A Discriminative Collision Resolution Scheme for Wireless MAC Protocol (무선 MAC 프로토콜을 위한 차별적인 충돌해결 기법)

  • This paper proposes a discriminative collision resolution scheme for the wireless Medium Access Control (MAC) protocols to support the Quality of Service (QoS) requirements of real-time applications. Our scheme deals with access requests in different ways depending on their delay requirements. In our scheme, a Collision Resolution Period (CRP) is used to quickly resolve collisions for the delay sensitive traffic in order to support their delay requirements. Performance analysis and simulation results show that our algorithm may successfully meet the delay requirements of real time applications by reducing access delays and collisions.

  • In broadband wireless networks, the effective meeting of the QoS guarantees may strongly depend on the Contention Resolution Algorithm used in the uplink contention period. The time it takes a station to transmit a successful request to the base station, or request delay, must be kept low even during periods of high contention. If a request suffers many collisions, it cannot rely on the preemptive scheduler to receive low access delays. However, the conventional collision resolution algorithm has a problem that all collided stations are treated equally regardless of their delay from previous contention periods. Some requests may have very long request delay caused by continuous collisions. In this paper, we propose an adaptive collision resolution algorithm for fast random access in broadband wireless networks. The design goal is to provide quick access to the request with a high number of collisions. To do this, the proposed algorithm separates the whole contention region into multiple sub regions and permits access through each sub region only to the requests with equal number of collisions. The sub region is adaptively created according to the feedback information of previous random access. By simulation, the proposed algorithm can improve the performance in terms of throughput, random delay and complementary distribution of random delay by its ability to isolate higher priorities from lower ones. We can notice the algorithm provides efficiency and random access delay in random access environment.

  • IEEE 802.11 무선랜에서 보안 문제는 무선 구간의 암호화와 인증 문제를 들 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 무선랜에서 핸드오프 인증으로 인해 발생하는 지연을 줄이기 위한 방안으로 WEP 키를 저장한 수 있는 캐시를 AP에 적용하는 방안에 대하여 연구하였다. 본 연구 결과에 의해 핸드오프가 빈번하게 일어나는 무선 인터넷 환경에서 각 AP에 캐시를 사용하여 초기 인증시 생성된 WEP 키를 저장하여 재사용함으로써 핸드오프 처리 지연에 대한 개선 효과가 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이와 같은 결과를 최근 활성화 되고 있는 무선 인터넷에 활용하면 향 후 폭발적으로 늘어날 무선 단말기의 핸드오프시 지연에 효율적으로 대응할 수 있을 것이다.

  • NEMO 기본 지원 (NEMO-BS, NEMO Basic Support) 프로토콜에서 MNN(Mobile Network Node)가 CN(Correspondent Node) 과 통신을 하기 위해서는 항상 MR(Mobile Router)과 HA(Home Agent) 사이의 양방향 터널을 이용해야 한다. 그러나 NEMO-BS 방식은 노드 간 데이터 전송 지연과 부분 구간에 대한 공격 가능성이 존재한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 NEMO를 위한 인증된 경로 최적화(ATRO) 프로토콜을 제안한다. MR은 홈 링크로부터 멀어졌다고 판단되면 MNN으로부터 위임 권한을 얻기 위해 권한 위임 프로토콜을 수행한다. 그런 후에 MR과 CN은 공개키 암호 방식을 이용하여 자신의 의탁주소(CoA, Care-of Address)를 MNN의 홈 주소(HoA, Home-of Address)와 매핑하기 위한 등록 과정을 수행한다. 이때 각 노드의 주소 소유권 증명을 위해 암호학적으로 생성한 주소(CGA, Cryptographically Generated Address)를 이용한다. 성능분석에서는 구간별 안전성과 종단간 패킷 전송 지연 시간을 통해 프로토콜을 분석한다.

Collision Avoidance Method Based-on Directional Antenna in Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks에서 방향성 안테나기반 충돌 회피 기법)

  • In the case of traffic accidents, the broadcasting methods used in the mobile ad hoc network (MANET) cannot applied to transmit reliable message since moving high-speed in vehicular ad hoc networks (VANET) environments. In this paper, in order to guarantee transmitting reliable messages, we propose a collision avoidance method based-on directional antenna in VANET. In order to reduce interference from omni-broadcasting and to avoid hidden node problem from moving high-speed, we employed a forward-handed and backward directional antenna. The authors simulated the proposed method based on directional antenna and showed that the proposed method has been improved in respect to network utilization compared to existing VANET protocols.

  • The capillary tube/suction line heat exchanger (SLHX) is widely used in small refrigeration systems. The refrigerant flowing in the SLHX experiences frictional and accelerational head losses, flashing, and heat transfer simultaneously. The simulation of refrigerant flow through SLHX is important since this will help engineers analyze and optimize the SLHX incorporated in a refrigeration system. The present SLHX model is based on conservation equations of mass, momentum and energy. Also a meta-stable model is included. All these equations are solved simultaneously. In this paper, HFC-134a refrigerant flow through a non-adiabatic capillary tube is simulated. The simulation results are discussed but not validated against experimental measurements yet.

  • In this paper, we proposed an efficient TDMA scheduling algorithm for a clustered Wireless Sensor Network. Since some previous algorithms used unnecessary idle period and schedule period in each frame. It became an overhead that might consume unexpected energy and delay data transmission. To solve this problem, a dynamic scheduling algorithm according to the number of member nodes and node traffic load within a cluster was suggested. Our proposed DS-MAC(Dynamic Scheduling MAC) could save energy and reduce transmission delay Then DS-MAC was analyzed mathematically to compare with the previous algorithms.

  • A Contention Access Period(: CAP) with high contention in priority-based MAC protocols can result in higher number of collisions and retransmissions. High-Priority traffic dominates low-priority traffic during CAP depleting low-priority traffic, adversely affecting WBAN throughput, delay, and energy consumption. This paper proposes a Emergency data-First-Priority MAC(: EFP-MAC) superframe structure that is able to reduce contention in the CAP period, and provides a fair chance for low-priority traffic. As a result, the proposed Emergency data-First Priority MAC(; EFP-MAC) The Simulation results show that the proposed MAC achieves lower energy consumption, higher throughput and low latency than the IEEE 802.15.4 standard.

  • Multipath makes clear message transfer difficult in the underwater communication. To solve this problem, we propose a new method producing proper MFSP (Modulation Frequency Shift Period) which could be obtained by calculating time delay caused by different path from a transmitter to a receiver. At the transmitter end, messages were divided according to the size of the MFSP and transmitted accordingly alternating Frequency. At the receiver end, the received messages were demodulated in order to recover the original message by the adaptive BISMO algorithm which is constructed at the algorithm design stage. Adaptive MFSP and estimated BER (Bit Error Rate) were calculated through simulation test.

  • The performance in combination of wired and wireless mesh network which will be a main access network in future internet is directly linked with service quality to users. In this paper, we evaluate variant TCP performance and analyze traffic characteristics on Wireless (Seoul National University Mesh testbed) - Wired (KOREN/Abilene) - Wireless (HP Mesh testbed in the USA) Network. We found that RTT is proper in this network to serve a VoIP service. Also we propose an enhanced TCP protocol which can perform well in both wireless network which has many packet losses and wired network which has high bandwidth and long delay.
