The most widely used information searching method in the current internet environment is the keyword-based one, which has certain limitations in terms of precision and recall. Most major internet portals provide directory-based searching as a means to complement these limitations. However, that they adopt different classification schemes brings significant inconvenience to the users, and it consequently suggests a need to develop mapping gateway to provide cross-portal, or cross-directory information searching. In this context, this study attempts to develop a prototype system of intermediary gateway for integrated search, using the directory services of three major portals, Naver, Yahoo and Empas, and test its performance.

The need for a unified data communication for home digital devices and realtime multimedia services in home network has led to recent research on home gateway over the broadcasting and communication convergence network. In this paper, we discuss requirement for such home gateway design and define services that the home gateway provides. Then, we propose a home gateway architecture aimed to efficient multimedia distribution for heterogeneous devices in the home network. The proposed home gateway has a role of protocol gateway, media server, and media trans-coder. Finally, we show the feasibility of the proposed home gateway in several multimedia distribution scenario.

In this paper we propose a multi-protocol gateway system based on low power wireless communications. The proposed multi-protocol gateway system was designed to allow real-time monitoring and control of the on-site situation through wired and wireless networks by gathering information for streetlight power control and environmental monitoring. The sensing data using multi-sensors with composite processing that selectively used wired or wireless communication (e.g., CDMA, Ethernet (TCP/IP), GPS, etc.) were designed to act as intermediaries that transmitted to the main server through ZigBee. Inaddition, they were designed by separating a CPU board and baseboard to ensure low maintenance cost and ease of hardware replacement. The proposed multi-protocol gateway system's power, impact, continuous operation stability, and immunity test results obtained a normal operation success rate of over 95% and normal continuous operation results. Moreover, in the voltage drop test, instantaneous immunity test, and conductive RF electromagnetic field immunity test, it obtained an average rating result of "A".

In this paper, a hybrid firewall system using the screening router, dual-homed gateway, screened host galeway and the application level gateway is proposed, The screened host gateway is comjXlsed of screening router, DMZ and bastion host. All external input traffics are filtered by screening router with network protrcol filtering, and transmitted to the bastion host performing application level filtering, The dual homed gateway is an internlediate equipment prohibiting direct access from external users, The application level gateway is an equipment enabling transmission using only the proxy server. External users can access only through the public servers in the DMZ, but internal users can aeee through any servers, The rule base which allows Telnet only lo the adrnilllslratol is applied to manage hosts in the DMZ According to the equipmental results, denial of access was in orderof Web. Mail FTP, and Telnet. Access to another servers except for server in DMZ were denied, Prolocol c1mials of UDP was more than that of TCP, because the many hosts broadcasted to networds using BOOTP and NETBIOS, Also, the illegal Telnet and FTP that transfer to inside network were very few.
