  • In this paper, an optical system was designed for 3D imaging laser radar with optical scanner. In order to make it easy to scan, the system was designed to inscribe the transmitting objective lens in the receiving lens. In transmitting optics, the beam expander was designed to have a zoom mechanism so that the transmitted beam size would be 4.8 m or 6.8 m at 1 km distance, when the laser source's numerical aperture value is between 0.13 and 0.22. The beam diameter at the target 1 km away was confirmed by design program. The receiving optics for the returning beam from the target was designed for the $16{\times}16$ array detector with $100{\mu}m$ pixel width. The spot diameter in every pixel was designed and verified to be less than $55{\mu}m$. The receiving optics' obscuration ratio by transmitting optics was 11%.

  • The stereoscopic camera based on the image formation principle on human eyes and the brain is designed and fabricated by using a CCD and two zoom lenses. As two zoom lenses are separated as 65 mm of the human ocular distance with the wide angle of view of $50^{\circ}$ and the variable convergence angle from $0^{\circ}$ to $16^{\circ}$, the camera can be operated by the similar binocular parallax as human eyes. In order to take the dynamic stereoscopic picture, a shutter blade for the selection of the left and right images in turns, an X-cube image combiner fur the composition of these two images through the blade, and a CCD with 60 frames per second are used.

  • Because the slope made up the construction of any other facilities, has many risks of a collapse, existing inspection methods to collect information for a construction site of slope bring up a long time of inspection period, cost and approach for a measuring instrument and it presents the critical point of collecting materials. For getting images to use zoom lens in any positions this study will use free zoomer constructed values of data classified by the focal length develop Image Loader system to make it load not only camera information but also camera test data values of the focal length took a photograph automatically if it measure to use a variety of cameras or other lens. Also, as it constructs three dimensions spatial image information from images of obtained objects this study presents effective basic materials of slope surveying and inspection and it shows exact surveying methods for dangerous slope not to access.

  • A new dimension measuring method for the measurement of diameter of an object has been developed using laser triangulation. The 3D data of an object was calculated from the 2 dimensional image information obtained by the laser stripe using the laser triangulation. The system that use existing theory can measure the diameter of hole not only in a normal plane but also ill an incline plane. However, in the existing theory, since the lens with fixed feral length was used, the area of measurement was fixed. The simplest way to solve this problem is to change distance between a CCD camera and object. Other way is to use a zoom lens having variable focal length. In this paper, the zoom lens with variable focal length was used. Therefore, we ran experiment with magnification that is optimized according to size of object using zoom lens with variable focal length.

  • We introduce a new design technique by treating a two-group zoom lens system with a wide angle of view. First, the concept of the global optimization is introduced in the initial design stage, and from this, the global design technique is completed by analyzing and summarizing large quantities of modern design data. That is, we define the global structure function to achieve a new conceptual design technique for global optimization. And the function is put in a simple form by referring lots of patent data, manipulated with other algebraic equations, and solved finally such that we obtain the global solution region. The global solution region corresponds to the global optimization and suggests insightful systematized directions for the design of two-group zoom lens systems. These directions are attractive compared to global optimization.

  • When the optical image stabilization is implemented by moving one of the lens groups in a zoom system, decentration should be considered in the optical design process. Although it is partially possible to calibrate optical performances in an optical system with non-symmetrical elements by using a lot of commercial software, the results of calibrating longitudinal aberrations have some calibration errors because of the lack of precise consideration of decentered optical systems. In particular, the amount of distortion in paraxial ray tracing is different from the experimental value because paraxial ray tracing in the optical system is not useful. In this paper, in order to solve this problem being from various commercial lens design software, the set of equations of paraxial ray tracing in a zoom lens system with the non-symmetrical elements like decentration or tilt are theoretically induced. Then, the methods to calibrate the equations of longitudinal aberrations by using these equations in a non-symmetrical optical system are presented. The method of calibrating longitudinal aberrations can in practice be used to correct hand shaking effects in a zoom lens system.

  • In sport programs, real-time virtual imaging system come into notice for new technology which can compose information like team logos, scores. distances directly on playing ground, so it can compensate for the defects of general character generator. In order to synchronize graphics to camera movements, generally two method is used. One is for using sensors attached to camera moving axis and the other is for analyzing camera video itself. KBS technical research institute developed real-time sensor-based virtual imaging system 'VIVA', which uses four sensors on pan, tilt, zoom, focus axis and controls virtual graphic camera in three dimensional coordinates in real-time. In this paper, we introduce our system 'VIVA' and it's technology. For accurate camera tracking we calculated view-point movement occurred by zooming based on optical principal point variation data and we considered field of view variation not only by zoom but also by focus. We developed our system based on three dimensional graphic environment. so many useful three dimensional graphic techniques such as keyframe animation can be used. VIVA was successfully used both in Busan Asian Games and 2002 presidential election. We confirmed that it can be used not only in the field but also in the studio programs in which camera is used within more close range.
