This article investigates the roles the librarians can take under the rapidly changing information environment of 21st century, in order to maintain and develop the values as professionals continuously. It suggests six role models: 1) Information educator planning and implementing the user instructions in the libraries; 2) Information counselor providing humane services through counseling on reading and cooperations in research of the library users; 3) Information searcher searching and providing thc information rapidly and accurately to the users; 4) Information mediator evaluating the usefulness of the acquired information and even providing the consulting on information management; 5) Subject speaalist specialized in specific information services; 6) Cultural program planner planning and implementing the various cultural programs.

본 연구에서는 경제, 비즈니스 분야의 정보원을 좀 더 효율적으로 검색하기 위해서 정보/주제 전문가들이 갖고 있는 정보원 선택과 이용에 대한 지식을 획득, 표현하여 정보검색사 또는 최종 이용자들이 공유할 수 있는 웹 기반 전문가 시스템을 구현하였다.

농촌은 심각한 소멸의 위기에 닥쳐 있으며, 이 위기상황에 대해 우리는 특별한 해결책이 없다. 여러 전문가들이 축산업이 농촌을 소멸의 위기에서 구해낼 수 있는 가장 현실적 대안이라 말하고 있다. 더불어민주당 이원택 의원실과 축산신문, 나눔축산운동본부, 축산관련단체협의회가 지난 12월 20일 국회의원회관 제7간담회실에서 '농촌소멸 대응과 축산업 발전전략'을 주제로 전문가 토론회를 열었다. 이날 발표된 주요 내용을 소개한다.

It is the purpose of this study to specify contents of Library and Information Science to train information professional to meet environment change of technology and system. Among them. recognizing necessity of present Artificial Intelligence and Export System (AI and ES) required by changing environment of latest Information technology, it is also the purpose of this work to figure out fundamental data and the way of solution how to introduce what contents out of AI and ES to Library and Information Science. The briefed results are as follows. 1. In contents of AI and ES, most Important training portion for Library and Information Science are : data base treating, thesaurus, natural language processing. and knowledge representation. 3. Library and information science professors recognize It necessary for bigger number of Library and Information Science students to be educated artificial intelligence and expert system. 4. During forthcoming age it shows more important reorganization that artificial intelligence and expert system improves information professional in reference service, cataloging, classification, information retrieval, and documentation delivery 5. According to library and information science professors more important reorganization on the subject of AI and ES, the curricular on AI and ES is, forthcoming, to be Introduced to curricular on library and information science in the nation, In order of importance, (see 1. above).

'원전 신뢰, 어떻게 회복할 것인가'를 주제로 한 해외 원자력 전문가 좌담회가 4월 28일 인터컨티넨탈 서울 코엑스에서 열렸다. 한국원자력문화재단이 주최한 이번 좌담회는 당일 열린 '30주년 한국원자력연차대회'에 참석한 해외 원자력 전문가를 초청하여 마련된 것으로, 민계홍 한국원자력산업회의 상근 부회장을 좌장으로 하여 김호성 한국원자력문화재단 이사장, Malcolm Grimston 영국 Imperial College 환경정책센터 수석 연구위원, Daniel S. Lipman 미국 원자력협회(NEI) 부회장, Mimi Limbach 태평양원자력협의회(PNC) 회장 등 원자력 수용성 관련 전문가들이 참석, 2시간에 걸쳐 의견을 나누었다. 좌담회 전문을 게재한다.

제 15회 세계 에이즈 회의(15th International AIDS Conference)가 2004년 7월 11일부터 16일 사이에 태국 방콕에서 열렸다. 'Access for all'이라는 주제로 개최된 이번 대회 기간 동안 약 2만 명 이상의 전 세계 에이즈 관련 전문가들이 태국에 모여서 여러 주제에 대한 열띤 토론을 벌였다. 그중 의학적 이슈는 어떤 것들이 다루어졌는지 살펴보자.
