This study explores how the media covered the new media agenda in the process of the diffusion of new media and what the press's attitude about new media policy is according to the relationship between the press and the government based on the political tendency. For this, this study conducted network analysis. The agreement of political tendency between the press and the government is important variable to decide the attitude of the press about the new media policy. Under the conservative government, the conservative press supported the new media policy, however the opposite opposed it Even if opinion page can take an important role in the process of public opinion, the tone pf editorial page on the new media policy differs from its political tendency. It costs tremendous investment in introducing new media, journalists have judge.

This study examines the effect of social conservative values that have risen as an important factor in American politics. Focusing on the abortion issue, it discusses how the abortion issue has affected American voters' issue and party preferences and their ideological orientations. The empirical results demonstrate that the abortion issue has contributed to reinforce the existing ideological and partisan divisions, although it has not realigned them. As a consequence, the abortion issue has become a significant determinant for vote choice since 1980s. Particularly in 1990s, when the polarization among the political elites became clear, the political effect of the abortion issue appears to be more evident.

지난여름 베트남 남부의 호치민시와 인근의 공장지대는 전례 없는 파업의 확산을 경험했다. 연구자가 만난 한국기업의 매니저들은 이를 "파업의 도미노 현상"으로 묘사했다. 호치민시 노동조합의 고위간부는 "도이머이(Doi Moi) 이후 노사관계에 가장 혼란스러운 변화가 일어나고 있다"라고 단언하기도 했다. 본 연구는 한국계 다국적 공장을 사례로 1) 최근 파업의 정치경제학적 배경은 무엇인지를 살펴본 다음, 2) 왜 어떤 공장은 최근의 파업의 소용돌이 속에서 상대적으로 안전했던 반면 다른 기업은 그렇지 못했는지, 3) 왜 어떤 공장은 파업의 과정에서 협상을 성공적으로 이끈 반면 다른 기업은 그렇지 못했는지, 4) 최근의 파업이 개별 다국적 공장의 체제에 어떤 사회적, 문화적, 정치적 영향을 미쳤는지 살펴보고자 하였다. 연구자는 연구목적을 위하여 호치민 인근과 동나이에 위치한 약 20여개의 공장을 방문하였으며 서로 다른 특징을 가지고 있는 3개의 섬유공장을 선별하여 현지연구를 실시하였다. 이 가운데 첫 번째 공장은 연구자가 90년대 말 현지연구를 실시하여 공장체제의 성격을 잘 알고 있는 다국적 공장이었다. 나머지 두 공장은 재정 상황과 정치과정의 특징이 첫 번째 공장과 대조될 뿐 아니라 서로 다른 공장이었다. 세 공장을 비교 연구함으로써 연구자는 다국적 공장의 재정적 혹은 경제적 상태가 노동쟁의의 성격을 만드는 주요한 조건이 되지만, 회사의 경제적 조건이 양호하고 경영진이 온정주의적 철학을 실천하고 있다고 해서 파업을 미연에 방지할 수 없다는 점을 보여주고자 하였다. 호치민 인근의 파업이 크게는 세계적인 경제위기, 작게는 회사의 재정상태에 영향을 받고 있지만 특정 공장에서 노동쟁의가 일어나는가의 여부는 이 공장의 정치과정과 레짐의 성격에 의해 좌우된다는 점을 밝히고자 했다. 특히 다국적 공장의 정치과정의 안정을 위해서는 '매개자' 역할을 하는 베트남 중간간부, 사무실 직원, 노조간부 등의 역할이 매우 중요하였다. 이들이 위계적으로 그리고 사회문화적으로 다른 외국인 경영진과 공장 노동자의 갈등을 어떻게 흡수하고 중재하는가에 따라 공장체제의 안정 여부가 달려 있었다. 이번 파업은 각각 다른 정치경제적 조건을 가진 여러 공장의 경영진과 노동자가 이러한 사실을 새삼 깨닫게 하는 계기로 작용했다.

This study investigated the main effect and interaction effect of independent variables such as news fatigue, political sophistication, knowledge system of news, and news view on reflective news use and partisan news use. This study employed multiple regression analysis and Two way ANOVA. The positive relationship between news fatigue and critical news use strategies was found. Exploring the factors to news processing strategies, the study suggested the potential direction of news education.

Studies on the SNS political participation have covered issues of SNS effect on political participation, electoral campaigns, and the public sphere. Such issues as characteristics of SNS political participation, the characteristics of SNS users, SNS effect on the political participation, active SNS political participants, and the impact on young people's political participation, etc. have been studied in the area of political participation effect. On the election issues, SNS impact on election turnout, voting behavior, and the election results were main research topics. Finally, the research on the public sphere mainly discussed topics of quality of SNS information and social fragmentation phenomenon. What is commonly observed across all the three subjects is that the conflicting claims appear to almost all the topics. These contradictory findings are likely to occur because variables of real politics are not fully taken into account and research variables are not strictly manipulated. We can get more accurate research results in the study of SNS political participation when we conduct cross-national research reflecting the context of real politics and also designing independent variables more in detail and elaborately.

Based on the theory of media governance, we analyzed the factors affecting the KBS system and the perception of the improvement of corporate governance, and suggested ways to improve the governance structure. The results of the study are as follows. First, the factors affecting the KBS system are politics, followed by the public broadcasting itself, that is, professionalism. Political factors were found to be the most influential factors in the public broadcasting KBS Institution. Second, the KBS governance structure, like the BBC, preferred a political independent model, while the board composition and proportions favored a German-style union model involving various stakeholders outside the political circle. Third, the future - oriented KBS governance model requires a change in the civil society (public) sphere that is deviated from the influence of politics and market. In the end, in order for the public broadcasting KBS system to operate stably, the political influence should be reduced, and the role of the government and the market should be controlled by the growth of the public sphere (civil society).

2012년 인쇄문화산업은 어느 해보다 국내외적인 경기의 향방에 따라 큰 영향을 받을 것으로 보인다. 국제적으로는 유로권의 재정 및 금융위기가 어느 방향으로 진전되느냐에 따라서 큰 영향을 받을 것으로 보이며 국내적으로는 4월 국회의원 총선거, 12월 대통령 선거가 치러지기 때문에 정치적인 상황에 따라 영향을 많이 받는 한해가 될 것으로 보인다. 또한 지난해 연말 급작스러운 북한 김정일 국방위원장의 사망으로 인한 북한 리스크도 어느해보다 큰 한해가 될 전망이다.

This study purports to explore potential determinants of welfare attitudes toward universalism vs selectivism. For this purpose, literature review upon such subjects as definitions of universalism and selectivism and welfare attitudes has been done. The hierarchical regression analyses show several major results. First and foremost, the effects of those variables such as political orientation and attitudes toward free education and gratuitous child care, categorized as political-social stance were found to be significant. However, it was unexpected results that those variables which have been found signigicant in predicting welfare attitudes in previous literature, that is to say age, education and economic status especially were not to be found significant in predicting welfare attitudes toward universalism vs selectivism. There could be many underlying causes for this result including measurement errors, and this study strongly speculates that the division between universalism vs selectivism itself exists only both in purely conceptual level and in political rhetoric and therefore, universalism or selectivism as people's consistent and logical attitudes or consciousness may simply not exist at all.
