  • 심장은 생명의 가장 중요한 장기 중 하나이며, 이 중요성은 인공심장의 연구를 불러일으켰다. 본 고에서는 전세계적으로 연구되는 인공 심장 제어의 방법론, 추세 그리고 현 상황을 비교 분석하였다. 인공 심장 개발에 있어서 중요한 연구 분야 중 하나인 인공 심장 제어는 자연 심장의 역할을 최대한 모방하여야 하는데 현실적으로 각종 생리적 제어 인자를 얻기에는 센서 기술의 한계가 있다. 따라서 인공 심장을 위한 많은 제어 변수가 연구되었으나, 단지 몇 가지만 실제로 적용되는 상태이다. 본고에서는 왜 다른 요인들이 제외되었으며 무엇이 현재 제어 방식의 선택 기준으로 고려되었는지를 설명한다. 이것을 설명하기 위하여 인공 심장의 제어에 앞서서 자연 심장의 제어를 짧게 설명하고, 5개의 대표적인 인공 심장 제어 연구 조직을 선정하여 소개와 정리를 하였다.

RCA-mer: A Web-Based Program Searching for Primer Candidates (핵산증폭용 특정 길이의 Primer 검색 프로그램)

  • Recently, rolling circle amplification (RCA) technique has been widely focused in the field of gene amplification just like PCR method. We have developed RCA-mer, which is a web-based program searching for primer candidates from a given sequence. It can be applied to find primer lists in DNA amplification experiment based on RCA method. The RCA-mer compares 8-mer primer lists with user's input sequence such as vector, mitochondria, and microbial genome sequence. After calculating 8-mers existences in a given sequence, it displays matched and no-matched primer lists with their GC-contents. In addition to it, RCA-mer can search the existence of 8-mer primer lists in two sequences whether they are co-existed or not. Users can apply candidate primer lists to their researches which use RCA techniques.

Growth Effect of Tomato Treated with Bacillus sp. WRD-1 Cultures (Bacillus sp. WRD-1 배양액 처리가 토마토 생육에 미치는 영향)

  • To investgate growth effect of tomato by Bacillus sp. WRD-1 isolated from soil, the Bacillus sp. WRD-1 cultures were treated into tomato cultivated soil with different dilutions (1:100, 1:300, and 1:500) and autoclaved Bacillus cultures as control. Growth and yeild of tomato enhanced in treatments of the Bacillus cultures compared to control. The populations of native bacteria and actinomyces were increased twice in field treated with Bacillus sp. WRD-1 cultures, but the number of mold was decreased. Since the Bacillus sp. WRD-1 promoted growth of tomato and affected population dynamics of microorganism in field, this strain is prominent candidate as a microbial biocide to improve soil potential.

  • Potholes are caused by the presence of water in the underlying soil structure, which weakens the road pavement by expansion and contraction of water at freezing and thawing temperatures. Recently, automatic pothole detection systems have been studied, such as vibration-based methods and laser scanning methods. However, the vibration-based methods have low detection accuracy and limited detection area. Moreover, the costs for laser scanning-based methods are significantly high. Thus, in this paper, we propose a new pothole detection system using a commercial black-box camera. Normally, the computing power of a commercial black-box camera is limited. Thus, the pothole detection algorithm should be designed to work with the embedded computing environment of a black-box camera. The designed pothole detection algorithm has been tested by implementing in a black-box camera. The experimental results are analyzed with specific evaluation metrics, such as sensitivity and precision. Our studies confirm that the proposed pothole detection system can be utilized to gather pothole information in real-time.

Study on the Stress and Displacement Distribution in the Glass Plate for Vacuum-sealed Flat Panel Displays (평판디스플레이용 진공패널에서 유리기판이 받는 응력 및 변위분포에 관한 연구)

  • For vacuum seated panel, stresses and displacements in the glass plate were calculated. The geometric variables for our experiment were the thickness of glass plate, the size of panel and the width of sealing line. The fracture behaviors and displacements of its under the vacuum were measured. From the measurement of strains and fracture, it was considered that the maximum stress acted at the middle of the sides of the panel. The stresses and displacement distribution of manufactured panels were greatly dependent on the width of the sealing line in the panel. The measured values are more similar to the values which were calculated from the condition of built-in edge as the width of the sealing line is larger. The measured displacement of the panel, made of 3mm thick glass plate, with size of $80\Times120\textrm{mm}^2$ and 20mm sealing line was $57\mu\textrm{m}$. This value is similar to calculated value, $54\mu\textrm{m}$, from built- in edge condition in the finite element method.

  • In this paper, an integrated simulation model for designing multi-agent system based DEMS (distributed energy management system) in stand-alone micro-grid system is proposed. In the design of the EMS(energy management system), the multi-agent based DEMS are more effective than conventional centralized EMS, but it is difficult to design the DEMS by general design tools for power system because of various states of a microgrid system during operation of stand-alone mode. Also, since performance test of the DEMS using a real system is inefficient, an integrated simulation model is required for designing an effective multi-agent system based DEMS. The proposed model consists of Matlab/SimPowerSystems based simulation model of the microgrid system and the Multi-agnet based DEMS designed by Matlab/StateFlow tool. In order to show the effect of the proposed model, the model outputs are analyzed for specified operation conditions.

  • The purpose of this study is safety evaluation of solar energy generation which is installed on the canopy at the LPG filling station. in case of a gas station, the solar energy generation was become legalization through a related law reform in 2008. Also, in case of a LPG filling station, the solar energy generation was become legalization through a related law reform in 2015. So, the related law that KGS CODE and Safety control of dangerous substances law and the case of installed solar energy generation in gas, LPG filling station was investigated. two scenarios are supposed for the CFD. Release of safety valve pipeline and ruptured dispenser leakage are the scenarios. The FLACS which developed GexCon in Norway was used for simulation. LPG dispersion to the upper side of canopy was very small with safety distance.

  • In this paper, we analyze the performance and reliability of the next-generation KRTCS (Korea Radio Train System) network. The KRTCS has been designed to manage and control the overall status of trains including location, speed, stop position, door open/close status and interior monitoring and so forth. System faults of the KRTCS operation can lead to the disruption of smooth train flow, even to terrible traffic accident. Prior to installation we need to assure the reliability of the designed KRTCS system. For this purpose, we simulated and analyzed the KRTCS network using QualNet simulator, assuming the various environmental operation data of train flows and communication faults that can be found in real telecommunication networks.

  • A process control graphic system is proposed as an efficient tool for monitoring the operation of power plant. It uses the multi-processor structure with 60 Kbyte shared memory as an implemental type of the distributed computer system, so that it is flexible, functionally extensible, and applicable to real-time process. The shared memory is used as a real-time database handling the process values and operator's commands. The database files, generated by the user-interactive graphic editor developed for the system or text editor, have the characteristics of simplicity and user-friendliness. The process control graphic system, that can monitor the operation of boiler and function as a backup controller in case of failure in boiler controller, is applied to Ulsan power plant. As a result, it displays the operating data of the boiler process without error by 14 pages of color graphic image according to the operation menu, and additionally functions well as a fault-tolerant control system.

  • This study was investigated the changes of gel properties about pH, color and water holding capacity at various hydration time and temperature of food-grade additives (BPP: bovine plasma protein, DEW: dried egg white, SPI: soy protein isolate). The changes of rheological properties were checked about hydration time and temperature. Hydration time and temperature affected pH value, hydration decreased pH of SPI and DEW. The BPP was not influenced at hydration time and temperature. Some Hydration condition increased jelly strength of food-grade additive, but SPI did not form a gel at all hydration condition. Hydration increased lightness of food-protein.
