  • This study was to find characteristics of argumentation derived from a discourse in a math-gifted 5 grade class, which was held for finding a Pick's formula using Geoboard function of TI-73 calculator. For the analysis, a video record of the class, transcript of its voice record, and activity paper were used as data and Toulmin's argument schemes were applied as analysis standard. As a result of the study, we found that the graphing calculator helped the students to create an experimental environment that graphing a grid-polygon and figuring out its area. Furthermore, it also provided a basic demonstration through 'data->claim' composition and reasoning activities which consisted of guarantee, warrant, backing, qualifier and refutal for justifying. The basic argumentation during the process of deriving the Pick's theorem by the numbers of boundary points and inner points was developed into a 'collective argumentation' while a teacher took a role of a conductor of the argumentation and an authorizer on the knowledge at the same time.

  • In this paper, to detect lateral direction sound pressure fiber optic sensor using Fabry-Perot interferometeric sensor array was fabricated and experimented. This parallel sensor array composed of one light source and the light split into each sensor using directional coupler and to see the output signal the array system do not need any digital signal processor. As a lateral direction sound source arbitrary sound frequency of 100Hz, 200Hz, and 655Hz using by nondirectional speaker were applied to the array sensor which installed on $60cm{\times}60cm{\times}60cm$ latticed structure. The detected signals from the two sensors were analyzed in the time and frequency domains. It was confirmed that the suggested sensor array detected applied sound source well but there were a little amplitude differences in between the sensors. Because the sensor supported simply at both ends theoretical analysis was performed and its solution was suggested. To compare the theoretical and experimental results arbitrary sound frequency of 2kHz was applied to the sensor array. It shows that experimental results was good agreement with theoretical results.

  • This research represents comparison and validation of static aerodynamic results in different wind tunnel organizations and EFD-CFD results. KAFA conducted wind tunnel tests with Standard Dynamics Model(SDM) which is based on the NRC model, the same configuration of KARI; and then compared and analyzed similarities and differences of the data from KARI and NRC results for verifying the accuracy of wind tunnel tests. Also, We compared the result of CFD with that of wind tunnel tests and examined strakes effect in static characteristics which are attached on the forward fuselage of SDM for investigating the cause of some discrepancies. From this analysis, there are some discrepancies in Cm tendency between EFD-CFD and it did not show the big difference of aerodynamic characteristics by strake effects. Thus, we need to research additionally for analyzing the different cause of some discrepancies such as vortex structures by the rear strut or intake of SDM and regenerating grid resolution of CFD.

  • The electrocatalytic oxidation of CO was studied using carbon-supported 20 wt% PtRu (PtRu/C) catalysts, which were prepared with different Pt : Ru atomic ratios from 7 : 3 to 3 : 7 using a colloidal method combined with a freeze-drying procedure. The bimetallic PtRu/C catalysts were characterized by various physicochemical analyses, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). CO stripping voltammetry measurements indicated that the addition of Ru with a Pt catalyst significantly improved the electrocatalytic activity for CO electrooxidation. Among the tested catalysts, the $Pt_5Ru_5/C$ catalyst had the lowest onset potential (vs.Ag/AgCl) and the largest CO EAS. Structural modification via lattice parameter change and electronic modification in the unfilled d band states for Pt atoms may facilitate the electrooxidation of CO.

  • The metal-support interaction of copper oxide supported on ${\gamma}$-alumina and silica was studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and temperature-programmed reduction(TPR). It was found that XRD pattern of CuO can not be observed up to 5.0wt % copper content for CuO/${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ while CuO/$SiO_2$ sample shows the CuO pattern even at 2.5wt% copper content. $H_2-$TPR of CuO/${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ system shows four major peaks at 145${\circ}C$, 185${\circ}C$, 210${\circ}C$, and 250${\circ}C$. In the case of CuO/$SiO_2$, a large peak at 250${\circ}C$ was appeared accompanying a small peak at 425${\circ}C$. Comparing the TPR peaks with that of copper aluminate which was prepared from the calcination of CuO/${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ at 1000${\circ}C$, the peaks at around 145${\circ}C$, 200${\circ}C$ (185${\circ}C$ and 210${\circ}C$), and 250${\circ}C$ were corresponded to $Cu^+$ ion in CuO interacting ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$, $Cu^+$ ions in defect sites of ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ and $Cu^{2+}$ ion in the bulk CuO layer, respectively. From the results, it was concluded that there is considerable metal-support interaction in CuO on ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ and the interaction results in a stabilization of $Cu^+$ ion in the system.
