  • This study aims to investigate predictors of the subjective well-being of middle-aged single mothers who experienced divorce or bereavement. The study involved 244 divorced or widowed women from the 7th Korean Longitudinal Survey of Women and Families aged 40-60 who had children and were employed. Descriptive statistics and multiple regression analyses were conducted. The research results showed that the socio-demographic characteristic (marital status and health), person-related variables (satisfaction with leisure activity and stress), and work-related variables (job satisfaction and work-family enrichment) were significantly related to happiness of middle-aged single mothers. Current economic status and stress were associated with depression in middle-aged single mothers. Increasing middle-aged single mothers' participation in healthy leisure activities, reducing their stress, and improving their satisfaction with work were found to be important to enhancing their subjective well-being. Regarding the foregoing, policy directions were discussed for middle-aged single mothers' leisure activities, stress management, and improved satisfaction with work.

Data were as collected by self-reported questionnaires from 205 middle-age women. The instruments were the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression scale (CES-D), Brief Encounter Psychosocial Instrument (BEPSI), Self-Esteem Scale (SES). The data were analyzed using t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple regression with IBM SPSS Statistics ver. 21.0. Pearson correlation coefficient analysis found that oral health impact profile (OHIP) was significantly associated with depression (r=-0.560, p<0.001), stress (r=-0.595, p<0.001), self-esteem (r=0.522, p<0.001). The OHIP was explained 39.4% by stress (${\beta}$=-0.362, p<0.001), self-esteem (${\beta}$=0.203, p=0.009) using multiple regression analysis. These results indicate that the intervention program of oral health promotion for community-middle- aged women is needed from now on.

Results: Level of depression was low, self-identity was slightly high, and menopausal symptoms were relatively low in these middle-aged women. There were significant differences in depression by perceived health status and perceived economic status. Depression had a moderate negative correlation with self-identity (r=-.49, p<.001) and a moderate positive correlation with menopausal symptoms (r=.57, p<.001). Menopausal psychological symptoms were the factor most affecting depression and explained 37% of the variance in depression. • The purpose of this paper is to empirically grasp the influence on self-efficacy and depression and the relationship between variables, focusing on middle-aged women in their 40s and 50s who are psychologically and socially vulnerable. Through this, it was intended to explore the psychological problems of highly educated careerinterrupted women from a personal perspective and further derive implications for the development of policies and services for socially highly educated career-interrupted women. The relationship between variables was analyzed through a survey based on measurement tools structured by variables of Saju factors, self-efficacy, and depression, and the effect of the sub-dimensional characteristics of Saju structure on self-efficacy, and the resulting level of depression were verified through structural equation model analysis. Bigeop, Jaeseong, and Kwanseong have been found to have a positive and direct effect on self-efficacy and negative direct effect on depression, eventually increasing self-efficacy and lowering depression. It was found that Siksang had a positive (+) relationship with depression and a negative (-) relationship with self-efficacy, but Inseong did not directly affect self-efficacy and depression. In addition, the indirect effects between variables and the effects between self-efficacy and depression were identified.

Methods: Data from 80 Korean-American women living in Los Angeles, USA and 82 Korean women living in W-city, Korea, were collected using a self administered questionnaire including items on HLOC, HPLP, a Wellbeing Index and Major Depression Inventory. Results: There were statistically significant differences between the middle aged Koreans and Korean-Americans on mean age, education, religion, and current health insurance. Significant differences were found on HLOC (F= 2.504, p=.033) and Wellbeing (F=2.451, p=.036). The results also showed significant differences on HPLP (total HPLP, F=4.655, p=.001; physical activity, F=2.967, p=.014; nutrition, F=4.250, p=.001; spiritual growth, F=4.398, p=.001; interpersonal relations, F=2.648, p=.025; and stress management, F=5.201, p<.001) using ANCOVA. However, there were no significant differences on depression, or health responsibility in HPLP between the groups. Conclusion: Understanding middle aged women's health adjustments based on their culture will enhance the ability of health professionals to provide culturally congruent care and enable middle aged women to develop healthy lifestyles.
