Behaviors of the High-profile Arch Soil-steel Structure During Construction (높은 아치형 지중강판 구조물의 시공 중 거동 분석)

  • The metallic shell of soil-steel structures are so weak in bending moment that it should sustain the applied load by the interaction of the backfill soil around the structures. The shell can be subjected to excessive bending moment during side backfilling or under live-load when the soil cover is less than the minimum value. The current design code specifies the allowable deformation and Duncan(1979) and McGrath et al.(2001) suggested the strength analysis methods to limit the moments by the plastic capacity of the shell. However, the allowable deformation is an empirically determined value and the strength analysis methods are based on the results of FE analysis, hence the experimental verification is necessary. In this study, the full-scale tests were conducted on the high-profile arch to investigate its behaviors during backfilling and under static live-loads. Based on the measurements, the allowable deformation of the tested structure could be estimated to be 1.45% of rise, which is smaller than the specified allowable deformation. The comparison between the measurements and the results of two strength analyses indicate that Duncan underestimates the earth-load moment and overestimates the live-load moment, while McGrath et al. predicts both values close to the actual values. However, as the predicted factors of safeties using two methods coincide with the actual factor of safety, it can be concluded that both methods can predict the structural stability under live-loads adequately when the cover is less than the minimum.

  • The Seoul Onsu Industrial Complex, having been completed over 50 years ago, is an old industrial complex, with deteriorating infrastructure and factory buildings. Despite this, there's a current urban industrial agglomeration centered on the machinery industry in the Seoul Onsu Industrial Complex. This study aims to holistically analyze the physical deterioration of facilities in the aging industrial complex and the characteristics of industrial agglomeration to derive the identity of the Seoul Onsu Industrial Complex. Based on the research findings, the complex is seeing an enhanced urban industrial agglomeration due to the influx of small-scale businesses resulting from concentrated trade networks in the metropolitan area and plot subdivision, permission for noise-producing processes, and the ease of securing highly-skilled technicians. However, this agglomeration coexists with a weakening of the complex's production function, limited innovativeness of resident companies, and non-innovative features resulting from weakened competitiveness in the metropolitan machinery industry. In summary, the identity of the Seoul Onsu Industrial Complex is a 'Non-Innovative Urban Industry Agglomeration', an old industrial complex, witnessing non-innovative agglomeration based on a machinery industry network centered in the metropolitan area.

  • Wenn nach dem starken Trinken etwas strafbares passiert, so ist das Gesamtverhalten als $strafw{\ddot{u}}rdig$ und strafbar anzuerkennen. Aber nach dem Schuldprinzip handelt ohne Schuld, wer bei Begehung der Tat $unf{\ddot{a}}hig$ ist, das Unrecht der Tat einzusehen oder nach dieser Einsicht zu handeln(Koinzidenzprinzip). Die Rechtsfigur der "actio libera in causa" dient dazu, diese in $h{\ddot{a}}ufigen$ $F{\ddot{a}}llen$ als kriminalpolitisch $unerw{\ddot{u}}nscht$ empfundene $L{\ddot{u}}cke$ zu umgehen. Dabei kommt auch dem Vollrauschtatbestand in der Praxis $erh{\ddot{o}}hte$ Bedeutung zu. Der deutsche Gesetzgeber war sich bei der Aufnahme des Vollrauschtatbestandes in das Gesetz durchaus $bewu{\ss}t$, $da{\ss}$ die Vorschrift eine Ausnahme zur Schuldzurechnungsregelung darstellte. Er $w{\ddot{a}}hlte$ jedoch die Form eines $selbst{\ddot{a}}ndigen$ Tatbestandes, um die Durchbrechung des reinen Schuldprinzips $ertr{\ddot{a}}glich$ zu machen. Der Vollrauschtatbestand ist ein abstraktes $Gef{\ddot{a}}hrdungdsdelikt$ -demnach die im Rausch verwirklichte rechtswidrige Tat nur objektive Bedingung der Strafbarkeit ist -, das sachlich eine Schuldzurechnungsregelung $enth{\ddot{a}}lt$, und zwar eine Ausnahme $gegen{\ddot{u}}ber$ die Regelungen ${\ddot{u}}ber$ Schuldzurechnung. Dieser Vollrauschtatbestand ist dennoch als regitime $Erg{\ddot{a}}nzung$ der in Schuldzurechnungsregelungen beschriebenen $Schuldzurechnungsgrunds{\ddot{a}}tze$ anzusehen. Er steht $n{\ddot{a}}mlich$ in Einklang mit dem Schuldgrundsatz, wenn als subjektives Tatbestandsmerkmal des Vollrausches die Kenntnis der $Gef{\ddot{a}}hrlichkeit$ des Rauschzustandes $f{\ddot{u}}r$ die Begehung von Delikten vorausgesetzt wird.

A Study on the Characteristics of SM570TMC Plates in Compression Members (SM570TMC 강재의 압축재 특성에 관한 연구)

  • There is a great need for high-strength steel especially for the high-rise steel building structure. High-strength steels, however, may have mechanical properties that are significantly different from those of the conventional steels. The application of high-strength steels to building structures should be reviewed as to whether the inelastic behavior equivalent to that of conventional steels can be attained or not. In this study, SM570TMC steel was tested to evaluate buckling strength under axial compressive force. The comparison tests for local buckling strength evaluation of box-type and H-shaped welded columns were performed with variable width-thickness ratios. As for the experimental check, the maximum strength of stub column was determined by local buckling as far as the limit of width-to-thickness ratio was satisfied with current design codes. Also, the strength of the stub column did not decrease suddenly by local buckling before maximum strength even when the ratio is not satisfied. The buckling strength of SM570TMC steel was higher than both ASD (Allowable Stress Design) and LRFD (Load and Resistance Factor Design) specifications.

Realtime Compensation of PCC Voltage Variation by Injection of Required Reactive Power in a Grid Connected Variable Speed Wind Turbine (계통 연계형 가변속 풍력발전기의 무효전력 주입을 통한 PCC 전압 변동량 실시간 보상)

  • In a grid connected variable speed wind turbine, the PCC voltage and the wind power fluctuate as the wind velocity changed. And this voltage variation is changed due to location of PCC. This paper calculate the value of PCC voltage variation which is proportional to the product of the line impedance from the ideal generator to the PCC and the wind turbine output current. And to reduce this PCC voltage variation, this paper calculate the required reactive power analytically using the vector diagram method. Output reactive current is changed, if the reactive current is limited by inverter capacity or grid code have the margin of voltage variation. If the grid connected inverter is controlled by proposed algorithm, the PCC voltage variation is minimized though the wind turbine output change at random. To verify calculated voltage variation and required reactive power, this paper utilized Matlab and PSCAD/EMTDC simulation and real small wind turbine and power system in Sapsido, island in the Yellow Sea.

  • Power system which provides electricity to the accident mitigation load for nuclear power plant should be verified to maintain the proper voltage level under the various loading and source conditions. For this purpose, it was needed to collect the voltage data of safety related buses during operation of the Reactor Coolant Pump(RCP) motor and Component Cooling Water Pump(CCWP) motor, respectively, under the certain loading condition of the plant. The data (such as, voltage, current, power factor) collected from actual measurement were used to modify the existing ETAP model and then the reanalysis was conducted to simulate the testing conditions. Through these actual measurement and analysis, it ensures that the existing electrical system analysis including assumptions and methods was conducted properly. Finally, the voltage of safety related buses was not dropped below the acceptable level, and the discrepancy between two results was within the limit.

Train interval control and train-centric distributed interlocking algorithm for autonomous train driving control system (열차자율주행제어시스템을 위한 간격제어와 차상중심 분산형 연동 알고리즘)

  • Train control systems have changed from wayside electricity-centric to onboard communications-centric. The latest train control system, the CBTC system, has high efficiency for interval control based on two-way radio communications between the onboard and wayside systems. However, since the wayside system is the center of control, the number of input trains to allow a wayside system is limited, and due to the cyclic-path control flows between onboard and wayside systems, headway improvement is limited. In this paper, we propose a train interval-control and train-centric distributed interlocking algorithm for an autonomous train-driving control system. Because an autonomous train-driving control system performs interval and branch control onboard, both tracks and switches are shared resources as well as semaphore elements. The proposed autonomous train-driving control performs train interval control via direct communication between trains or between trains and track-side apparatus, instead of relying on control commands from ground control systems. The proposed interlocking algorithm newly defines the semaphore scheme using a unique key for the shared resource, and a switch that is not accessed at the same time by the interlocking system within each train. The simulated results show the proposed autonomous train-driving control system improves interval control performance, and safe train control is possible with a simplified interlocking algorithm by comparing the proposed train-centric distributed interlocking algorithm and various types of interlock logic performed in existing interlocking systems.

Study on Vessel Traffic Risk Assessment according to Waterway Patterns in a Southwest Offshore Wind Farm (서남해 해상풍력발전단지 내 항로형태에 따른 선박통항 위험도 평가에 관한 연구)

  • Domestic southwest offshore wind farms have problems such as the reduction in fishing rights by prohibiting vessel traffic, which delays their development. As such, there is a need to develop offshore windfarms in Europe to permit the passage of vessels and fishing operations in specific offshore windfarm areas. In this study, we used the environmental stress (ES model) and the IALA Waterway Risk Assessment Program (IWRAP) to determine the ratio of risk to the route type (cross pattern, grid pattern) and traffic volume (present, 3 times, 5 times and 10 times) to derive the risk factors of specific vessels for offshore windfarms. As a result, ship operators' risk related to offshore windfarms did not rise in both route types and there was no significant difference in the annual probability of collision in the present traffic volume. In conditions that increased traffic volume by 3 times, 5 times and 10 times, the risk ratio increased as ship operator risk and collision probability increased at the crossing points. Furthermore, when the traffic volume of the ship increased, the risk could be more effectively distributed in the grid route compared to the cross route. The results of this study are expected to apply to the operation type, route operation method, safety measures, etc. in offshore wind farms.

A Study on the Shear Bond Strength of Veneering Ceramics to the Lithium Disilicate (IPS e.max CAD) Core (Lithium Disilicate (IPS e.max CAD) 코어와 전장 도재 사이의 전단결합강도에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the shear bond strength between various commercial all-ceramic system core and veneering ceramics, and evaluate the clinical stability by comparing the conventional metal ceramic system. The test samples were divided into three groups: Ni-Cr alloy (metal bond), yttria-stabilized, tetragonal zirconia polycrystal (Y-TZP) (zirconia bond), lithium disilicate (lithium disilicate bond). The veneering porcelain recommended by the manufacturer for each type of material was fired to the core. After firing, the specimens were subjected to shear force in a universal testing machine. Load was applied at a crosshead speed of 0.50 mm/min until failure. Average shear strengths (mega pascal) were analyzed with a one-way analysis of variance and the Tukey test (${\alpha}$=0.05). The mean shear bond strength${\pm}$SD in MPa was $44.79{\pm}2.31$ in the Ni-Cr alloy group, $28.32{\pm}4.41$ in the Y-TZP group, $15.91{\pm}1.39$ in the Lithium disilicate group. The ANOVA showed a significant difference among groups (p<0.05). None of the all-ceramic system core and veneering ceramics could attain the high bond strength values of the metal ceramic combination.

Development of JPEG2000 Viewer for Mobile Image System (이동형 의료영상 장치를 위한 JPEG2000 영상 뷰어 개발)

  • Currently, as a consequence of PACS (Picture Archiving Communication System) implementation many hospitals are replacing conventional film-type interpretations of diagnostic medical images with new digital-format interpretations that can also be saved, and retrieve However, the big limitation in PACS is considered to be the lack of mobility. The purpose of this study is to determine the optimal communication packet size. This was done by considering the terms occurred in the wireless communication. After encoding medical image using JPGE2000 image compression method, This method embodied auto-error correction technique preventing the loss of packets occurred during wireless communication. A PC class server, with capabilities to load, collect data, save images, and connect with other network, was installed. Image data were compressed using JPEG2000 algorithm which supports the capability of high energy density and compression ratio, to communicate through a wireless network. Image data were also transmitted in block units coeded by JPEG2000 to prevent the loss of the packets in a wireless network. When JPGE2000 image data were decoded in a PUA (Personal Digital Assistant), it was instantaneous for a MR (Magnetic Resonance) head image of 256${\times}$256 pixels, while it took approximately 5 seconds to decode a CR (Computed Radiography) chest image of 800${\times}$790 pixels. In the transmission of the image data using a CDMA 1X module (Code-Division Multiple Access 1st Generation), 256 byte/sec was considered a stable transmission rate, but packets were lost in the intervals at the transmission rate of 1Kbyte/sec. However, even with a transmission rate above 1 Kbyte/sec, packets were not lost in wireless LAN. Current PACS are not compatible with wireless networks. because it does not have an interface between wired and wireless. Thus, the mobile JPEG2000 image viewing system was developed in order to complement mobility-a limitation in PACS. Moreover, the weak-connections of the wireless network was enhanced by re-transmitting image data within a limitations The results of this study are expected to play an interface role between the current wired-networks PACS and the mobile devices.
