  • A person with neurological disorder is defined as a person with limitation of ambulation or basic life activity due to the cerebral palsy or traumatic brain damage, stroke. Recently, the DMFT of the children with neurological disorders is similar or lower than the DMFT of the children with no disability. But, this article is about the severe-early childhood caries in children with grade 1 neurological disorder. It is supposed that the primary motor impairment and secondary physical weakness, frequent hospitalization, sugar- rich food and drugs, lack of oral care, delayed dental visit made high caries susceptibility. In case of treatment of the children with severe neurological disorders, dentists should make a thorough caries preventive plan based on individualized caries risk assessment. Also parents and medical doctors should recognize the importance of oral care and do the early dental visit and home care.

  • The effects of sucrose concentration on the secretion of hGM-CSF, total protein and protease into the medium were investigated in transgenic tobacco cells. The dry cell weight (11.22 g/L), hGM-CSF (181.53 $\mu\textrm{g}$/L) and total protein (66.8 mg/L) were detected as highest at 30 g/L sucrose and protease activity (2660 U/L) was highest at 120 g/L sucrose after 5-day culture. However after 10-day culture, the maximum dry cell weight (28.36 g/L) was found at 60 g/L sucrose while the maximum hGM-CSF (95 $\mu\textrm{g}$/L) was appeared at 150 g/L sucrose. The total protein and protease activity was secreted as 52.28mg/L and 3430 U/L, respectively in the same culture.

  • As increasing number of large-size earthquake around Korean peninsula, many interests have been focused to the earthquake strengthening of existing structures. Fiber reinforced plastic composite material is one of strengthening material widely used to increase seismic performance of structures. It should have high stiffness as well as large ductility to provide best strengthening result. Thus selection of stiffener and fiber in composite is of important. In this study, the optimal combination of fiber and stiffener is selected with variety of tensile tests. In order to investigate performance of chosen composite material, several finite element analyses are performed with proposed FRP composite material for existing RC columns. It is discussed that the seismic performance of strengthened columns through the load-displacement relationship. It is shown that the proposed composite material can increase the strength as well as ductility of exiting RC columns.

  • Since COVID-19's 1st pandemic came in February 2020, the demand for telemedicine grew greatly that in most countries the deregulation for telemedicine policy have been implemented in more countries. Also in Korea, with the name of 'Non-face-to-face Treatment' telemedicine began to be approved. Telemedicine having strength in chronic disease management has been effective in more and more specialties along with the recent development of ICT that it is expected to contribute to the improvement of the quality of healthcare service and creation of new treatment model. On the contrary it may also exacerbate the distortion in the hospital healthcare service industry in Korea, which is the excessive tipping toward large hospitals. So the dual promotion policy approach in which the settlement of family doctors system extensively utilizing telemedicine for chronic disease management and the support for tertiary hospitals and hospitals focusing on treating foreign patients to provide quality service using telemedicine technology are pursued simultaneously are recommended.

  • Antibiotic resistance of bacteria in the biofilm mode of growth contributes to the chronicity of infection and disease. The penetration of antibiotic, through biofilm developed in an itt vitro model system was investigated. Antibiotic resistant bacteria (E. coli) were obtained from Culture Collection of Antibiotic Resistant Microbes. Ca-alginate bead used as simulated biofilm and a cell entrapment test using compressed air were experiment for the improvement cell viability. Antibiotic susceptibilities though biofilms was measured by assaying the concentration of antibiotic that diffused through the biofilm to minimal inhibition concentration (MIC). Survival of immobilized cells were reduced as compared to free cells. In case of antibiotic susceptible E. coli reduced continuously, but antibiotic resistant E. coli kept up survival rate constantly. Survival was showed after exposed to the antibiotics that the more treated antibiotic resistant E. coli and low concentration of antibiotics) the more survived.

  • Background : As many previous studies proved, the quality of medical record is thought to reflect the quality of care. In this study, we analyzed the relationship between the quality of record and some factors influencing the quality of record, especially the commitment of the attending physician. Method : We developed checklist for evaluation of medical record with 36 criteria. 300 inpatient records of 10 attending physicians' patients were evaluated and the quality' of records were scored. The attending physician's commitment to medical records were scored by 34 residents. The relationship of the quality of records with physician's commitment to records, and some other factors were analyzed. Results : More than 75% of the immediate postoperative notes on the progress note were missed. More than 69% of the contents of explanation about the procedures on the consent form or on the other forms were also missed. The physician whose quality score of records was the highest(78.9) got the highest commitment score. The score of attending physician's commitment to the record, and his seniority were positively related with the quality score of his medical records when number of patients and department were adjusted. Conclusion : The quality of the 5 forms of the record reviewed were evaluated as moderate or excellent except 2 or 3 items. The quality of record was positively related with the attending physician's commitment to the record, and the seniority of the physician.
