Development of Simulator for Analyzing Intercept Performance of Surface-to-air Missile (지대공미사일 요격 성능 분석 시뮬레이터 개발)

  • In modern war, Intercept Performance of SAM(Surface to Air Missile) is gaining importance as range and precision of Missile and Guided Weapon on information warfare have been improved. An aerial defence system using Surface-to-air Radar and Guided Missile is needed to be built for prediction and defense from threatening aerial attack. When developing SAM, M&S is used to free from a time limit and a space restriction. M&S is widely applied to education, training, and design of newest Weapon System. This study was conducted to develop simulator for evaluation of Intercept Performance of SAM. In this study, architecture of Intercept Performance of SAM analysis simulator for estimation of Intercept Performance of various SAM was suggested and developed. The developed Intercept Performance of SAM analysis simulator was developed by C++ and Direct3D, and through 3D visualization using the Direct3D, it shows procedures of the simulation on a user animation window. Information about design and operation of Fighting model is entered through input window of the simulator, and simulation engine consisted of Object Manager, Operation Manager, and Integrated Manager conducts modeling and simulation automatically using the information, so the simulator gives user feedback in a short time.

Polynomial-time Greedy Algorithm for Anti-Air Missiles Assignment Problem (지대공 미사일 배정 문제의 다항시간 탐욕 알고리즘)

  • During the modern battlefields of multi-batches flight formation attack situation, it is an essential task for a commander to make a proper fire distribution of air defense missile launch platforms for threat targets with effectively and quickly. Pan et al. try to solve this problem using genetic algorithm, but they are fails. This paper gets the initial feasible solution using high threat target first destroying strategy only use 75% available fire of each missile launch platform. Then, the assigned missile is moving to another target in the case of decreasing total threat. As a result of experiment, while the proposed algorithm is polynomial-time complexity greedy algorithm but this can be improve the solution than genetic algorithm.

  • 보스니아 내전 지역을 정찰비행 중이던 미 해군 F/A-18F 슈퍼 호넷을 향해 갑자기 지대공 미사일 공격이 가해진다. 조종사는 미사일의 추적을 뿌리치기 위해 모든 방어 장비를 총 동원해 회피 기동을 펼치지만 결국 적진 한 복판에서 격추되고 만다. 지난 2002년 1월 개봉한 영화 에너미 라인스(Behind Enemy Lines) 초반에 등장하는 장면이다. 영화에서 묘사된 것과 같이 미사일은 피아를 불문하고 가장 강력한 공격무기이자 가장 대응하기 까다로운 무기다.

저고도 대공방어 무기체계-균형유지의 필요성을 중심으로

  • 오늘날 기동하는 장갑부대 및 기계화부대등 고가의 군사자산 보호는 제5의 위협으로 상정한바 있는 지상공격기(항공기, 유도미사일, 무인항공기 등)의 다양한 공격위협과 교전할 수 있는 전천후 방공능력이 절실히 요구되고 있기 때문에 서방 선진국은 저고도용 지대공 미사일(스팅어, 스타버스트, 미스트랄, RBS-70, 이글라 등)개발과 단일 장갑 차량에 "복합 방공무기체계"를 경쟁적으로 개발 및 운용하고, 중단거리 기동 방공체계를 연구 개발중이다. 특히 고도로 유동적인 장차전의 전장환경에서 적은 최신 무기로 공중침투 공격을 감행할 것으로 예상된다. 따라서 이 글에서는 선진국의 "저고도 대공방어 무기체계"를 고찰하고자 한다.

  • The stealth performance of supersonic aircraft in recent air battlefield is one of the most significant feature for latest fighters. Especially, as the technology is advancing, the IR stealth capability becomes more important because of its passive characteristic. To design an aircraft with stealth capability, we must know how much the IR signature is generated from the aircraft. Also, predicting the IR signature of enemy's aircraft is tactically crucial. In this study, we calculated MWIR and LWIR infrared signature of $5^{th}$ generation supersonic aircraft against air-to-air and surface-to-air threat using IR simulation code and CFD coupled procedure.

Investigation of IR Survivability of Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle against Surface-to-Air Missiles (무인전투기의 지대공 미사일에 대한 IR 생존성 분석)

  • As the survivability of an aircraft in the battlefield becomes a critical issue, there is a growing need to improve the survivability of the aircraft. In this study, the survivability of an UCAV associated with plume IR signature was investigated. In order to analyze the survivability of the aircraft, the lock-on range and the lethal envelope, defined as the IR detection distance of the aircraft and the range of shooting down by the missile, respectively, were first introduced. Further, a method to calculate the lethal envelope for the scenario of surface-to-air missiles including the vertical plane was developed. The study confirmed that the red zone of an UCAV shows a substantial difference in the zone size as well as the characteristics in the upward and downward directions.

A Design of Management and Verification Tool of Component and A Development of SAM Simulator based on Dynamic Reconfiguration Architecture (컴포넌트 관리 및 검증도구 설계와 동적 재구성 아키텍처 기반 SAM 시뮬레이터 개발)

  • Modeling and simulation techniques construct experimental environment considering battlefields and are able to analyze performance of components of weapon system that closely resemble reality. However, developed model has low scalability and not cared reusability because it has been used only in a limited range of domain. In this paper, we develop a verification tool to verify reusability of developed component for dynamic reconfiguration and to judge scalability of it and a management tool to control data of it effectively. In addition, dynamic reconfiguration architecture of guided weapon systems designed in the previous study has been applied to SAM(Surface to Air Missile) System Simulator, and we study effectiveness of the developed component. Thus the user can configure various guided weapon systems through simulation application of dynamic reconfiguration architecture of component.
