As the topics of general education in universities become more diverse, it is not an easy task to identify the topics of general education courses. This study aims to identify and visualize the topics of A university's general education courses using informetric analysis methods. 214 syllabi were collected and titles, course introduction, goals, and weekly plans were analyzed. 278 topic words were extracted from the data set and grouped into 8 clusters. In the network analysis, topic clusters were divided into two areas, personal and social. Personal area has 14 sub-topic clusters and social area has 11 sub-topic clusters. In personal area, 'language', 'science', and 'personality' were major topic clusters. In social area, 'multi-culture' cluster was the core cluster with connected to four other clusters. The topic network generated in this study can be used for the university and the university library to enhance general education or to develop collections for general education.

문서에서 저자의 의도와 주제, 그 안에 포함된 감성을 분석하는 것은 자연어 연구의 핵심적인 주제이다. 이와 유사하게 특정 글에 포함된 정치적 문화적 편향을 분석하는 것 역시 매우 의미 있는 연구주제이다. 우리는 최근 발생한 한 사건에 대하여 여러 신문사와 해당 신문사에서 생산한 기사를 중심으로 해당 글의 정치적 편향을 정량화 하는 방법을 제시한다. 그 방법은 선택된 주제어들의 문장 공간에서의 거리를 중심으로 그래프를 생성하고, 생성된 그래프의 기계학습을 통하여 편향과 특징을 분석하였다. 그리고 그 그래프들의 시간적 변화를 추적하여 특정 신문사에서 특정 사건에 대한 입장이 시간적으로 어떻게 변화하였는지를 동적으로 보여주는 그래프 애니메이션 시스템을 개발하였다. 실험을 위하여 최근 이슈에 대하여 12개의 신문사에서 약 2000여 개의 기사를 수집하였다. 그 결과, 약 82%의 정확도로 일반적으로 알려진 정치적 편향을 예측할 수 있었다. 또한, 학습 데이터에 쓰이지 않은 신문기사를 활용하여도 같은 정도의 정확도를 보임을 알 수 있었다. 우리는 이를 통하여 신문기사에서의 정치적 편향은 작성자나 신문사의 특성이 아니라 주제어들의 문장 공간에서의 거리 관계로 특성화할 수 있음을 보였다. 할 수 있다.

Subject specialized services are introduced in library environment in order to meet users' needs, which become more specialized, characterized, and personalized. This concept dates back to the 1960 in Korean scholarly research, and previous studies revealed that many libraries in Korea have provided this kind of subject specialized services to library users. This study aimed to consider appropriate directions of subject specialization in Korea. This study examined seven library cases the structure of which is organized by subject specialization. It tried to give a good grasp of background of building up the subject specialization system, current state of the service and its effects, problems and challenges of operating the system, recruitment and training issues of subject specialist librarians, their duties and tasks, and so on. Also Announcements of academic subject specialist positions in Korea are compared to in other countries such as United States, UK, and Canada in order to analyze the demand for subject specialist librarians.

The purpose of this study was to propose the improvements for high quality of National Library of Korea (NLK) Subject Headings List which was developed as a subject access tool in 2002. For this study, literature review, case study for subject headings lists of national libraries, and data analysis of headings and relationships were performed. Several problems were found as follows: inconsistency of subject headings descriptions, unclear and unnecessary relationships among headings, inconsistency of hierarchical relationships, lack of currency, incorrectness of classification numbers, duplication of newly requested terms, and assignment of non-preferred and unregistered terms in bibliographic records. Focusing on these problems, modifications of subject headings and bibliographic records, installation and operation of an review committee on subject headings, and supplementation of a manual were suggested to improve NLK Subject Headings List.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the challenges of pre-service teachers for good science teaching with focus on the process of imparting meaning of teaching subject. We have detailed research questions such as, 'What the pre-service teachers thought about teaching subject? How they grasped the meaning of the teaching subject? and What kinds of methods they have used to expose the meaning in their classes?'. We had four pre-service teachers who took the class 'Teaching methods in physics teaching' as voluntary participants in the first semester of 2017. The results show that there are common features in the process of imparting meaning of the teaching subject. The participants started to think about fundamental/existential answer to the question, 'Why should we teach science to students?'. In addition, they grasped the meaning of the teaching subject by using the specific key words. And they tried to link the teaching components with the teaching subject as the center. This challenging process led pre-service teachers to form teachers' identity and to enhance teacher professionalism.

The purpose of this study is to discuss the developmental direction of public library specialization by investigating the library specialization and the perception and opinions on the theme specialized librarians. A total of 69 directors have responded to the survey, and the main result was that while there are difficulties in terms of manpower and budget in providing the specialization services, they have been fully aware of the need and value of the libraries' specialized services and were willing to maintain and develop the services in the future. In addition, more than half of the respondents said that the provision of specialized services and the placement of theme specialized librarians at the public libraries are essential. The qualification for the theme specialized librarians was said to be higher than a master's degree and 4 to 7 years or longer of relevant work experience and must be managed as a national qualification system. Based on these results, suggestions were made that the discussions of the specialization service comprised of the training system for specialized librarians, the establishment and operation of the theme specialized librarian qualification system, and the cooperation with the theme related organizations for the qualitative improvement of the specialization service, among others.

한국출판문화산업진흥원(원장 이재호)은 최근 프레스센터 내셔널 프레스클럽에서 '창조경제시대, 문화융성을 견인하는 출판정책'이라는 주제로 포럼을 개최했다. 이날 포럼은 김기태 세명대학교 교수의 사회로 진행됐으며, 이민화 카이스트 초빙교수가 '창조경제와 출판'에 대해, 김기덕 건국대 교수가 '문화융성과 출판'에 대해 주제발표를 진행했다. 본지에서는 김기덕 교수가 주제 발표한 내용을 요약 게재한다.

Much amount of data which demand fuzzy information system requires various analysis through the fuzzy set visualization. Therefore, this study proposes how to visualize fuzzy data set using variation of Venn diagram. For the fuzzy data which are related to many topics and have ranking of relation, this way gives results that users want by visualizing intersection, union and complementary set. That is, it visualizes the set of fuzzy data which have many topics at once, or the set of all fuzzy data which has topics, or the set of fuzzy data not related to a topic. Users control these sets by overlapping or piling them; visualized with Venn diagram, which is user-oriented. One distinct advantage of this visualization is the fact that it delivers web documents which users of search engine and web developers want much quickly. Furthermore, its possibility can be expanded to several purposes by using for information retrieval.

This study proposes an expanded model of personalized search service based on community activities on a Korean Web portal. The model is composed of defining subject categories of users, providing personalized search results, and recommending additional subject categories and queries. Several experiments were performed to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed model. It was found that users' activities on community services provide valuable data for identifying their Interests, and the personalized search service increases users' satisfaction.
