  • In order to complete missions in a complicated terrain or highly dangerous area, an unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) needs a fine controller to precisely follow the desired path. A PID controller used for the path following feeds forward path curvature information to the control input to improve the path following performance. High gain for PID controller is necessary to follow path tightly. However the high gain could cause instability or performance degradation when the vehicle has slow dynamics. We present PID controller design method which considers response delay of vehicle as well as path curvature. In order to obtain path curvature the desired path is described as a 3rd order polynomial by applying cubic spline interpolation. We apply the proposed controller to the path following of a UAV which is operated in high altitude and has very slow lateral dynamics. The lateral dynamics are modelled as a first order delayed system in the controller design. Nonlinear simulation shows the UAV with proposed controller follows an arbitrary path very tightly.

  • This paper aims to present the mathematical model to find the mean web object transfer latency in the slow-start phase of TCP congestion control mechanism, which is one of the main control techniques of Internet. Mean latency is an important service quality measure of end-user in the network. The application area of the proposed latency model is the narrowband environment including multi-hop wireless network and Internet of Things(IoT), where packet loss occurs in the slow-start phase only due to small window. The model finds the latency considering initial window size and the packet loss rate. Our model shows that for a given packet loss rate, round trip time and initial window size mainly affect the mean web object transfer latency. The proposed model can be applied to estimate the mean response time that end user requires in the IoT service applications.

  • Recently, network overload is greatly increased with explosive use of internet. So the Hyper-Text Transfer Protocol(HTTP) is required improve of performance for decreasing of latency on the web document processing. The P-HTTP is one of the improved mood of He HTTP and has pipeline structure, but performance of the P-HTTP is decreased on interaction between the TCP and P-HTTP. Modification of structural design of the HTTP is not enough to improvement this problem. In this paper, we analyse performance of the HTTP and P-HTTP, and propose a new method on improving HTTP latency for the efficient web document processing.

  • The definition of burning admittance and conventional n-$\tau$ stability rating technique are combined to investigate the high frequency combustion instabilities inside the cylindrical combustion chamber. Perturbed flow variables are written as the sum of fluctuating and time-averaged mean quantities on the assumption that the terms of the order higher than unity are sufficiently small, hence linearized governing equations could be formulated. Chamber admittances up and downstream of the flame front calculated with appropriate boundary conditions result in the burning admittance and corresponding n-$\tau$ neutral stability curve. Configurational and operational design factors are tested to detect the unstable wave-induced LOX-RP1 combustion instabilities. Operational design factors, e.g. pressure or O/F ratio, appear less influential to drive high frequency instability while the location of the flame front and configurational factors enhance or deteriorate the stabilities strongly. Conclusively, LOX-RP1 combustion inside the cylindrical combustion chamber is apt to be unstable against long residence time and shortened chamber length.

  • Dynamic response analysis in time dimain is conducted for floating bridges with discrete pontoons subject to spatial variation of ground motions. The Spatial variation of ground motions is considered with the coherency function model which represents wave passage, incoherence and local site effects. The superstructure of the bridge is represented by space frame and elastic catenary cable elements, the abutment us modelde with the spring element of FHWA guideline for considering soil structure interaction and the concept of retardation function is utilized to consider the frequency dependency of the hydrodynamic coefficients which are obtainde by boundary element method. multiple support excitations considering the spatial variation. The noticeable amplification of the response can be shown when the spatial variation of ground motions is incorporated in the anallysis of floating bridges.

  • In this paper, we propose a method of a sound synthesis of Korean plucked string instrument, gayageum, by physical modeling which use impulse responses of body and Anjok. Gayageum consists of three kinds of systems: string, body, and Anjok. These are a serial combination of linear time invariant systems. String can be modeled by digital delay line. Body and Anjok can be estimated by their impulse responses. We found three resonance frequencies in the body impulse response, and implemented resonator as body. Anjok was implemented as high pass filter in fundamental frequency band of gayageum. RMSEs of synthesized sounds are distributed from 0.01 to 0.03. It was difficult to distinguish the resulting synthesized sounds from the originals sound by ear.

  • The stability and efficiency of structural control systems depend on the accuracy of mathematical model of the system to be controlled. In this study, state equation models of a small scale test structure and an AMD(active mass damper) are obtained separately using OKID(observer/Kalman filter identification) which is a time domain system identification method. The test structure with each floor acceleration as outputs is identified for two inputs - the ground acceleration and the acceleration of the moving mass of AMD relative to the installation floor - individually and the two identified state equation models are integrated into one by model reduction method. The AMD is identified with the motor control signal as an input and the relative acceleration of the moving mass as an output, and it is shown that the identified model has large damping ratio and phase shift. The transfer functions and the time histories reconstructed from the identified models of the test model and the AMD match well with those measured from the experiment.

  • The control design for attitude and yaw rate of 40 % scaled SMART UA Vhas been performed. Analytic selection method for a control gain is proposed to meet the design specification of desired time response considering stability margin. The sliding mode attitude controller is also proposed and compared with the simulation results of a linear controller. Additionally, a velocity and height tracking controller is devised to prepar for the flight test.
