The purpose of this study was conducted to provide scientific data supporting the development of health programs for enhancing adolescents' health, by understanding factors influencing their self-rated health. It conducted a composite sample χ2 test of 54,848 adolescents, to understand differences in the self-rated health depending on their sociodemographic characteristics, stress and depression levels, and also implemented a logistic regression analysis, to verify the factors influencing their sense of self-rated health. As a result of the study, Male students were healthier than female students; students with greater scholarly attainments and higher economic levels were more healthier; and students who had less stress and experienced no depression showed higher sense of self-rated health. Therefore, in order to improve the self-rated health of adolescents, it is necessary to continuously manage through the establishment of a customized health promotion program.
In order to investigate the factors influencing QOL and life satisfaction of the physically disabled, the author interviewed, by using structuralized questionnaire, 440 individuals among the physically disabled who were participated in Health Examination from April to July, 1997. The questionnaire consisted of the general characteristics(sex, age, marital status, family number, etc), the Reintegration to Normal Living Index(RNLI) to assess QOL, and the single item of five-likert scale to evaluate life satifaction. The means of RNLI were $16.2{\pm}4.8$ in total score, $12.2{\pm}3.4$ in daily functioning and $4.0{\pm}2.1$ in perception of self. The respondents were less reintegrated toward social activities and relationships than impairments or disabilities. While the satisfied group was 47.3%, the dissatisfied group was 52.7%. As the results of multiple regression and logistic regression analysis, the significant predictors of QOL were age, education, job, grade of disability and subjective health status. The life satisfaction were related to economic status, job and subjective health status. To improve QOL and life satisfaction of the physically disabled, it is important that we improve their basic socioeconomic status by getting a job through rehabilitation education and induce them to have positive self-assessment by extending the opportunity of social participation.
The aim of this study was to investigate the association between perceived periodontal status and sexual function among adult men. Three hundred thirty adult male participated in this study living at Changwon and Jinju. All the participants surveyed the socio-demographic characteristics, perceived periodontal status, stress, and international index of erectile function (IIEF) using self-administrated questionnaire. The univariate and multivariate analyze were adapted to access the crude and adjusted associations using PASW Statistics 18.0. In univariate analysis, there were significant differences between perceived periodontal status and IIEF and most of socio-demographic characteristics (p<0.05), but no significant differences between stress and all of socio-demographic characteristics (p>0.05). The sexual function was negatively correlated with perceived periodontal status (r=-0.228, p<0.001) and stress (r=-0.257, p<0.001), respectively. In multivariate analysis, perceived periodontal status was significantly associated with sexual function (b=-0.889, p=0.030) after adjusting for socio-demographic characteristics and stress. Therefore, it is found that perceived periodontal status negatively influenced on sexual function in adult men.

This research attempts to analyze the effects of demographic factors, socioeconomic factors, health behaviors and social/familial supports on health inequalities among Korean elderly. For this end, this study adopts the multiple linear regression analysis to process data on population aged over 65 contained in 'The Third Korea Welfare Panel Study' published in 2008. The following are the results. First, the less educated they are, the smaller income they earn, the less they drink, the less satisfied with relationships with their family members, the more they turn out to feel depressed. Second, the less educated they are, the smaller income they earn, the less they drink, the less they are satisfied with relationship with family members, the more they benefit from social welfare services, the worse they turn out to rate their health. Based on these findings, three following suggestions could be forwarded. First, vulnerable aged groups including female elderly, low-income elderly, less-educated elderly need customized social supports. Second, new social policy for households is required to enhance elderly people's satisfaction with their family relationships with the rapid trend of a growing number of nuclear families and aging. Third, social welfare service programs need to be reevaluated to enhance their function for the aged.
This study was Dental health determinants of elderly people. For this purpose, a questionnaire was done for 396 elderly people of 60 or more years old who have visited Seogwipo city public health center(branch) in Jejudo from May 27th to June 5th 2013 after they heard the intention of that investigation. Result of the most answers were 'normal' for the question asking the subjective status of teeth health of whom having more than 20 natural teeth as 73.3%; the most answers of whom with less than 19 natural teeth were 'bad' as 41.4%, which showed difference(p<0.05). The factors influencing the subjective teeth health were 4.3times higher in cases of women than men. The higher educational(high school or more)had they, the more monthly average income(2 million won or more) did they have, the higher was their subjective teeth health status(p<0.01). It is more important than anything that they reserve more than 20 natural teeth until they get old to keep and improve their oral and body health. In addition to that, the oral health project or oral health program to perform country-wide programs for free, consistent and systematic oral health examination and education should be planned.

The purpose of this study is to examine how area characteristics influence the health of a population in a particular area by investigating how area deprivation and social capital influence self-rated health. For this study, a multi-level logistic regression was employed to analyze the data collected by Community Health Survey conducted on a target population of 229,186 living at 253 administrative areas of Korea in 2011. First, an analysis was conducted for subjects who have rated their self-health assessment as 'fair', 'poor', and 'very poor' in a 5 -item response survey. Then, a second analysis was conducted for the same subjects by excluding those with a rating of 'fair'. As a result, we found that area deprivation significantly influenced the population's health, according to our second analysis, while it was not significant according to our first analysis. Moreover, social capital was not significant in both analyses. Area deprivation-although the value of it was not so high-seems to explain the differences of individual self-rated health assessment as a contextual effect. In addition, influence of area characteristics is not limited to certain local areas, but to all local areas of Korea. Therefore, it is suggested that efforts to improve area characteristics are necessary to upgrade the individual's health level. A standardized classification system-distinguishing between good and poor self-rated health-is necessary through further comparative studies on self-rated health assessment.
This study was conducted with the purpose of examining the effect of material deprivation on the subjective mental health of youth and the moderating effect of social support in these relationships. For this purpose, frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and moderating effect model were analyzed using the response data of 2,041 youth who participated in the '2021 Youth Social and Economic Survey'. As a result of the analysis, first, it was found that the material deprivation of youth negatively and significantly affects subjective mental health. Second, it was found that social support moderated the effect of material deprivation on the subjective mental health of youth. The results of this study show that in order to improve the subjective mental health level of youth, it is necessary to not only strengthen public policies and systems to prevent the situation of material deprivation of youth in advance, but also to strengthen the social support system by raising the level of social support.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of knowledge and risk perception of coronavirus disease-2019 on preventive health behavior among nursing students. The survey participants were 291 students in A city. Data were collected using self-report questionnaires between August 1 and 20, 2020. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression in SPSS ver. 18.0. Knowledge of COVID-19 was significantly dependent on age and school records. Risk perceptions were significantly dependent on educational grades. Age, health status, knowledge, and risk perception had significant effects on preventive health behavior, which was found to be positively correlated with knowledge and risk perception. Stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that age significantly predicted preventive health behavior (β=.188, p<.01), health status (β=-.245, p<.001), knowledge (β=.254, p<.001), and risk perception (β=.191, p<.001) that it accounted for 18.9% (F=17.904, p<.001) of the variance. An educational program is required to enhance the preventive health behavior of nursing students in a background of COVID-2019 that considers student age, health level, knowledge, and perception of risk.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the activity constraints due to disability on subjective health status and daily life satisfaction among disabled, and mediating effects of subjective health status on the relationship between activity constraints due to disability and daily life satisfaction. For this purpose, the response data of 3,809 people who participated in the 5th year of the 2nd Wave of the Panel Survey of Employment for the Disabled (PSED) were used and analyzed. As a result, all sub-factors except for the degree of difficulties in hearing even when using hearing aids among activity constraints due to disability has a statistically significant negative effect on subjective health status, and all sub-factors has a significant negative effect on daily life satisfaction. And, subjective health status has a significant partial mediating effect on the relationship between all sub-factors except for the degree of difficulties in hearing even when using hearing aids among activity constraints due to disability and daily life satisfaction. Therefore, the level of activity constraint for the disabled should be reduced by providing systematic and differentiated customized rehabilitation programs that take into account the disability characteristics of the disabled, thereby improving the health level and social independence ability of the disabled. Furthermore, in order to improve the daily life satisfaction of the disabled, it is necessary to provide policy support such as the establishment of a community-based integrated support system for the disabled by linked rehabilitation program and health promotion program.
