  • The synthesis of N-acrylylpyrrolidone has been carried out by the reaction of pyrrolidone and acrylyl chloride. The study on the copolymer of N-acrylylpyrrolidone and styrene is attempted.The copolymerization of N-acrylylpyrrolidone and styrene is carried out in benzene.Monomer reactivity ratio of N-acrylylpyrrolidone and styrene was calculated by Fineman and Ross equation. It is observed that the copolymer of N-acrylylpyrrolidone and styrene has random distributed acyl-lactam function on the vinyl polymer backbone.

  • Tris(hydroxyethyl) phosphate, ethylphosphoramidic dichloride, N,N-diethylphosphoramidic dichloride, bis(hydroxyethyl) N-ethylphosphoramidate and bis(hydroxyethyl) N,N-diethylphosphoramidate were synthesized and characterized. Phosphate and phosphoramidates were polymerized with the elimination of ethylene glycol when heated under reduced pressure and they gave no molecular ion peaks in their mass spectra. And also ethylphosphoramidic dichloride gave polymeric products at 180$^{\circ}C$ with the evolution of HCl. IR spectra showed characteristic P=O streching bands in the range of 1,300 to$ 1,200 cm^{-1}.$

  • Phosphates and phosphoric amides were synthesized by the reaction of phosphoryl chloride with allyl alcohol, 2,3-dibromopropanol, 2-pyrrolidone and ethylenimine. All of these compounds were thermally very unstable. Allyl phosphorodichoridate and diallyl phosphorochloridate gave significant amount of polymeric products when they were distilled. IR spectra showed characteristic P=O stretching bands between 1300 and $1200 cm^{-1}$ and NMR spectra were very complicated due to the long range coupling effect of phosphorus atom. And mass spectrum of 2,3-dibromopropyl phosphorodichloridate gave no indication of molecular ion peak.

  • In this study we measured oxidation potentials and current densities for poly(vinylcholride) (PVC) and poly(carbonate)(PC) in nonaqueous solutions, in order to find out how corrosion (oxidation) potentials depend on temperature, pH, enzyme, or added salts. The Tafel's slopes were determined from the Tafel plots of polarization curves. The transfer coefficients (${\alpha}$) wre evaluated from the slope(1-${\alpha}$)nF/2.3 RT, and the electrode reactions appeared irreversible under all conditions.

  • Cellulose acetate (CA) and poly-4-vinyl pyridine (PVP) in various weight proportions were mixed in a mixed solvent of trifluoroacetic acid: methylene chloride/6:4 (v:v). CA was miscible with PVP in that solvent system. CA/PVP/solvent show liquid crystal in a certain range of concentration and the nature of that liquid crystal was cholesteric. Films of the liquid crystal composite cast from the liquid crystal solutions of CA/PVP were tested in a viewpoint of biomembrane. Results show that considering permselectivity CA/PVP membrane is better than that of CA and CA/PVP membrane is closer to cell membrane.

  • Vulcanized natural rubber was pulverized using a single screw extruder in a non-cryogenic Solid Shear Extrusion process where rubber granulates were subjected to high compressive and shear stresses. The producted particles had diameters ranging from 40 to 1200$\{mu}m$. A principle used in this paper was developed in Russia. The development method for producing a polymeric material powder consists in compressing said material by shearing the material during a pressure increase and cooling. Consecutive breakdown is carried out by shearing the material during the pressure decrease and cooling.

  • This study investigates the rheological properties of in-situ polymerized solutions of polyacrylonitrile(PAN) and acrylonitrile(AN) -itaconic acid(IA) in dimethyl sulfoxide(DMSO) in terms of temperature, concentration, and time. The complex viscosity and storage modulus of the solutions were generally increased with elapsing time, which is ascribable to the three-dimensional pseudostructures formed by strong inter- or Intra-molecular attractions through Polar -CN and -COOH groups. The three-dimensional pseudonetworks would lead to relation of the acrylic solutions in long term. This was more noticeable at higher temperature within the temperature range examined. In the case of 20% solutions one can not observe lower Newtonian flow region in the viscosity curve. Disappearance of lower Newtonian flow region is indicative of heterogeneity of the solution system. Casson Plot of the viscosity data revealed that 20% solutions of PAN and AN-IA copolymer in DMSO clearly demonstrated positive yield stress, ascertaining formation of pseudostructures in the solution systems.

  • 에틸렌글리콜(ethyleneglycol)을 이용한 폴리비닐에테르(polyvinyl ether)와 같은 고분자물질을 활용하여 Co$^{30}$ 방사선원으로부터 ${\gamma}$선을 조사시켜, 고분자 물질의 성질을 변화시킴으로써 화학, 전기전자, 환경 및 기타 여러 가지 응용분야에 적용하여 이용할 수 있는 기술을 개발하였다. 이를 바탕으로 관련재료의 단량체(monomer)로부터 중합체(polymer)를 합성하여 water swelling을 시키는 과정에서 각종 (금속) 이온을 흡입-제거하는 방법의 환경복원기술, 흡입 금속이온을 표면에 밀집시켜 금속막을 형성하는 응용기술, 생체조직의 대용물질로 활용하는 의용공학 및 열감지특성(thermal sensitive property) 또는 pH 감지특성(pH sensitive property)을 이용하여 의용기술에 적용하는 polymer 응용기술 등의 폭넓은 활용을 위하여 그 일환으로 전도성 고분자 제조기술로의 활용가능성을 연구하였다.
