가축전염병 선진화 대책과 사료기업의 리스크 관리 방안

  • 지난 2010년 11월 28일 경북 안동에서 시작된 FMD는 2011년 초여름 까지 전라도와 제주도를 제외한 전국으로 확산되면서 축산 사료산업은 물론 관련 산업에까지 엄청난 피해를 가져왔으며, 지금도 그 후유증이 가시지 않은 상태에 있다. 이에 정부에서는 FMD가 소강상태로 접어들기 시작한 지난해 5월부터 고강도의 각종 방역대책을 내놓고 추진중에 있다. 이에 따라 본지는 그동안 정부가 내놓은 가축전염병 방역대책들과 사료업체의 방역관리 시스템에 대해 알아보고자 한다.

  • 지난 10월 20일 제주도국제컨벤션센터에서 아시아 태평양가금학회(APPC 2014)가 개최되었다. 국내는 물론 전 세계 가금학계 인사들이 한 자리에 모인 자리에서 다한영농조합법인 이만형 조합장이 양계 생산 부분 농림축산식품부 장관상을 수상하는 영예를 안았다. 이만형 조합장을 만나 16년째 탄탄하게 운영하고 있는 다한영농조합의 그간 활동사항 및 성공요인 그리고 앞으로 조합계획에 대해 들어보았다.

Effect of Glycerol and Ethylene Glycol on Post-Thawed Sperm Function in Jeju Horse (제주마의 동결정액 제조에 있어 Glycerol과 EthyleneGlycol이 동결 융해 후 정자의 기능에 미치는 영향)

  • Cryopreservation induces sublethal damage to the spermatozoa, which leads to their reduced fertile life. This study was designed to determine effect of glycerol and ethylene glycol as cryoprotectant in extender on improve the freezability of Jeju horse semen. The semen was cryopreserved with glucose-EDTA extender containing each 5% glycerol, 5% ethylene glycol, 8% glycerol or 8% ethylene glycol, respectively. Post-thawed sperm were evaluated motility, viability, Membrane integrity and acrosome integrity. Post-thawed sperm motility were not significantly differences among treatments. However, sperm viability were significantly higher (p<0.05) in 8% glycerol ($39.85%{\pm}11.41$) than in 5% glycerol treatment ($18.08%{\pm}1.61$). In membrane integrity, swelling sperm ratio was significantly higher (p<0.05) in 8% glycerol ($34.12%{\pm}11.02$) than other treatments. In the percentage of capacitated sperm assessed by CTC staining, F pattern was significantly higher in 8% ethylene glycol than 5% glycerol and 5% ethylene glycol (p<0.05). B pattern ratio was significantly increased in 5% ethylene glycol compared with 8% glcerol and 8% ethylene glycol (p<0.05). Moreover, 8% ethylene glycol treatment was significantly decreased AR pattern ratio compared with other treatments (p<0.05). It is concluded that treatment of 8% glycerol was improved the sperm viability and 8% ethylene glycol was improved the sperm ascrosome integrity after thawing. However, they were not significantly difference between 8% glycerol and 8% ethylene glycol on post-thawed sperm viability. Therefore, 8% ethylene glycol was more effective sperm cryoprotectant than 8% glycerol in Jeju Horse.

Incidence and Occurrence Pattern of Viruses in Lilies (Lilium spp.) on Jeju Island (제주지역 백합에서의 바이러스 발생 현황)

  • To investigate the incidence status of lily viruses on Jeju island, lily samples were collected from 2015 to 2018 and examined for virus infection using RT-PCR. Of the viral infections, mixed and single infections were 70.0% and 17.9%, respectively. The incidence of mixed infections was highest for PlAMV and LSV as 43.4% in 2015; PlAMV, LSV 33.1% in 2016; LSV, LMoV 10.2% in 2017; and PlAMV, LSV, LMoV and CMV 15.8% in 2018. The incidence of PlAMV was observed to be 82.0% in 2015, 49.4% in 2016, 13.6% in 2017, and 39.5% in 2018 after the first occurrence of PlAMV in 2013. No symptoms were observed for single infection with LSV. However, in the case of mixed infection with LSV and LMoV, mosaic and leaf malformation symptoms appeared. With mixed infection with LSV and CMV, pale brown necrotic spots appeared, and mosaic and leaf curling were induced. PlAMV was more common in mixed infection than in single infection, and caused necrosis following the development of reddish-brown spots. PlAMV significantly decreased the marketability of lilies owing to the generation of leaf anomalies and curls, and its symptoms were more severe in mixed infections.

Water quality management of Jeiu Harbor using material cycle model(I) - The Variation of Physical Oceanographic Environments in Jeiu Harbor - (물질순환모델을 이용한 제주항의 수질관리(I) - 제주항의 물리해양환경의 변화 -)

  • In order to control of water quality in Jeju harbor, variation of physical oceanographic environments was estimated using material cycle model. It is composed of the three-dimensional hydrodynamic model for the simulation at water flow and material cycle model for the simulation of water quality. The three dimensional hydrodynamic model simulation of the circulation and mixing in Jeju Harbor has been conducted forced by Sanzi River Discharge, Tidal elevation, wind and Solar heat in case of August and November, 2000 and February and May, 2001, respectively. The results of numerical model and observation show that the model can produce realistic results of current in the harbor. The monthly variation of velocity pattern are not so much changed are found In Jeju Harbor. The residual current was forced by temperature, salinity, density, wind and tidal current. The residual current of August, 2000 are the strongest among four month. It can be explained that the density effect can be important role in residual current at Jeju Harbor. As the results of salinity distribution simulation, very low concentration of all levels were simulated in August, 2000. The flowrate of Sanzi river was investigated 77,760 ㎥ /d in August, 2000. Therefore, pollutant loadings from Sanzi river should be considered for water quality management in Jeiu harbor.

  • The aim of this study was to identify the significant factors for deciding yacht marina harbor location, and to use them for policy decision of a yacht marina project of local government. For this purpose, 2 top factors, 11 sub-factors and 50 specific factors were determined through a theoretical review and specialist interviews. This was followed by a questionnaire survey given to residents of Jeju and yacht tourists within the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province only. The results showed that marine safety is significant and the development must be made for local economic growth and by the participation of local residents.

  • In diverse professional fields including information and communication field, there is huge gap between required practical ability in industrial and that of graduated students actually learn in university. In this paper, we propose collaborative project curriculum applied to project-based learning in order to train affordable specialists who have a systematic problem-solving ability in industrial site. Applying this curriculum to The Cultural Technology Education Center of Jeju National University, we confirm that our curriculum improves ability of students to perform team project systematically such as skills in paper writing, presentation speech, problem solving, and collaborative work. Students are also reported high satisfaction about the proposed curriculum. Therefore, we expect that our curriculum will successfully be applied to other fields.
