Purpose: The Hybrid care environment, combining interventional procedures and surgeries in one space, is crucial for managing complex diseases, responding to emergencies, and reducing recovery times and pain. This study provides foundational data for creating architectural guidelines for a Hybrid Operating Unit in a general hospital's surgical department, focusing on cardiovascular care. Methods: The study analyzed the spatial and configuration types of the Vascular Angiography Unit and the Cardiac Operating Unit, which are the basic components of the Hybrid Operating Unit, through a literature review. Based on the initial research findings, interviews with experts were conducted. Results: In the Hybrid Operating Process, the study proposed spatial configuration alternatives that consider the positioning of medical staff and the types and arrangement changes of equipment, including Angiography, Heart-lung machines, and other surgical tools and instruments. Implications: The integration of the two units leads to increased diversity and demand for medical staff, equipment, and supplies during surgical and interventional procedures. Therefore, strategic spatial configurations and equipment placement are necessary to effectively respond to these needs.

The Korean hospitals have been changed a lot from 1970's to 1990's, not only in their space allocation but also in their functions. These changes were affected by the medical development, social atmosphere, increasing population, needs of medical demands, and so on. In this study, we compared net area allocation involve in these affect of hospitals which were built in 1970's, 80's, and 90's, and through this comparison, we analyzed developing tendencies of hospitals. In doing so, we tried to provide basic research data for planning of new hospital buildings.

Diseases of cranial nerves are one of the most difficult illnesses to be treated because of the fact that diseases are hardly detected in early stage. As the nation is becoming an aging society, there is an increasing number of the patient who has diseases of cranial nerves. So a lot of healthcare facilities is in the middle of having a preparation for medical center providing adequate medical service to the patient suffering from diseases of cranial nerves. However, it is extremely difficult to define what the specialized medical center is. It is necessary to give an architectural suggestion of the specialized medical center in response to the proposal of healthcare system for successful operation. Therefore this study aims to suggest the composition and the area of the medical center on neuroscience.

Spatial configuration of the building quality relationships and reasonable distribution of space by utilizing the Net and Gross area. The construction of the health care facilities in terms of medical institutional source cost much and affect on management of another sources like, staffs for the health care delivery systems and the medical service For it is hard to amend and change the physical component of the facilities, the reasonability and the efficiency of the facilities should be the major considering point. Consequently, the purpose of this study is to represent the basic data for determining the size of general hospital by analyzing the use pattern of existing facilities and investigating annual use pattern and user's distance from the facilities.

So it is important to find out how people understands the structure of interior spaces. Therefore, this study aims to analyze how interior space affects the legibility of space making use of puzzle map method. As hospitals change continuously and rapidly, the way of growth and change becomes another important factor in the design of a hospital. The hospitals are adapted for the continuous growth and change during their life span. But the hospitals built in 1970's and 80's have been expanded and reconstructed without any plan of growth and change. So, there is required to the architectural planning on the remodeling and modernization strategy of general hospitals. The purpose of this study is to provide the fundamental data for the reasonable design planning and the basic principles of the construction plan in the hospital remodeling. Thus, this study is to investigate and analyze the characteristics of hospital remodeling, the remodeling planning, and the scheduling process in terms of construction. As a result, this study would apply to design guideline for the remodeling of general hospitals.

This thesis aims to establish a criterion to determine the scale of emergency beds and emergency wards equipped in general hospitals in the suburbs of Seoul. A new, large hospital (over 1000 beds) located in the southeast area of Seoul was selected and investigated for the case of this study, and throuh the P.O.E. a few mistakes in the method of determining the scale of the emergency department there came to light. Joining together, the effectiveness of the scale determination method devised by us (Lee's formula) was verified, and finally the optimum scale of the emergency department for this general hospital was proposed.

The purpose of this study is to suggest the design by using digital media the general hospital. The important result and advantage of the study are as follows; At first, applicability and maintenance of form and function design are enhanced and the digital media could be used for development of better and economical design. Secondly, the 3D CAD system useful for communication media and instructional tool for hospital planners and designers. Thirdly, fast and economical evaluation are obtained through the study of experimental simulation. Finally as a new tool in architectural field, the system helps to enhance the relationship between digital media and human. New concept and tools of hospital design are being developed in terms of its function, environment, and psychology. The computational design system should be improved for user friendly in the future.
