  • Readout circuit is to convert signal occurred in a defector into suitable signal for image signal processing. In general, it has to possess functions of impedance matching with perception element, amplification, noise reduction and cell selection. It also should satisfies conditions of low-power, low-noise, linearity, uniformity, dynamic range, excellent frequency-response characteristic, and so on. The technical issues in developing image processing equipment for focal plane way (FPA) can be categorized as follow: First, ultraviolet (UV) my detector material and fine processing technology. Second, ReadOut IC (ROIC) design technology to process electric signal from detector. Last, package technology for hybrid bonding between detector and ROIC. ROIC enables intelligence and multi-function of image equipment. It is a core component for high value added commercialization ultimately. Especially, in development of high-resolution image equipment ROIC, it is necessary that high-integrated and low-power circuit design technology satisfied with design specifications such as detector characteristic, signal dynamic range, readout rate, noise characteristic, ceil pitch, power consumption and so on. In this paper, we implemented a $8\times8$ FPA prototype ROIC for reduction of period and cost. We tested unit block and overall functions of designed $8\times8$ FPA ROIC. Also, we manufactured ROIC control and image boards, and then were able to verify operation of ROIC by confirming detected image from PC's monitor through UART(Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter) communication.

  • The high pressure pump of a diesel injection system compresses the fuel supplied at low pressure into high pressure fuel and maintains the fuel of the common rail at the required pressure level according to the engine operating conditions. The high pressure pump is required to operate normally in order to compress the fuel to a high pressure of 2000 bar during the entire lifetime of the vehicle. Consequently, a suitable design technique, material durability and high precision machining are required. In this study, the high pressure pump simulation model of a 1-plunger radial piston pump is modelled by using the AMESim code. The main simulation parameters are the displacement, flow rate and pressure characteristics of the inlet and outlet valves, cam torque characteristics, and operating characteristics of the fuel metering valve and overflow valve. In addition, the operating characteristics of the pump are simulated according to the parameter changes of the hole diameter and the spring initial force of the inlet valve. The simulation results show that the operation of the developed pump model is logically valid. This paper also proposes a simulation model that can be used for current pump design changes and new pump designs.

  • In the synthesis of the current source distribution function of an array antenna with the arbitrary radiation pattern, the Woodward-Lawson sampling method has been mainly used for the synthesis of an even function lobe pattern. In this paper, the method is extended to the synthesis of the odd function pattern and then the optimum synthesis method for the nonlinear source distribution function is proposed. The proposed method is applied to the design of nonuniform transmission lines with arbitrary reflection responses. The both dispersive impedance profiles of single and coupled nonuniform lines with arbitrary reflection responses are directly synthesized by the sampled values of a reflected spectral pattern which is optimally shaped by a perturbation of its complex null positions, hence removing the conventional step-by-step segmentation process and global optimization routines. The control problem in the case that all of port impedances are identical is also solved. The generality of the proposed method is verified by a filter design with the controlled arbitrary passband

  • The periodic domain-inversion in the selective areas of $Ti:LiNbO_3$ Mach-Zender waveguides was performed and band-pass modulators and single sideband (SSB) modulators were fabricated by using domain-reversal. The domain wall velocity was precisely controlled by real-time analysis of a poling-induced response current under an applied voltage. The domain wall velocity was significantly affected by the crystal orientation of the domain wall propagation which influenced the final domain geometry. In a certain case, the decomposition of $LiNbO_3$ crystal was observed, for example, under the condition of too fast domain wall propagation. The fabricated band-pass modulator with a periodic domain-inversion structure showed the maximum modulation efficiency at 30.3 GHz with 5.1 GHz 3dB-bandwidth, and SSB modulator was measured to show 33 dB USB suppression over LSB at 5.8 GHz RF.

  • To optimize and limit the axial length of the baffle of the KSR-III engine, stability rating tests using pulse gun as one of artificial disturbance devices have been done. Generally a rocket engine can be considered to be dynamically stable if a certain imposed external perturbation or pressure oscillation in rocket combustion chamber could be suppressed within a short time period. Decay time and other parameters for the evaluation of stabilization ability of an engine to external perturbation have been analyzed to quantify stabilization capacity of engine, in other words, dynamic stability margin. Baffle not covering flame zone enough which can be considered as collision region of injector wasn't be able to suppress external perturbation sufficiently. The limit of combustion stability margin of engine is assumed to be 50 mm length baffle of the KSR-III engine.

  • This paper introduced the RAR(Reinforced Abutment for Railroads) to reduce settlement of transitional zone and horizontal displacement of abutment by constructing backfill before abutment. We expect that it has more economical and better performance which was validated by numerical analyses. First, transitional zone settlements and horizontal displacements of existing abutment were evaluated for various heights and ground conditions by using finite element analysis program. Then, numerical analyses of it under the same conditions were performed and its results were compared with existing abutment's ones. From the numerical analysis, we found that the responses(settlement and horizontal displacement) of transitional zone of the RAR is about 20% and 34% of one of existing abutment due to the effect of backfill stabilizing. We expected that the RAR having small foundations could be economic way to construct abutment with the control of responses such as, settlement, horizontal displacement, and earth pressure.

  • An investigation on psychophysiological health and social well-being of shift workers been carried out on workers of a automobile manufacturing plant in Ulsan, for 1 month from April, 1993. This cross-sectional survey compared shift workers(n=544) with day workers(n=115). Each subject completed a questionnaire about his personal habit, background, shift schedule, sleep and eating patterns, subjective digestive symptom and psychological well-being and distress using the General Well-Being Schedule(GWB) by self administrated questionnaire that was developed for the U.S. Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys (HANES I). Chi-square analysis was used for discontinuous data and the t-test was used for continous data to determine whether differences noted between the two groups. In terms of sleep quality, a greater percentage of shift workers frequently had trouble getting back to sleep once awakend(p<0.01), and a greater percentage of shift workers awakend tired or sleepy frequently more often than day workers(p<0.05). In rating the quality of their sleep, more shift workers rated their sleep fair to poor than day workers, and greater percentage of shift workers felt tired or sleepy at work two or more times per week(p<0.01) and a much higher percentage of shift workers felt tired or sleepy after work every days(p<0.01). In terms of sleep patterns, a much higher percentage of day workers reported uninterrupted sleep per 24hours than shift workers. The shift workers reported different eating patterns from day workers but there were no statistically significant and rate of their appetite. Thirteen percent of day workers reported the best appetite but only 6.6% of shift workers had the best appetite. The gastric complaints is more frequent in shift workers than day workers(p<0.01). Among subscores in General Well-Being Schedule, anxiety, depression, positive well-being and vitality subscale of shift workers were lower than those of day workers(p<0.05) and general health and self control subscale of shift workers were lower than .those of day workers but there were no statistical significant difference. Based on these study result, it could be concluded that the shift work has significant effects on some psychophysiological conditions of the workers.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest functional priority to increase probability to be adopted by single-person household by designating single-person household as potential early adopter of smart home service. Smart home service is spread slowly for its value. This study applied diffusion of innovations theory to solve this problem. Single-person household who has no other family member who can take care of household is chosen as potential early adopter. This study tried to find grounds of functional priorities through an online survey. The survey questionnaires were composed as following. First, representative attributes of single- person household were reviewed, then measuring questions according to the attributes were recomposed based upon preceding study. After that, concept and status of smart home service were reviewed. and smart home service functions to be measured in this study were selected through analysis based upon representative cases, then Measuring questionnaire were made were three factors which chosen by referring to preceding study about perceived attributes of innovations applied to selected functions. As a result of analyzed 62 responses, except excluded functions which has perceived any special value, set priorites with 9 functions. These functional priorities obtained from these studies will play a role as fundamental data to provide valuable service to single-person household and have a meaning as a starting point to increase rate of adoption for smart home service.

  • Acoustic behavior in combustion chamber with acoustoc cavity is numerically investigated by adopting linear acoustic analysis. Helmholtz-type resonator is employed as a cavity model to suppress acoustic instability passively. The tuning frequency of acoustic cavity is adjusted by varying the sound speed in acoustic cavity. Through harmonic analysis, acoustic pressure responses of chamber to acoustic oscillating excitation are shown and the resonant acoustic modes are identified. Acoustic damping effect of acoustic cavity is quantified by damping factor. As the tuning frequency approaches the target frequency of the resonant mode to be suppressed, mode split from the original resonant mode to lower and upper modes appears and thereby damping effect is degraded significantly. Considering mode split and damping effect as a function of tuning frequency, it is desirable to make acoustic cavity tuned to maximum frequency of those of the possible splitted upper modes.
