A study of the Development of Ship Integrated Combat Capability Operational Test and Evaluation using Missile Live-Fire and Reaction Time Analysis (유도탄 실사격 및 반응시간 분석보고서를 활용한 함정 통합전투성능 운용시험평가 발전방안 제시)

  • This study aims to introduce missile live-fire during the ship operational test and evaluation(T&E) as a means of verifying the integrated combat capability(ICC) of various systems installed on naval ships. The research method identified domestic and foreign T&E systems and cases, and reports related to ICC, which were written during the ship's design stage. As a result of research, Republic of Korea is not conducting the missile live-fire at the ship T&E stage due to the lack of relevant systems, while the U.S. is conducting it based on the mission-based T&E and the end-to-end test system. As a way to improve within the current domestic ship acquisition systems, the reaction time analysis, a quantitative analysis result of ICC calculated at the ship basic design stage, was proposed to be verified by missile live-fire during ship operational T&E.

  • 소형우주발사체 KSLV-I의 상단부 전자장비 탑재 구조체의 외부면에는 텔레메트리, 원격추적, GPS, 비행종단 시스템의 안테나가 두 개 또는 세 개씩 장착된다. 발사체의 표면에 안테나를 부착할 수 있는 위치는 제한되어 있기 때문에 각 안테나 들은 서로 인접되어 부착된다. 또한 상단부 전자장비들과 지상장비의 성능을 검증하기 위해 수행되는 경비행기를 이용한 비행시험은 각 안테나들이 더욱 근접하여 장착된 상태로 수행된다. 따라서 각 하부시스템의 안테나 사이에 발생하는 간섭현상을 분석하기 위한 연구가 요구된다. 이 논문에서는 시간영역 유한차분법을 이용하여 서로 다른 하부시스템의 안테나 간에 발생하는 간섭영향을 해석하였다. 수행된 해석 과정은 우주발사체의 안테나 방사패턴을 해석하는데 이용될 수 있으며, 향후 우주발사체의 시스템 설계 과정에서 안테나의 배치 방법과 각 하부시스템의 성능 요구조건을 결정하는데 효과적으로 사용될 수 있다.

Range Safety System Operation in KSR-III Flight Test (KSR-III 비행안전 시스템 운영)

  • The first Korean liquid propellant rocket KSR-III successfully finished its flight test on Nov. 28, 2002. Herein, we summarize the results of range safety system operation which is employed for the first time in flight tests of rockets developed by Korea Aerospace Research Institute(KARI). During the flight, safety-critical flight data including instantaneous impact points are monitored in realtime by range safety officers utilizing Range Safety Display Systems. The recorded screen of the display system is presented for the explanation of safety operation. In addition, comparisons are made between onboard navigation system based and radar based results in calculating instantaneous impact points, and also errors from the finally recorded impact point are described.

  • In this paper, a new type of integrated AFCI is designed and implemented by combining individual circuit breaker characteristics, which can effectively detect arc fault signals in real-time. The proposed integrated AFCI satisfies the UL1699, the USA certification standard, and the Korean circuit breaker standards such as KS C4613 and KS C8321. Data signals are transferred to the management server via ZigBee network to analyze dangerous factors and to prevent unwanted trip. It is also shown by experiments that arc fault signals are detected and analyzed by using the integrated AFCI with ZigBee networks.

Operatonal characteristics of the PLS linac vacuum system (PLS 선형가속기 진공계의 운전특성)

  • The vacuum systems of PLS linac provides average pressure of $2.6\times 10^{-6}$Pa under high power microwave of 54 MW peak with 4.1 $\mu \textrm s$ pulse width and 10 Hz repetition rates. The base pressure of system is$2.4\times 10^{-6}$Pa with 45$^{\circ}C$ cooling water. The outgassing rate of the system is decreased from $3.0\times 10^{-11}Torr-l/sec-\textrm{cm}^2$ at the initial stage after installation to $1\times 10^{-12}Torr-l/sec-\textrm{cm}^2$ at present. Total accumulated microwave energy dose is about 140 GJ per module. All ion pumps are working under saturated regime and effective pumping speeds of 60 I/s, 230 I/s ion pumps are 45 I/s, 65 I/s, 140 I/s under the operating range. Main problems occurred in recent year are troubles of ion pump controller and vacuum gauge controller, vacuum leak of energy doubler window and electron gun ceramic, and water leak in the dummy load of acceleraing columns. Total of 41 troubles with 140. 8 hours down time give good system availability of 98%. Down time can be reduced by high power waveguide valves and water dummy loads under development, and then availability is expected to be increased up to 99.5%.

  • Simulation is an important technique to test and verify routing protocol correctness. However, simulation does not guarantee that the protocol works expectedly on a real world environment because it needs to rely on assumptions and simplified properties such as radio characteristics and effects of geographical constraints that may not reflect the real world networking environments. Therefore, a real world experiments are necessary to gain a practical insight into the actual performance of ad hoc networks. In this paper, we build a test-bed to evaluate multi-hop ad hoc networks for high speed video streaming inside a building using AODV-UU routing protocol. Our observation indicates that the considered ad hoc network can provide a sufficient performance for a low rate streaming data in terms of throughput, PDR (Packet delivery ratio) and the average delay.

  • In this paper, we propose a synchronous reservation protocol that is efficient for supporting variable sized messages in a wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) based local network using a passive star topology. A. control channel is used to coordinate transmission on data channels. Time is slotted with fixed-sized slots. The network can accommodate a variable number of nodes, and can operate independently of the change of the number of nodes. So, any 'new' node can join the network anytime without network re-initialization. Moreover, with the protocol, we can avoid data channel and destination conflicts. We analyze the performance by using EPA method according to the variation of the end to end propagation delay with respect to one slot time, and validate the results by simulation.
