  • The kinetic coefficients far decomposition of the cured phenol resin (SC-1008) using a modified Arrhenius relationship have been determined from thermogavimetric analyses (TGA). The kinetic parameters were determined by multiple heating rate technique developed by Freideman and Henderson. Weight loss (decomposition) and weight loss rate (decomposition rate)were measured and recorded for three heating rates; $5^{\circ}C$/min ,$10^{\circ}C$/min, and $20^{\circ}C$/min. Relatively good agreement was obtained between measured and calculated decomposition as a function of temperature. By separating the reaction, the reaction order and pre exponential factor become empirical parameters which provide a "best fit" of the data. However, this method yields an extremely accurate reproduction of the thermograms over a wide range of heating rates. This is the desired result for kinetic parameters used in thermal models.al models.

  • Nowadays, three-dimensional computer added design(3D CAD) tool are widely and actively used for design of mechanical machine. Because using the tool is more effective to understand design concept and to collaborate with other operation than using two-dimensional design tool. In this study, the 3D CAD tool which is called I-DEAS was applied for three-dimensional modeling of main parts and assembling of modeled parts for identification the entire shape of a injection molding machine. In addition, a study was also performed regarding reduction for the weight of main plates for saving production cost and energy in the machine. A finite element method(FEM) program in I-DEAS tool was used for the improvement study. First, the current main plates were structural analysed and then the plate deformations, weak regions and stress distributions were graped. By the FEM results, the 2nd improved designing of the plates was conducted such as reinforcement or slimming of the plate wall thickness. The 2nd structural FEM was performed for verification of the redesigned plates and then the FEM results were compared with the 1st FEM's result. The weight of the main plates were averagely reduced approximately 3 - 7%. By these results, it was seemed that the improved plates have a useful availability.

  • This study aims at calculating the exact soil conversion factor of cutting and banking areas of weathering rocks in large-scaled construction sites where land is being developed into home lots. For this, we have excavated the respective 20 sites of the cutting and banking areas in the said site and then calculated the volume after the excavation. As a result, the relative accuracy of the difference was calculated at 0.5% in average. We have calculated the exact soil conversion factor by the use of function ratio as per the wet unit weight and the indoor soil quality test as per volume calculated. And then we have found out minor differences as a result of the comparison and analysis with soil conversion factor determined by the dry unit weight test as per sand replacement method. This may be judged as a rational design method for the calculation of soil conversion factor, as well as high reliability of site test as a precision photogrammetry is adopted for volume measurement of the irregular excavating areas.

Effect of MA Packaging on Quality of 'Fuji' Apple (MA저장법이 '후지' 사과의 품질에 미치는 영향)

  • To investigate the effect of funcitional MA film 0.3 mm and control(non-pack) during 24 weeks of storage on 'Fuji' apple, the weight loss, firmness, a titratable acidity, soluble solid content(SSC $^{\circ}Brix$) and the rate of decay were measured. After 20 week storage, weight loss was $4.65\%$ in control, but $0.31\%$ in 0.03 mm funcitional MA film. The titratable acidity, soluble solid content and firmness were changed a little. The rate of decay was $4.2\%$ in control, and $1.1\%$ in funcitional MA film.

  • The corrosion inhibition of imatinib mesylate (IMT) on mild steel in 0.25 M sulphuric acid has been studied using gravimetric and potentiodynamic polarization techniques at various concentrations of inhibitor, temperature and fluid velocities. The results obtained showed that, inhibition efficiency (% IE) increases with increasing concentration of the inhibitor. The adsorption process on mild steel surface follows Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The values of Gibbs free energies of adsorption obtained suggest that, the adsorption process of IMT on mild steel is chemisorption. Thermodynamic parameters were evaluated and discussed. The electron orbital density distribution of HOMO and LUMO of IMT was used to discuss the inhibition mechanism. FT-IR spectroscopy and SEM images were used to analyze the surface adsorbed film.

국의 영양소 구성의 다양성

  • 본 연구에서는 국의 영양소 구성의 다양성을 평가하고 국의 영양에 대하여 고찰하고 영양소 구성을 평가하는 방법에 대하여 고찰하였다. 국의 조리법에 관한 전문서적, 전문잡지 등으로부터 562가지의 국의 레시피를 수집하고 168가지의 전형적인 국의 레시피를 만들어 이를 기본 데이터로 하여 국의 열량 및 영양소를 분석하였다. 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 168가지 국의 열량 및 영양소 함유량의 평균치를 보면, 한국인을 위한 영양권장량에 대한 충족률이 6.3%(열량)~41.3%(비타민 A)의 범위에 이른다. 그리고 (밥과 국)만으로도 지방을 제외한 영양소를 한 끼 영양권장량의 50% 이상 섭취할 수 있다. 국은 영양이 풍부한 음식임이 분명하다. 2. 영양소 구성의 다양성을 평가하기 위하여 한 끼 영양권장량의 50% 이상 섭취할 수 있는 영양소의 구성을 살펴보았다. 영양소 구성의 다양성에 따르면 (밥과 국)의 82.8%가 '양호한 영양소 구성' 이상이라고 평가되었다. 국은 훌륭한 영양소 구성을 가진 음식으로 평가한다. 3. (밥과 국)의 영양소 구성의 다양성과 국을 만드는데 쓰이는 식재료의 수, 종류, 중량과의 관계를 분석한 결과로부터 '양호한 영양소 구성'을 가진 국을 만드는 간단한 지침을 얻었다. 실제로 국을 만들 때 주로 쓰이는 식재료인 담색채소, 녹황색채소, 어패류, 육류, 두류ㆍ두제품 중에서 3가지를 100g 이상 되도록 준비하여 국을 만들면 '양호한 영양소 구성'을 가진 국을 만들 수 있다. 4. (밥과 국)의 영양소 구성의 다양성의 특징을 바탕으로 적절한 영양을 섭취할 수 있는 식사가 되기 위해 다른 반찬을 곁들이는 지침을 제안하였다. 국을 만들 때 1~2가지의 식재료를 이용한다면 영양소 구성의 다양성이 모자라기 쉽기 때문에 육류ㆍ어패류ㆍ난류 두류 반찬과 채소 반찬을 반드시 갖추어야 한다. 반면, 국의 식재료가 6이상이면 열량과 지방이 넘칠 수 있으므로 육류ㆍ어패류ㆍ난류ㆍ두류 반찬을 반드시 갖출 필요가 없다.

  • As the construction projects become higher, larger and more complex, they become more dangerous, especially vertical transportation activities. So this study analyzed 122 critical accident cases reported to the KOSHA(Korea Occupational Safety & Health Agency) for construction cranes by types of cranes, patterns of accidents and causes. It is expected that the results of this study can be used as useful basic data or material when preparing for special safety education and training for preventing crane accidents.

Evaluation of 3-week Repeated Dose Oral Toxicity on Amomum tsao-ko Extract in Balb/c Mice (Balb/c 마우스에서 초과 추출물의 3주간 반복 경구투여 독성평가)

  • In the present study, we investigated the oral toxicity of Amomum tsao-ko Crevost et Lemaire, (Zingiberaceae) extract in Balb/c mice (BALB, n=60) for 3 weeks. Balb/c mice (10 mice/group, 6 group, $20{\pm}2g$, 6 weeks) were orally administered for 21 days, with dosage of 250, 500, 1000, 2000 mg/kg/day. Ethanol extract of A. tsao-ko did not affect any significant change of mortality, clinical signs, organs and body weights. Also, there were not significantly difference from the naive group (control) in hematological and serum biochemical examination. Consequently, these findings indicate that 3-week treatment with the ethanol extract of A. tsao-ko was not any toxic effects in Balb/c mice and the no-observed adverse effect level (NOAEL) for oral toxicity was determined to be 2000 mg/kg/day under our experimental conditions.

Synthesis and Characterization of Polymers with Azobenzene and Hexamethylene Groups in Main Chain (주사슬에 아조벤젠기와 헥사메틸렌기를 갖는 고분자의 합성 및 특성)

  • Polymers with various compositions of azobenzene and hexamethylene groups in the main chain were synthesized by a Schotten-Baumann reaction and their properties were investigated. The chemical structures and physical properties of the synthesized polymers were investigated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, polarized optical microscopy, and x-ray diffraction. The polymers showed an inherent viscosity of 1.28-1.36 dl/g and were relatively insoluble in most organic solvents. The melt transition temperature increased rapidly with increasing number of azobenzene groups in the polymer. When the azobenzene monomer content was more than 50 mol%, no melting transition occurred below the decomposition temperature. Among the polymers with a melt transition temperature, the MP-A3C7 and MP-A5C5 polymers were liquid crystalline materials and exhibited a nematic phase with weak liquid crystallinity over a wide liquid crystal temperature range. This difference in the properties of the synthesized polymers is likely due to the changes in intermolecular forces resulting from the linearity and polarity of the trans-form of azobenzene.

The Optimal Design of Steel Truss by Geometric Programming Method (기하적(幾何的) 계획법(計劃法)에 의한 강재(鋼材)트러스구조물(構造物)의 최적설계(最適設計)에 관한 연구(研究))

  • This paper applies an optimization algorithm for the elastic truss structures. The acceleration technique utilized in this study is the geometric programming method developed by the Operation Research or the applied methematics. The applicability and the efficiency of the algorithm applied in this study are tested for four different trusses. Test results show that the optimum solutions are obtained after only one or seven iterations which is very small compared with other techniques and no oscillation is needed for the convergency. Test rusults also show that the Geometric Programming Method is also effective algorithm for the convergency of the Optimum Solution in case of only being compared with the number of iteration.
