An underlying assumption of traditional hydrologic frequency analysis is that climate, and hence the frequency of hydrologic events, is stationary, or unchanging over time. Under stationary conditions, the distribution of the variable of interest is invariant to temporal translation. Water resources infrastructure planning and design, such as dams, levees, canals, bridges, and culverts, relies on an understanding of past conditions and projection of future conditions. But, Water managers have always known our world is inherently non-stationary, and they routinely deal with this in management and planning. The aim of this paper is to give a brief introduction to non-stationary extreme value analysis methods. In this paper, a non-stationary hydrologic frequency analysis approach is introduced in order to determine probability rainfall consider changing climate. The non-stationary statistical approach is based on the conditional Generalized Extreme Value(GEV) distribution and Maximum Likelihood parameter estimation. This method are applied to the annual maximum 24 hours-rainfall. The results show that the non-stationary GEV approach is suitable for determining probability rainfall for changing climate, sucha sa trend, Moreover, Non-stationary frequency analyzed using SOI(Southern Oscillation Index) of ENSO(El Nino Southern Oscillation).
This paper suggests a conditional simulation framework based on multiple data transformations for geostatistical simulation of compositional data. First, log-ratio transformation is applied to original compositional data in order to apply conventional statistical methodologies. As for the next transformations that follow, minimum/maximum autocorrelation factors (MAF) and indicator transformations are sequentially applied. MAF transformation is applied to generate independent new variables and as a result, an independent simulation of individual variables can be applied. Indicator transformation is also applied to non-parametric conditional cumulative distribution function modeling of variables that do not follow multi-Gaussian random function models. Finally, inverse transformations are applied in the reverse order of those transformations that are applied. A case study with surface sediment compositions in tidal flats is carried out to illustrate the applicability of the presented simulation framework. All simulation results satisfied the constraints of compositional data and reproduced well the statistical characteristics of the sample data. Through surface sediment classification based on multiple simulation results of compositions, the probabilistic evaluation of classification results was possible, an evaluation unavailable in a conventional kriging approach. Therefore, it is expected that the presented simulation framework can be effectively applied to geostatistical simulation of various compositional data.

In a parametric sample selection model, the distribution assumption is critical to obtain consistent estimates. Conventionally, the normality assumption has been adopted for both error terms in selection and main equations of the model. The normality assumption, however, may excessively restrict the true underlying distribution of the model. This study introduces the $S_U$-normal distribution into the error distribution of a sample selection model. The $S_U$-normal distribution can accommodate a wide range of skewness and kurtosis compared to the normal distribution. It also includes the normal distribution as a limiting distribution. Moreover, the $S_U$-normal distribution can be easily extended to multivariate dimensions. We provide the log-likelihood function and expected value formula based on a bivariate $S_U$-normal distribution in a sample selection model. The results of simulations indicate the $S_U$-normal model outperforms the normal model for the consistency of estimators. As an empirical application, we provide the sample selection model for car ownership and a car expense relationship.
Reliability of the estimation is usually damaged in the situation where a linear regression model without spatial dependencies is employed to the spatial data analysis. In this study, we considered the conditional autoregressive model in order to construct spatial association structures and estimate the parameters via the Bayesian approaches. Finally, we compared the performances of the models with spatial effects and the ones without spatial effects. We analyzed the yearly total crime count data measured from each of 25 districts in Seoul, South Korea in 2007.

Direct numerical simulations were carried out for turbulent channel flows with $Re_{\tau}$ = 180, 395 and 590 to investigate the turbulent flow structure related to the Reynolds shear stress. By examining the probability density function, the second quadrant (Q2) events with the largest contribution to the mean Reynolds shear stress were identified. The change in the inclination angle of Q2 events varies with wall units in $y^+<50$ and with the channel half height in y/h > 0.5. Conditionally averaged flow fields for the Q2 event show that the flow structures associated with Reynolds shear stress are a quasi-streamwise vortex in the buffer layer and a hairpin-shaped vortex in the outer layer. Three-dimensional visualization of the distribution of high Reynolds shear stress reveals that the organization of hairpin vortices in the outer layer having a size of 1.5~3 h is associated with large-scale motions with high Reynolds shear stress in the outer layer.

Lasso (Tibshirani, 1996) and Elastic Net (Zou and Hastie, 2005) have been widely used in various fields for simultaneous variable selection and coefficient estimation. Bayesian methods using a conditional Laplace and a double Pareto prior specification have been discussed in the form of hierarchical specification. Full conditional posterior distributions with each priors have been derived. We compare the performance of Bayesian lassos with Laplace prior and the performance with double Pareto prior using simulations. We also apply the proposed Bayesian hierarchical models to real data sets to predict the collapse of governments in Asia.

We present methods for studying the log-density ratio that enables the selection of the predictors and the form to be included in the logistic regression model. Under bivariate normal distributional assumptions, we investigate the form of the log-density ratio as a function of two predictors. If two covariance matrices are equal, then the crossproduct and quadratic terms are not needed. If the variables are uncorrelated, we do not need the crossproduct terms, but we still need the linear and quadratic terms. We also explore other conditions in which the crossproduct and quadratic terms are not needed in the logistic regression model.
