The relationship between physical fitness factors and academic achievement of high school students in Korea (한국고등학생의 체력요인과 국가수준의 학업성취도의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between physical fitness factors and academic achievement among high school students. As a research method, cardiopulmonary endurance, flexibility, muscular strength, muscular endurance, quickness, BMI index, and academic achievement of high school students were measured for 641 male and female high school students in 2014 and 2017. The results of this study show that cardiopulmonary endurance is correlated with cardiopulmonary endurance factors (p<0.05), cardiopulmonary endurance is correlated with flexibility and quickness (p<0.05), and flexibility is correlated with academic achievement (p<0.01). Muscle strength was correlated with quickness and body fat (p<0.05), and muscle endurance was correlated with muscle strength, quickness, and BMI (p<0.05), and correlation between quickness (p<0.01), and there was a correlation between academic achievement (p<0.01). The conclusion of this study is that developing and implementing a more effective physical fitness program can contribute to the academic achievement and physical fitness of domestic high school students because various physical activities have a positive relationship with academic achievement in addition to physical fitness.

Sight disabled persons' long jump average recording (121.84cm) showing normal persons' average recording (259.27cm) and much differences, show that motion of body is not big to Touch-down from Ready action. 2. Each phase body center composition(r) average speed displayed result that it is more meaning more than Each phase time required. 3. Began in line carriage without body back stretching in 1 situation on Event one are sight disabled persons. Was expose that do not bend enough knee and ankle than normal person in Event two. Was expose that body is not drooped for surface of land in Event three, and knee and ankle were expose that do not unfold easily than normal person. Was expose that do not bend enough on Touch-down knee by relation that can not grasp position of the floor in Event four. 4. When taking off, the average of horizontal speed of body center are 1.80m/sec for blind people and 3.53m/sec for the normal. In this connection, the study shows that the difference of horizontal speed between the blind and the normal is bigger than difference of vertical speed, which are 1.56m/sec for the blind and 1.98m/sec for the normal. Also, composite speed also shows us big difference between 2.41m/sec of the blind and 4.07m/sec of the normal. The speed body center of take-off was expose that average adjuster are big width of deceleration than average - beginning disabled person's average by 2.23m/sec - 1.71m/sec in the vertical speed. 5. Effect of Volleyball Program on Physical Fitness and Attention Concentration of Middle School Students with Intellectual Disabilities (배구 프로그램이 중학교 지적장애학생의 체력과 주의집중력에 미치는 효과)

  • The study aims to verify the effects of volleyball programs on the fitness and attention-intensive abilities of students with intellectual disabilities in middle school. Physical strength and attention concentration were analyzed to verify the effectiveness of the volleyball program. The volleyball program was applied to the experimental group three times a week, 90 minutes a week, a total of 36 times for 12 weeks. To verify the effectiveness of physical strength and attention concentration, the PPS-D intellectual disability student test and ATA concentration test were used to verify the effectiveness of attention concentration The six-minute walking figure related to cardiopulmonary functions was improved compared to those with intellectual disabilities who did not participate in the volleyball program, the report showed. We can see improvements in muscular function-related sit-ups and flexibility-related sit-ups compared to those with intellectual disabilities who did not participate, and significant changes have been seen in the distance of the place-wide jump related to net worth. We could also confirm that it had a positive effect on the improvement of selective attention concentration, and that the change in self-control, continuous attention, and selective attention among middle school students had a positive effect on the improvement.

The Differential Effects of Plyometric Training and Weight Training on Muscular Power, Agility and Maximal Muscular Strength of the Male and Female High-school Throwers (고등학교 투척선수들의 plyometric training과 weight training이 순발력, 민첩성 및 최대 근력에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this research was to investigate how the plyometric training and weight training program, applied in the field for exercise performance of throwing players, influenced improvement of athletic abilities, including agility, maximum muscular power, and strength. After implementing plyometric training and weight training to 21 high school throwing players for 10 weeks, we designed the next step. The 21 subjects were divided into two groups - women's group and men's group. All subjects were tested to determine agility using sidestep, burpee test, reaction time, lower body power and strength using standing long jump, standing jump, 30 m running, squats and leg presses. Additionally, isokinetic strength was measured using Cybex isokinetic dynamometer. The results showed that both groups demonstrated improvement in the standing long jump, standing jump and 30 m running after training. Particularly, the women's group indicated better improvement. Second, women's groups showed higher improvement in the sidestep and burpee test. However, in the reaction time test, the men's group indicated better improvement. Third, both groups showed better improvement in squats and leg presses after training. Particularly, the women's group indicated better improvement. Fourth, in the left and right side extension torque and flexion torque at a velocity of $60^{\circ}$/sec, both groups showed better improvement after training. In the left side extension peak torque, the men's group showed higher improvement, but the women's group showed higher improvement in the left side flexion and extension peak torque. Fifth, both groups showed better improvement in bench pressing and back strength after training. Particularly, the women's group indicated higher improvement.

Validation of the Developed Evaluation Method for Competition Intelligence of Sport Talented Children (체육영재의 영재성 평가도구에 대한 타당도 검증)

  • The purpose of this study was to verify the validity of the developed evaluation method for competition intelligence of sport talented children of of Kim et al.(2015). For this purpose, total 3 times of observation by sports leaders were accomplished for evaluation of competition intelligence. After finishing final observation, the correlation between the sub-factors(practice intelligence, learning intelligence, and training intelligence) and gifted students' physical fitness and KOSTASS were examined. First, as the reliability, the correlations between leaders' observation results were significantly higher than 0.8 in all sub-factors. Second, all sub-factors of competition intelligence showed significant positive correlation with in standing jump, 50m dash and side step test improvement(p<.05). Third, all sub-factors showed no significant correlation with KOSTASS(p>.05). These results showed that the evaluation tool by Kim et al.(2015) didn't not fully reflect the improvement level of basic physical fitness factors of the gifted students. However, the results of correlation between physical fitness factors requiring technical learning process showed that the gymnastic gauging tools included learning process and task acquisition level.

A Meta-Analysis on Improvement in Locomotor Skills of Children with Disabilities by Physical Activity Programs (신체활동 프로그램 참여가 장애아동의 이동운동능력에 미치는 효과: 메타분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify improvement in locomotor skills by physical activity programs. Method of this study indicates that the current literature (2004-2015) were reviewed and the data from 24 studies with 518 disabled children were analyzed by using CMA3 (Comprehensive Meta-Analysis ver.3) program. Analyzing the data of the primary studies included gender, age, type of disabilities, duration of the physical activity program intervention(weeks, session per week, minutes per session), run, gallop, hop, leap, horizontal jump, and slide. For sensitivity analysis, publication bias and outlier were reviewed. Results of analysis indicates that the overall effect size of improvement in locomotor skills by physical activity programs was 1.143. There were large effect size in categorical analyses. Autistic spectrum among type of disabilities was 1.697 and run among 6 of locomotor skills was 1.019. 8~10 aged was 0.920 and the intervention of 100~120minutes(1.261)per session, 3sessions(1.078) per week, 16~20(1.587)weeks was found to be more larger than the others. In conclusion, improvement in locomotor skills by program participation showed that treated group was 37% more effective than control group.

The Effect of Inline Skate Program on Physical Fitness(PAPS-D) Improvement of Student with Developmental Disability (인라인스케이트 프로그램이 발달장애 학생들의 건강체력(PAPS-D) 향상에 미치는 효과)

  • This study is aimed to find out the effect of PAPS-D on physical fitness of developmental disabled students who participated of Inline skate program. The subject of this study was 10 middle and high school students diagnosed as developmental disability. The subject attended a total of 32 classes twice a week for 16 weeks and the class was 1 hour each time. Improvement of physical fitness was assessed based on PAPS-D program developed by the Department of Education science in 2016 except for obesity measurement; cardio pulmonary function (walking in 6 minutes), flexibility (seated forward bend, clasped hand behind the back), muscle function (sit-up) and agility (standing long jump). To find out the interaction between control group and experimental group, two-way repeated measure ANOVA was used. As a result, there was a statistically significant relation in cardio pulmonary function and agility but not in flexibility and muscle function. 3 variables (cardio pulmonary function, flexibility and muscle function) among 4 variables showed positive effect of Inline skate program on physical fitness while one variable which was agility showed decreased result in post-test. Based on the results of three variables that were found to have improved in the pre post-examination, the result of this study indicates positive effect of Inline skating program on physical fitness of developmentally disabled students.

  • Purpose: This study was to examine the differences in muscle activities for some muscles of the legs used in a broad jump after applying tape to healthy people. The purpose of this study was to improve the exercising ability of patients and athletes during the rehabilitation training. Design: Randomized Controlled Trial. Methods: The experimental group was attached with the Kinesio tape on Rectus femoris, Biceps femoris and Gastrocnemius. Before doing broad jumping, they had stretching with the following order. And we measured broad jumps five times. We gave the rest period between trials. After every trial was measured, they were performed to cool-down exercise with the same way of warm-up exercise. And the control group did the same exercises as the experimental group except for attaching the Kinesio tape on muscles. Results: The results of Rectus femoris, Biceps femoris and Gastrocnemius activities according to tape application of femoris muscle were significantly increased (p<.05) compared to untreated group. Conclusion: Therefore, Kinesio tape has an effect on the improvement of the broad jump recorded by affecting the increase in muscle activities.

A Comparison of Physical Fitness of High School Ssirum Elite-players According to Their Weight Class (고등부 씨름선수의 체급별 기초·전문체력 비교분석)

  • This study was conducted from November 25 to December 4, 2019, to unmask differences in physical fitness based on the weight class of high school Ssirum elite-players. A total of 28 high school Ssirum elite-players were compared and analyzed by measuring physical factors (muscle strength/power, agility, anaerobic power, aerobic ability, flexibility, and isokinetic muscle function) by weight class. Data were analyzed using SPSS ver. 23.0. One-way ANOVA was used for comparison between groups. There was no difference by weight class in terms of grip strength, sit-ups, sergeant jump, long jump, flexibility, side step, and reaction time. Evaluation of back muscle strength revealed that the group with more than 100 kg had greater strength than lower weight categories, whereas it was lower in the sit-ups, 20 m shuttle run and the relative values anaerobic power. Considering isokinetic muscle function, no difference was observed between the groups of back muscle strength and knee joint. The results of this study indicate that amongst the high school Ssirum elite-players, there is no difference in muscle power, flexibility, agility, and anaerobic average power per body weight, isokinetic trunk strength, and knee flexion strength, when evaluated according to weight class.

The Effects of 12-Week Training for the Physical Fitness and Cardiovascular Factors to Examine Physical Fitness on Firefighters Test-Taker (소방공무원 수험생의 체력검정을 위한 12주간 훈련이 체력요인, 심혈관계요인에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of 12-week training on changes in physical fitness and cardiovascular factors for firefighters. For this purpose, 40 men in their 20s and 30s who agreed to participate voluntarily were recruited. They were divided into four groups: the firefighters' physical fitness test training group (hereinafter referred to as PT group), firefighters' physical fitness test and aerobic training group (hereinafter referred to as PT+AR group), firefighters' physical fitness test and both aerobic and anaerobic training group (hereinafter referred to as PT+CO group). Physical fitness factors (grip strength, back muscle strength, seated forward bend, standing long jump, sit-ups, 20-meter shuttle run), cardiovascular factors (total cholesterol, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, glucose, waist circumference, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure) and the relationship between Framingham Heart Risk Score and physical/cardiovascular factors were compared and analyzed, and the following conclusions were obtained. Aerobic training, anaerobic training, and combined training, including 12 weeks of firefighter physical examinations, all had positive effects on fitness and cardiovascular factors, which would be an appropriate way for firefighter examinees to improve physical strength and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.
