  • In most countries, public libraries play a role as a knowledge and information hub for local communities, a complex cultural space, and a third place for meetings and communication. Among the work of public libraries for this purpose, the key point is systematic collection development, and the established collection is essential for all knowledge and information services. In particular, local representative libraries must perform legal duties as a comprehensive knowledge information center for metropolitan governments, and develop, preserve, and service specialized collections that are difficult for other public libraries. Therefore, we analyzed the development cases of specialized collections of public libraries in large cities in foreign countries and local representative libraries in Korea, surveyed the degree of awareness of specialized collections for employees of public libraries and the cultural to geography in Gyeongbuk region. Based on the background information, this study proposed the development plan and establishment strategy of the Gyeongbuk Library specialized collection, which was named "Gyeongbuk Knowledge and Cultural Heritage."

  • Due to the rapid development of AI-related industries, countless edge devices are working in the real world. Since data generated within the smart space consisted of these devices is beyond imagination, it is becoming increasingly difficult for edge devices to process. To solve this issue, EdgeCPS has appeared. EdgeCPS is a technology to support harmonious execution of various application services including AI applications through interworking between edge devices and edge servers, and augmenting resources/functions. Therefore, we propose a knowledge-sharing graph-based componentized AI application support system applicable to the EdgeCPS platform. The graph is designed to effectively store information which are essential elements for creating AI applications. In order to easily change resource/function augmentation under the support of the EdgeCPS platform, AI applications are operated as components. The application support system is linked with the knowledge graph so that users can easily create and test applications, and visualizes the execution aspect of the application to users as a pipeline.

  • This article focused on heterotopian spaces of modern Korea in the colonial era. This paper attempted to understand the features of heterotopia in the era. Heterotopia was slightly grotesque in modernity, but in the colonial era, people expected to realize the hope of contemporary society. Also, while analyzing discourses on heterotopia, this study identified another point of view on modernity in the era,. Pagoda Park, where March First Independence Movement was conducted and the psychiatric hospital East Ward Eighth, were heterotopian spaces at the times. Those spaces are represented as failure of modernity. Nevertheless, those spaces functioned as utopia, where people could speak freely on 'the independence'. But the governing system considered such speech as deceptive strange stories. Strange stories that inexplicably, revealed imperfection of the governing system and caused anxiety about the foundation of daily life. In conclusion, this article could provide understanding of another side of acceptance of modernity in the colonial era i.e., anxiety. It was revealed through the finding of heterotopia and analyzing discourses on heterotopia in the colonial Korea.

  • This study, as primary research that examines the communication characteristics of the library and the perception of librarians in order to make public libraries a communication space, surveyed the perception of librarians in public libraries and made an attempt to devise activation measures for the communication spaces of the library. As a result, the communication characteristics of the library were derived to be locality, community spirit, and interactivity. In addition, the perception survey found that librarians have positive remarks about the communication spaces of the library. As it shows a high degree of awareness, the library should focus on ways to revitalize communication. First, the direction of communication must be set in order to fulfill library's new role in communication and exchange. Second, it is desirable for the library to free itself from being a quiet space and recreate it as a space for communication. Third, the library needs to exchange and connect with organizations, groups, and gatherings of the community. Fourth, it seems necessary for the library to provide support for the users' independent and voluntary communication and operation of the community.

  • As a new community forming environment, the blog platform enables sharing of the resources in blogosphere through active information exchange. Many researches have been performed to recommend appropriate resources to users from vast amounts of blog resources. As one of the solutions OSEM defines the knowledge base in the blogosphere with ontology for effectively modeling it. In this paper, we propose a technique of converting the knowledge base into the OWL ontology for sharing it on the semantic web environment. An inference method is then applied to the OWL ontology for recommending interest blog communities. For this aim, a mapping method is offered and then SWRL inference and SPARQL query based on the ontology are employed to extract interest blog communities.
