Isolated fractures of lower sacrum are commonly treated conservatively in most cases because of low energy damage and stable fracture. However, surgical treatment is required in displaced unstable fracture. But the surgical technique is not established and even case reports are not common. We reported a case of displaced transverse fracture of the lower sacrum that was treated with an open reduction and dual plate fixation.

Unstable pelvis ring trauma can accompany urologic injuries such as bladder, ureter, or urethral injuries. In very rare cases, testicular dislocation can accompany a pelvic ring injury. Testicular dislocation causes pain, but can be regarded as the pain caused by pelvic ring injury. If not detected early, testicular dislocation may result in gangrenous testes. The authors report a case of pelvic ring injury with testicular dislocation.

A diagnosis of gout is often straightforward because gout has well known clinical presentations, laboratory analyses, and radiologic features. On the other hand, gout can mimic other diseases by showing a range of atypical clinical manifestations. This paper reports a 35-year-old male with no prior history of gout who developed tophaceous gout at his previously repaired Achilles tendon 11 years after surgery. He was initially misdiagnosed with cellulitis because of his atypical clinical features. This case is presented with a review of the relevant literature.

Acupuncture, which is a procedure of inserting needles in a specific portion of the body to control pain, is conducted widely. The procedure is considered relatively safe because of its minimal side effects and low occurrence (1 in 200,000). On the other hand, its side effects include neurological damage, infection, hematoma, emphysema, etc. The authors report a case of cervical neurological damage that occurred after an acupuncture procedure.

Hemarthrosis occurring after arthroscopic surgery for lesions of the shoulder joint is a very rare complication that can develop due to an injury to the blood vessels when an anterior portal is formed. This is a complication that rarely develops in patients who are taking antithrombotic drugs or who do not have associated diseases, such as thrombocytopenia. We report a case of hemarthrosis that occurred after performing arthroscopic surgery to repair a rotator cuff tear in a patient with a stenosis in an arteriovenous fistula for hemodialysis in the ipsilateral upper arm.

This case report describes the unusual occurrence of a flexor digitorum profundus avulsion secondary to an enchondroma of the distal phalanx of the middle finger. The enchondroma was treated by simple curettage with an autogenous bone graft harvested from the olecranon. The avulsed bone fragment was reattached to the distal phalanx using the pull-out suture technique. Bony union and full function of the digit were achieved.

The shoulder pain is one of the most common problems to orthopaedic surgeons in clinic. Among therapeutic modality used to manage this pain, joint and periarticular injection, as well as suprascapular nerve block, show good clinical outcome. Ultrasound guidance is a safe technique, increasing the safety and accuracy of the procedure and reducing complications. An accurate understanding of the surface anatomy is important in performing the ultrasound-guided shoulder injections. This article aims to describe the surface anatomy and sono anatomy of both the shoulder and the surrounding structures and also summarize different infiltration techniques and peripheral nerve blocks.

The treatment of a brachymetacarpia using conventional distraction osteogenesis requires holding an external fixator following distraction for stability, which causes prolonged discomfort that adversely affects the patient's daily activities. This paper reports a case of a 20-year-old male of brachymetacarpia treated with distraction osteogenesis combined with a plate reducing the period of an external fixator, allowing rapid return to the daily activities, and presenting good clinical results.

Posterior root tear of the medial meniscus are well known. Although very rare, there are reports of anterior root tears of the medial meniscus but no reports on traumatic bony avulsion of the anterior medial meniscus root. This paper reports a case of an isolated bony avulsion of the anterior medial meniscus root, which was successfully repaired arthroscopically.

An increasing number of reverse total shoulder arthroplasty procedures has been performed since its introduction to South Korea in 2007. This review discusses the biomechanical rationale behind the development of reverse total shoulder arthroplasty and its outcomes over time. In addition, this paper mentions ways to minimize the risk of complications that may occur and how to manage those complications.
