Governance of the Shakespearian Festival of Canada: the Industrial Cluster Approach (캐나다 스트랫포드의 문화산업 클러스터: 셰익스피어 축제를 중심으로)

  • Recently, many cities and regions of the world attempt to promote cultural and arts activities in order to vitalize regional economies and strengthen local identity. Some old industrial cities of the advanced economies in particular often introduce cultural and arts activities in renovating obsolete urban infra-structure, revitalize urban economy, clean polluted urban environment, and advertise various development projects. A small Canadian city, Stratford, Ontario, has shown a spectacular success in such efforts. By hosting Shakespearian festivals every year since 1953, the theatre company, the Shakespearian Festival of Canada in Stratford, sells about 600 thousands tickets, attracting 2 million visitors to the area. With the festivals, the city became able to host a large cultural cluster composed of the theatre company, chef school, summer music festival, and Chicago Associates. The city has also able to maintain one of the most competent theatre companies in the North America.

  • These days sex has become a tool of interest, a constant stream of sex crimes occurs and it brings the age of population cliffs to an age of low birth rates. As an alternative to overcome these problems, we should establish the praying for a child, which has been our ancestors' way of life, as a sacred culture that holds the mystery of life-birth with a new awareness. Therefore, the purpose of this study is not to re-enact the Zhaungam area as a fun and interesting place, but as a sacred place to pray for the nobility, longevity and wealth of life. Based on the spirit of natural love, meeting, healing, and love based on the spirit of traditional culture, Doridori was chosen as the main theme of the project based on the spirit of natural love and life-respect, and the name "Doridori Secret Garden" was given out of 10 medals in Dandong for tourism storytelling. Cultural content becomes a marketing tool for the region and acts as a force for tourists to visit the area. In this context, it was confirmed that the creation of "Doridori Secret Garden" could lead to a high value-added industry that attracts tourists by enhancing the brand value of Andong and showing sufficient significance to become a new attraction. This study is intended to re-create the Zhaungam area as a sacred place to pray for the nobility of life and longevity and wealth of life, noting that people still pray for the birth of their children in Zhaungam and Zhagungam.

  • This study paid attention to the social cultural ripple effect which as a project for the past 10 years, the corporate social responsibility gave to local residents. Especially the study considered the effect appearing from encouragement of cultural activities of residents in abandoned mine which were culturally disadvantaged, and would search for productive ways for continuous development of casino industry and local community in the future. The study area was mainly Taebaek, Gohan, Sabuk located in abandoned mine and the number of residents involved were 185. Through surveys, first, demographic characteristics of respondents were investigated, second, recognition level and satisfaction, third, social cultural impacts of social responsibility of Kangwon Land according to that, and last negative image make over by corporate social responsibility were analyzed. As the result of the investigation, 185 of first response in general recognized the corporate social responsibility of Kangwon Land, and their satisfaction about that was also high. In addition they felt the quality of life were bettered after the development of casino.

  • Regional tourism is an effective means of revitalizing the local economy and improving the image of the region. In order to revitalize this, efforts should be made to create regionally specialized tourism products and to preserve the unique culture and traditions. Among them, gathering information about visitors and securing the quality competitiveness of the contents of tourism contents are very important to increase the potential of cultural tourism festival. This paper collects, refines, and processes the festival-related data in a specific area in order to enhance the visitor's tourism needs and satisfaction. In particular, negative words and positive words raised during the festival were analyzed through big data visualization using word cloud.

  • 경상북도는 경상도 개도 700주년인 2014년 완공을 목표로 새로운 도청 청사를 경북 안동시 풍천면과 예천군 호명면 일원에 건설 중에 있다. 경북도청 이전사업은 지난 1981년 대구시가 직할시로 승격 분리되면서 경북도민의 자긍심을 세우기 위해 신비의 가야문화, 천년의 신라문화, 지조의 유교문화가 융합된 민족문화의 본산지이자 한국의 정신 및 문화수도를 계승하는 한편 새로운 천년을 준비하기 위한 사업으로 추진되었다. 이에 따라 경상북도는 지난 2008년 안동시 풍천면과 예천군 호명면 일원을 도청 이전 예정지로 정하고 기본계획 수립 및 설계 시공을 일괄발주(턴키)하여 2011년 2월 (주)대우건설 컨소시엄[대우건설 지분 50%, 풍림산업, 세원건설(구미), 우석종합건설(경주), 동일건설(문경), 주일건설(경산), (주)진영종합건설(포항) 등 6개 업체의 50% 참여지분]을 실시설계 적격자로 선정, 2011년 10월 첫 삽을 떴다. 경상북도는 오는 2027년까지 경북도청 행정타운을 중심으로 3단계에 걸쳐 주거, 산업, 교육, 레저 및 문화단지 등 10만명의 인구가 거주할 신도시를 건립할 계획이다. 또한 이 지역은 지리적으로 세계문화유산이자 한국 정신문화의 수도인 안동 하회마을과 가깝고 한국적 우아함을 느낄 수 있는 지역이자 중앙고속도로, 고속국도 및 철도 등이 관통하고 있어 도내 주변도시와의 연계성이 높아서 경북지역의 신성장 거점도시로 성장할 전망이다.

The Inflow of the Creative-Class and Forming of Cultural Landscape on the Kyunglidan-Gil (경리단길 창조계급의 유입과정과 문화경관 형성요인)

  • With the recent 'Creative economy' and 'Cultural prosperity' coming to the fore as a new code to build up a city or a region, it is necessary to focus on strengthening the regional creative capacity as well as developing spontaneous regional culture. In such trend this research aims to explore the Kyunglidan-gil, Seoul, Korea in which creative-class are appearing autogenously in clusters and forming new cultural landscape, to identify the factors of their accumulation and changing aspect of cultural landscape. This study has the following purposes: First, Investigating the historical context of the Kyunglidan-gil's landscape. Second, considering the process of the creative-class being flowed into the Kyunglidan-gil as the subject leading to the modification of the region. Third, their activity was analyzed to consider the unique aspect of forming the cultural landscape at the Kyunglidan-gil. Regarding why the creative-class should flow in, results of the study drew five factors including region in issue compared to inexpensive rents, coexistence with nature, quiet atmosphere seeming isolated from the urban confusion, location possible to test and share individual materials one likes, and a site with synergy effect of activity through the network with acquaintances. Also, five characteristics of cultural landscape forming by the people's activity were drawn - space of communication for increasing creativity, temporary and flexible spatial use, expression of one's identity and taste, distinguishing, and positive use of the existing facilities. Like this, by exposing the 'creative-class', a subject of the leader in changing process of the Kyunglidan-gil, this research identified the aspect of forming cultural landscape.

  • To study hotels related to early modern cultural heritage, this study has, first, attempted a historical approach through literature analysis and established an early modern hotel development history. Second, it has strived to suggest tourism industrial utilization measures by studying tourism industrial utilization cases through materials on the restoration of Daebul Hotel and interviews with related parties. Consequently, the researcher offers the following as tourism industrial revitalization measures for the restoration of early modern hotels. First, restoration plans for early modern hotels from early modern heritage in each region should be made on the basis of thorough examination of justifiability and of content development plans. Second, restoration of early modern hotels in each region requires the establishment and intent of an administrative management system by local governments. Third, restoration of early modern hotels is a thing of historical significance and value and should be promoted as a business that can contribute to revitalization of tourism and economic effects, acceleration of employment, etc., in each region. Fourth, preparation of a consistent, proactive advertisement methods regarding the restoration of early modern hotels is necessary.

  • Although crafts industry in Chungcheongbuk-do where Cheongju International Craft Biennale is held has an excellent infrastructure, it is backward comparing with other regions. So we face up to the reality and desire to contribute to the creation of added value and the development of local crafts culture through study on the here and the hereafter of Chungbuk crafts industry. We figure out the customer satisfaction and the potential customer preference for cultural products on sale currently. Then, we establish a detailed marketing strategy and study the way how we can solve the current difficulties including design, technique and marketing.
