  • 지난 6월 20일부터 200여 개의 테스트 대상 제과점에서 SK텔레콤 제휴카드 할인서비스가 시작됐다. 이번 테스트 마케팅은 8월 본격적인 시행을 앞두고 제휴마케팅의 성격을 결정짓는 것인 만큼 매우 중요한 의미를 갖는다. 이제 테스트 마케팅 시작 한 달. 매출로 연결될 만큼 뚜렷한 성과가 있는 것은 아니지만 지속적인 홍보만 따라준다면 자영제과점 경쟁력 키우기에 한 몫 할 것으로 기대를 모으고 있다.

A Study on Profitability of the Allianced Discount Program with Credit Cards and Loyalty Cards in Food & Beverage Industry (제휴카드 할인프로그램이 외식업의 수익성에 미치는 영향)

  • Recently strategic alliance between business firms has become prevalent to overcome increasing competitive threats and to supplement resource limitation of individual firms. As one of allianced sales promotion activities, a new type of discount program, so called "Alliance Card Discount", is introduced with the partnership of credit cards and loyalty cards. The program mainly pursues short-term sales growth by larger discount scheme while spends less through cost share among alliance partners. Thus this program can be regarded as cost efficient discount promotion. But because there is no solid evidence that it can really deliver profitable sales growth, an empirical study for its effects on sales and profit should be conducted. This study has two basic research questions concerning the effects of allianced discount program ; 1)the possibility of sales increase 2) the profitability of the discount driven sales. In F&B industry, sales increase mainly comes from increased guest count. Especially in family restaurants, to increase the number of guests we need to enlarge the size of visitor group (number of visitors for one group) because customers visit by group in a special occasion. And because they pay the bill by group(table), the increase of sales per table is a key measure for sales improvement. The past researches for price & discount sensitivity and reference discount rate explain that price sensitive consumers have narrow reference discount zone and make rational purchase decision. Differently from all time discount scheme of regular sales promotions, the alliance card discount program only provides the right to get discount like discount coupon. And because it is usually once a month opportunity given by the past month usage level, customers tend to perceive alliance card discount as a rare chance to get. So that we can expect customers try to maximize the discount effect when they use the limited discount opportunity. Considering group visiting practice and low visit frequency of family restaurants, the way to maximize discount effect should be the increase the size of visit group. And their sensitivity to discount and rational consumption behavior defer the additional spending for ordering high price menu, even though they get considerable amount of savings from the discount. From the analysis of sales data paid by alliance discount cards for four months, we found the below. 1) The relation between discount rate and number of guest per table is positive : 25% discount results one additional guest 2) The relation between discount rate and the spending per guest is negative. 3) However, total profit amount per table is increased when discount rate is increased. 4) Reward point accumulation & redemption did not show any significant relationship with the increase of number of guests. These results suggest that the allianced discount program substantially contributes to sales increase and profit improvement by increasing the number of guests per table. Though the spending per guest is decreased by discount rate increase, the total amount of profit per table is improved. It seems the incremental profit by increased guest count offsets the profit decrease. Additional intriguing finding is the point reward system does not have any significant impact on the increase of number of guest, even if the point accumulation & redemption of loyalty program are usually regarded as another saving offers by customers. In sum, because it is proved that allianced discount program with credit cards and loyalty cards is effective to both sales drive and profit increase, the alliance card program could be recommended as strategically buyable program.

  • 지난 6월 16일 '이동통신사 제휴카드페지 및 생존권 보호 비상대책위원회'가 결단식을 갖고 정식 발족했다. 그동안 끊임없이 제기돼었던 제휴카드 할인에 대한 자영제과점의 불만이 극을 치닫고 우후죽순 격으로 문까지 닫는 상황에 이르게 되자 출발부터 불공정한 경쟁을 강요당하고 있는 자신들의 생존권을 주장하고 나선 것이다. 이날 선출된 8명의 공동위원장은 전국 1만 여 자영제과점을 대표해 대기업이 앞장서 행하는 '영세 자영업자 죽이기'에 맞서 싸우기 위해 결연한 의지를 불태우고 있다.

An Exploratory Study on Tie-in Promotion (제휴 프로모션에 관한 탐색적 연구)

  • In today's market scenario, consumers are bombarded with similar promotional messages. It means that managers have to pay attention to promotion strategy to create strong effect as well as to break through the monotony. In this context, although there are strong needs concerning tie-in promotion, research investigating tie-in promotion is limited. Therefore, we extracted tie-in promotion tools and defined the concept of each tie-in promotion tool by analyzing various tie-in promotion cases which are executed in current market. In addition, consumer's recognition of tie-in promotion was investigated through the in-depth interview. The results of case analysis of tie-in promotion and in-depth interview are summarized as follows. First, 9 tie-in promotion tools were extracted: tie-in price reductions, tie-in coupons, tie-in membership, tie-in contests, tie-in premiums (tangibility, intangibility), tie-in payment terms, tie-in sample, tie-in event(culture event, charity event, experience event) and tie-in fund·rebate. Second, 3 categories of the recognition of the consumer for tie-in promotion were extracted: features of preferred tie-in promotion, expectation benefit of tie-in promotion, and risk factors of tie-in promotion. Especially, at the aspect of features of preferred tie-in promotion, fit between consumer pursuit benefit and tie-in promotion was found to be interesting. Moreover, the recognition of the consumer for tie-in promotion were divided with positive(preferred tie-in promotion features, expectation benefit of tie-in promotion) and negative(risk factors of tie-in promotion) factors. In conclusion, the company's effort will be necessary to lower the perceived risk level occurring from the process of accomplishing the tie-in promotion strategy since consumers recognize both positive and negative effects of tie-in promotion.

A Study on The Classifications of Tie-in Promotion Tools according to Benefit Fit (혜택적합성에 따른 제휴 프로모션 수단의 유형화에 관한 연구)

  • This study was intended to classify tie-in promotion tools by the criteria of benefit-fit between consumer and tie-in promotions. Tie-in promotion tools include tie-in price reductions, tie-in coupons, tie-in memberships, tie-in contests, tie-in sweepstakes, tangible and intangible tie-in premiums, tie-in payment terms, tie-in samples, tie-in events(culture event, charity event, experience event) and tie-in fund·rebates. The fit between consumer pursuit benefit and tie-in promotion supplying benefit was used as a classification criteria on the basis of Lee et al.'s study in 2011. For the experiment, one stimuli and 12 scenarioes were developed. 100 pieces of data were obtained for each scenario. As a result, benefit fit was subsequently divided into two factors: hedonic-benefit fit and utilitarian-benefit fit. Tie-in promotion tools were then classified into 4 types: high hedonic benefit-added, high utilitarian benefit-added, low hedonic benefit-added, and low utilitarian benefit-added. In previous research, tie-in promotion type was mainly divided by the evaluative criteria on company's viewpoint such as horizontal/vertical or intra-company/ inter-company, which reflects mutual exclusiveness between two criteria. Whereas, in this study, tie-in promotion type was divided by evaluative criteria on consumer's viewpoint such as hedonic- benefit fit/utilitarian-benefit fit. The classifications in this study practically reflect benefit-added of tie-in promotion type superadded one benefit coexisting two benefits.

  • Since service competition among global supply chains became intensified, market-oriented system, instead of the existing cost-based system, for port service pricing has been strongly recommended in order to enhance their long-term viability and competitiveness. The Owen value of cooperative game frameworks allows us to apply a market-oriented pricing theory for the port pricing in the case of Gwangyang port to verify its usefulness. The analytical results of this paper suggested some solutions in the problem of berth-based cost allocation by a characteristic function and also showed the proper relative weights of factors to derive the quay use index by Budescu(1993). We also suggested a favorable port pricing system to major shipping firms as well as a discount port pricing system for their strategic alliance. To put it differently, the results of this study enable the port managers to make out some strategic port pricing system like the reasonable discount in port charge for the larger ship owners using the ports frequently.

The effect of the coupon is a hard fact to an aid of working out successful strategy by the results that many scholar studied for long time. But the results of research was centered upon examining to influence br image company's sales, gains for guessing exchange action of coupon. Antecedent researches of our country is a lot of coupon combination discount card for drawing on revisiting making new consumer. The purpose of the study is to identify how to influence br familiarity br image into intending purchase revisiting by coupon property. In this study, collage man, worker located in Seoul Kyunggi province were sampled by convenience sampling. As a result, Br familiarity br image affect affirmatively intending purchase revisiting by coupon property.

The Propensity Effect of Using Alliance Discount Cards on Brand Equity and Satisfaction of Family Restaurant Users (패밀리 레스토랑 이용고객의 제휴 할인카드 사용 성향이 브랜드 에쿼티와 만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to look into how alliance discount cards affect customers using family restaurants by analyzing and identifying the difference in brand equity and satisfaction according to the propensity of using alliance discount cards. For this purpose, 407 customers who have used family restaurants completed a questionnaire survey. The study findings indicated that (1) there were significant differences in brand equity and satisfaction according to the propensity to use alliance discount cards. Moreover, it was found that groups with a strong propensity to use alliance discount cards had higher brand equity and satisfaction than groups that did not; also, (2) it was found that there were significant differences in brand equity and satisfaction according to the intensity of dependency on alliance discount cards. The group with strong loyalty to alliance discount cards went beyond the level of strong propensity to use alliance discount cards, of preference, and of use, which were previously proposed. This study implied that from mid-to long-term perspectives, it was necessary to operate a policy for more active alliance discounts as well as to ensure sufficient options for partnership benefits. Furthermore, it was essential to maintain the menu and service quality of restaurants, which were intrinsic factors for elevating brand equity and satisfaction in restaurants among dining customers.
