  • Recently, small scale hydropower needs to be developed due to its clean, renewable and abundant energy resources. However, suitable draft of hydro-turbine body in combination with differences in wheel blade shapes is not determined yet in the range of small hydropower and it is necessary to study for the effective draft in combination with type. Therefore, watermill shaped of 250mm diameter. hydro-turbine aiming 20 watt class generator is adopted in this study because of its simple structure and high possibility of applying to small hydropower. The result shows that effective draft for the turbine body is variable concerning the size of turbine and flow rate of water. Thus, the difference of water depth between fore and aft turbine body contributes to the increase of torque, angular momentum and power output.

Numerical Simulation of Surge - Wave Combined Inundation at Mokpo North Harbor (목포 북항에서 풍파에 의한 해수범람의 수치 모의)

  • Tidal amplification by construction of sea-dike and sea-walls had been detected not only near Mokpo North Harbor but also at Chungkye Bay which is connected with Mokpo North Harbor by a narrow channel. This brings about increase of tidal flat area and in particular increase of runup height and inundation area during storms. In this study, a simulation process is composed of wind wave generation model for large area and wave inundation model for small coastal zone. The nonlinear version of mild-slope equation is modified for simulating wind-driven surge and wave inundation at a small area. The models are applied to Chungkye Bay, and possible inundation features at Mokpo North Harbor are investigated.

Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler Bottom Tracking Survey of Flow Structures around Geumo Archipelago in the Southern Waters of Korea (ADCP bottom tracking에 의한 금오열도 주변의 해수유동)

  • In order to investigate the flow structures around Geumo archipelago on Southern Waters of Korea, water movements were measured for 25 hours during spring tide in May and neap tide in September 2002 using ADCP (Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler) attached to a running boat. Dominant directions of ebb and flood current at spring tide are SE-NW, representing the average flow rate of approximately 40cm/s in the surface layer. However because of the topographical reason, the direction and speed of the flow in the narrow waterway sea area around the northwest of Gae Island were different. There was no notable baroclinic component of tidal flow at spring tide. This indicates that the sea area has been actively engaged in vertical mixing due to island wake or eddy due to narrow waterways, shallow water depth and rapid flow rate around archipelago. At neap tide, dominant directions of tidal flows are SSE-NNW and the average flow rate in the surface layer is about 85 percent of the spring tide. The duration and intensity of the flow direction are shorter and less dominant than the spring tide. It is expected that asymmetrical tidal mixing will occur due to vertical velocity shear and horizontal eddies. From daily mean tidal flows obtained from the ADCP observation, it was found that the northwest of Gae Island have flows in NW~NE, the west of Geumo Island have the average currents of up to 21 cm/s WSW~SSW and counterclockwise circulation or eddy currents are formed in the west of Sori Island.

  • In this paper, I study to determine the effect on patent applicants across the network characteristics of innovation in the ICT sector in Korea. For that, I use the Social Network Analysis(SNA) and the Negative Binomial Regression(NBR). The results about the innovation network in Korea ICT is very dense type. And the degree centrality and the closeness centrality had such a positive effect on innovation performance. Also, the efficiency had not reached a significant effect and the constraint was found to have a negative effect on innovation performance. In the future, based on these results, we need to plan a proper policy of the Korea Technology Innovation Policy.

  • Safety education for crew members is an essential education because it is directly related to life. When ship emergency response training is provided as a hands-on training rather than a sit-down training, the satisfaction of trainees and the educational effect are higher. However, for ship emergency response training to be conducted through practical training, educational conditions such as time and place are insufficient in reality. In recent years, the use of VR technology in education has been in the spotlight. Practicing through virtual reality is an educational method that other educational institutions are also aiming for because it can increase the educational effect regardless of time and place. On the other hand, in order to provide VR-based education, it is essential to develop related technologies and develop contents. In this study, VR-based content development was performed. The development scenario is about navigation and accident response plan, and it was developed for navigation in narrow waterways and limited visibility.

Age and Growth of Juvenile Limanda yokohamae in the Shallow Water off Gaduk-do as Indicated from Microstructure in Otoliths (이석의 미세구조를 이용한 가덕도 천해역 문치가자미(Limanda yokohamae) 유어의 연령과 성장)

  • Age, hatching date and growth in length of juvenile Limanda yokohamae were determined by analysis of microstructure in otoliths. Monthly samples were collected by a beach seine in the shallow water off Gaduk-do from January to December, 1998. The juveniles were collected between February and April. Mean total length was $22.6{\pm}1.77\;mm$ ($\pm$SD) in February, $23.6{\pm}3.86\;mm$ in March, and $38.2{\pm}8.38\;mm$ in April. The core of otoliths ranged from 18 to $21\;{\mu}m$ in diameter and the growth increments were deposited concentrically from the hatching mark. The secondary growth layer began to appear at the 48 to 56-th increment. It indicates that L. yokohamae larvae may be completed the metamorphosis at this time of ca. 52 d after hatching, and moved into the shallow water for demersal stage. The hatching date calculated from the number of daily increments was between late November and early January, showing a peak in December. The total length (L, mm) was related to otolith radius (R, ${\mu}m$); L=0.055 R+5.81 ($r^2=0.88$). The growth in total length was represented by the Gompertz growth curve; $L_t=3.39e^{4.51(1-e^{-0.0067t})}$ ($r^2=0.81$). Daily growth rate was 0.35 mm/d at the age of 70 d and increased up to 0.55 mm/d at the age of 120 d.

An Experimental Study on Flow Characteristic Around Inclined Crest Groyne (경사수제 주변 흐름특성 분석에 관한 실험연구)

  • In case of inclined crest groyne, flow constriction with water is different. Therefore, it is proper to apply to narrow channel or there is a risk of overflow with water level rising caused by installation of groynes. This study were conducted experiments on inclined crest groyne. Main factors of inclined crest groyne are angles of crests slope and changes of water level. Velocity profile around groyne was measured by LSPIV (Large Scale Particle Image Velocimetry). Flow fields around groyne were analyzed focused on main channel and recirculation area. From the results, Thalweg change has little an effect on rate length and height of recirculation rises on increasing rate length. Length of recirculation area was about 12$\sim$16 times of rate length of groyne. Maximum velocity in main channel area was measured about 1.45$\sim$2.1 times of approach velocity and has little an effect on crest angle of groyne. Back water velocity recirculation area was decreased on approach velocity. This result presents to make stable flow to bank protection.

A study on the northern sea route safety convoy using ship handling simulation (선박조종시뮬레이션을 이용한 북극해 안전 호송에 관한 연구)

  • Due to global warming it is estimated that the arctic ocean route will be avaliable and traffic will increase by approximately year 2030. However, most navigation in the arctic is based on the ice breaker captains'orders, there is no exact measurement of convoy speed and distance between ships. So, this research was conducted to find out the minimum safe separation distance and minimum breaking distance via ship controling simulations, and the results are as stated. For breaking distances, for ships that have a lead distance which is 2~4 times the width of the ship and traveling less than 7 knots, crash astern and crash astern & hard rudder showed no significant difference. But ships traveling at 10 knots there was a decrease in breaking distance of 1L, from 3.5L to 2.5L. By analyzing 10 subject ships by crash astern the breaking distance for 5 knots is 0.98L~1.8L, for 8 knots is 1.9L~4.0L. The minimum safe separation distance in narrow sea-ways is 6L, but as the arctic sea-way is only one-way 3L is required. As the result, it is found that in the arctic the safe escort speed is less than 5 knots, if the escort speed is 8knots or more and by using crash astern & hard rudder to break the safe distance should be kept at 3.4L.

Development of Suspended Sediment Concentration Measurement Technique Based on Hyperspectral Imagery with Optical Variability (분광 다양성을 고려한 초분광 영상 기반 부유사 농도 계측 기법 개발)

  • 자연 하천에서의 부유사 농도 계측은 주로 재래식 채집방식을 활용한 직접계측 방식에 의존하여 비용과 시간이 많이 소요되며 점 계측 방식으로 고해상도의 시공간 자료를 측정하기엔 한계가 존재한다. 이러한 한계점을 극복하기 위해 최근 위성영상과 드론을 활용하여 촬영된 다분광 혹은 초분광 영상을 통해 고해상도의 부유사 농도 시공간분포를 측정하는 기법에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 하지만, 다른 하천 물리량 계측에 비해 부유사 계측 연구는 하천에 따라 부유사가 비균질적으로 분포하여 원격탐사를 통해 정확하고 전역적인 농도 분포를 재현하기는 어려운 실정이다. 이러한 부유사의 비균질성은 부유사의 입도분포, 광물특성, 침강성 등이 하천에서 다양하게 분포하기 때문이며 이로 인해 부유사는 지역별로 다양한 분광특성을 가지게 된다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 이러한 영향을 고려한 전역적인 부유사 농도 예측 모형을 개발하기 위해 실내 실험을 통해 부유사 특성별 고유 분광 라이브러리를 구축하고 실규모 수로에서 다양한 부유사 조건에 대한 초분광 스펙트럼과 부유사 농도를 측정하는 실험을 수행하였다. 실제 부유사 농도는 광학 기반 센서인 LISST-200X와 샘플링을 통한 실험실 분석을 통해 계측되었으며, 초분광 스펙트럼 자료는 초분광 카메라를 통해 촬영한 영상에서 부유사 계측 지점에 대한 픽셀의 스펙트럼을 추출하여 구축하였다. 이렇게 생성된 자료들의 분광 다양성을 주성분 분석(Principle Component Analysis; PCA)를 통해 분석하였으며, 부유사의 입도 분포, 부유사 종류, 수온 등과의 상관관계를 통해 분광 특성과 가장 상관관계가 높은 물리적 인자를 규명하였다. 더불어 구축된 자료를 바탕으로 기계학습 기반 주요 특징 선택 알고리즘인 재귀적 특징 제거법 (Recursive Feature Elimination)과 기계학습기반 회귀 모형인 Support Vector Regression을 결합하여 초분광 영상 기반 부유사 농도 예측 모형을 개발하였으며, 이 결과를 원격탐사 계측 연구에서 일반적으로 사용되어 오던 최적 밴드비 분석 (Optimal Band Ratio Analysis; OBRA) 방법으로 도출된 회귀식과 비교하였다. 그 결과, 기존의 OBRA 기반 방법은 비선형성을 증가시켜도 좁은 영역의 파장대만을 고려하는 한계점으로 인해 부유사의 다양한 분광 특성을 반영하지 못하였으며, 본 연구에서 제시한 기계학습 기반 예측 모형은 420 nm~1000 nm에 걸쳐 폭 넓은 파장대를 고려함과 동시에 높은 정확도를 산출하였다. 최종적으로 개발된 모형을 적용해 다양한 유사 조건에 대한 부유사 시공간 분포를 매핑한 결과, 시공간적으로 고해상도의 부유사 농도 분포를 산출하는 것으로 밝혀졌다.

Evaluation of Applicability for 3D Scanning of Abandoned or Flooded Mine Sites Using Unmanned Mobility (무인 이동체를 이용한 폐광산 갱도 및 수몰 갱도의 3차원 형상화 위한 적용성 평가)

  • An image-reconstruction technology, involving the deployment of an unmanned mobility equipped with high-speed LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) has been proposed to reconstruct the shape of abandoned mine. Unmanned mobility operation is remarkably useful in abandoned mines fraught with operational difficulties including, but not limited to, obstacles, sludge, underwater and narrow tunnel with the diameter of 1.5 m or more. For cases of real abandoned mines, quadruped robots, quadcopter drones and underwater drones are respectively deployed on land, air, and water-filled sites. In addition to the advantage of scanning the abandoned mines with 2D solid-state lidar sensors, rotation of radiation at an inclination angle offers an increased efficiency for simultaneous reconstruction of mineshaft shapes and detecting obstacles. Sensor and robot posture were used for computing rotation matrices that helped compute geographical coordinates of the solid-state lidar data. Next, the quadruped robot scanned the actual site to reconstruct tunnel shape. Lastly, the optimal elements necessary to increase utility in actual fields were found and proposed.
