evaluate the adequacy of the shield TBM design by performing a reliability analysis of the Surface settlement. In addition, By analyzing the reliability indices of the design constants and Sensitivity probability of failure to be used in designing an integer parameter Gap, and By evaluating the design constants of a great influence on the surface subsidence, it was to provide a basis for carrying out an optimum design.

  • In order to design the ventilation in the road tunnel, it is necessary to know the ratio of average annual daily traffic by vehicle type. In general, the road tunnels are onedirectional tunnel, so the traffic of each vehicle type does not change along the tunnel. On the other hand, in the case of network road tunnels, since the connections in the tunnels are complex, the traffic of vehicle-type varies depending on the network composition of tunnels. In the studying the easy method for calculating the ratio of vehicle type for the network road tunnel are proposed with using incidence matrix.

  • This study is intended to investigate the geotechnical behavior of jointed mass on tunnel excavation experimentally. Laboratory test were conducted in various conditions of distance from joint to tunnel and in-situ stress ratio ($K_0$). In case, the ground around the tunnel that has the joint angle $90^{\circ}$ generate the greatest influence in crown and far shoulder from joint. If the in-situ stress ratio is low, tangential stress of side wall that is opposite side of the joint is increased more than in crown. Otherwise in case, joint angle $45^{\circ}$, the generated compress stress is found out that left side of the tunnel of near the joint has influence on stability of the tunnel about 3 times than non-jointed rock.

  • As it is keen competition of a construction market and the recognition that increases construction productivity for maintaining competitiveness, it is increased importance of an interest about productivity and efficiency in the construction industry. This study measures productivity through the instance of investigation that the existing productivity measurement method was utilized and presented a work improvement matter based on the measured contents. The proposed improvement matter is verified through a simulation technique. The purpose of this paper is for a field supervisor to have presented the way that a selection does the most suitable work method to be suitable for a situation, and can forecast production, though a simulation technique is not the most alternative that considered field condition in analyzing productivity measurement.

  • Spray density of the water spray system which is installed in long road tunnels and hazardous vehicle tunnels is applied without proper performance assessment process. In this study, the requirements of Spray Density Guidelines at the standard pressure is investigated through spray test set up the nozzle of a water spray system in a simulated road tunnel. The results showed that all the nozzles used in the test area did not meet the requirements of the Guidelines. The absence of performance test codes and inspection process on the nozzle at real scale in tunnels may have caused this practice. Therefore, it is suggested that the performance test regulations of the nozzle on the water spray system is established in order to properly assess the system performance.

  • In general, risk management consists of a series of processes or steps including risk identification, risk analysis, risk evaluation, risk mitigation measures, and risk re-evaluation. In this paper, potential risk factors that occur in shield TBM tunnels were investigated based on many previous case studies and questionaries to tunnel experts. The risk factors were classified as geological, design or construction management features. Fault Tree was set up by dividing all feasible risks into four groups that associated with: cutter; machine confinement; mucking (driving) and segments. From the Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), 12 risk items were identified and the probability of failure of each chosen risk item was obtained.

  • In this paper, a risk analysis methodology applicable to shield TBM tunnels was studied. Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) was utilized to identify all risk items and to calculate the probability of failure of each item and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was used to obtain the impact of each risk item. Finally, a risk level of each risk item can be assessed. Developed methodology is applied to a Seoul subway site in which EPB shield tunnel method was utilized and it was found that risk analysis results matched reasonably well with field data.

  • Recently, as tunnel structure is getting old, many deformations and defects have been occurred. As tunnel has the characteristics of underground structure, the estimation of the cause of deformation is very difficult. Then, it is necessary to investigate the state of tunnel lining and to estimate the deformation cause and safety for tunnel. In this study, inspection and diagnosis system for effective maintenance in tunnel was researched. Firstly, non-destructive techniques such as GPR (ground penetrating radar), impact echo test, and infrared thermal techniques were applied to tunnel lining inspection. Tunnel lining analysis system was developed to analyze the stability of tunnel. And, tunnel soundness evaluation system was developed to find the probable causes and indicate the method for repair and reinforcement for tunnel.

  • This research has been conducted to investigate the influence of mined cavities on a tunnel to be constructed around a coal mine. The location and dimension of cavities were supposed by analysing synthetically geological structures and condition of coal beds as well as gangway map since there does not exist any map describing mined cavities. Detailed geological and geophygical survey have also been carried out for the purpose of understanding the geological structure and rock mass conditions. The two dimensional numerical analysis with FLAC has been performed on the geological sections reconstituted from the obtained information and the affects of mined cavities on the tunnel have been assessed.
