New Changes and Tasks of the Science Museum: Focusing on its relation to PUS (과학(박물)관의 새로운 변화와 우리의 과제: PUS와의 관련성을 중심으로)

  • While science museums, whose functions consist traditionally in collecting, preserving, researching, and displaying science-related objects, present scientific knowledge, figures, or tools in the historical context, science centers give more emphases on science education by exposing interactive exhibits to their visitors. However, neither objects-oriented exhibits nor hands-on technologies can provide museum visitors with the full insight into modem science in terms of its complicated relationships to politics, economy, culture, art, risk, and environment. This paper argues that for the 21st century we need to establish a new kind of science museum through the critical examination of its previous kinds - science museums and science centers. In the first part of this paper, the history of the first and second generations of science museums, including their recent trends in science centers, in the West will be elaborated. Secondly, the development of national science museums in Korea will be discussed specifically for the understanding of Korean science museums. The next part of this paper will seek for the possibilities of the third generation of science museums through three examples, which show interdisciplinary, contextual, and institutional approaches to change science museums or science centers. Fourthly, the social function of science museums as 'forum' will be discussed in relation to promoting public 'participation' of science as well as public 'understanding' of science. As a conclusion, some practical suggestions and conceptual guidelines will be proposed for the future Korean national science museum.

  • For nursing as a science to establish a unique system of knowledge, nursing researchers should include the philosophical activities such as establish of nursing philosophy. For establish of philosophy nursing, the nature and realms and essential characteristics of nursing science should be made clear at first. The purpose of this study identify alienation and the situation of happen to alienation and Martin Buber Philosophy(I and Thou). Understanding of this concept should enlighten nurses to interaction and relationship problems between patients and nurse and thus lead to further toward enhancing these interaction and relationship. The alienation was serious problem in present society which was cultural, political, economical, mechanical, religious classified. The overcome of alienation in nursing situation was caring and interpersonal relationship based on Martin Buber philosophy. The essential philosophy of Martin Buber was "I and Thou" relationship. I and Thou relationship are consist of five characteristics ; 1)mutuality 2)directness 3)presentness 4)intensity 5)ineffability As health care technology becomes more sophisticated, there is a tendency to rely on monitors and machines to assess the patient's status. Therefore focus on the functioning and care of machine can result in less meaningful communication with patients. This study points to the need for health professional and patient relationship based on Martin Buber philosophy(I and Thou). This relationship may suggest that professional shoud have sincerity, concerning, respect and warm emotional toward their patients. Ultimately this study provide the basic information to contribute understanding of "I and Thou" relationship and nursing philosophy development in nursing education.

Workfare in the United Kingdom : A Study on New Deal under the New Labour Government (영국의 근로연계복지에 관한 평가 : 신노동당 정부의 New Deal을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the performance of New Deal under the New Labour government in Britain and examines the nature of New Deal with respect to workfare. The time difference of five years after the New Deal was put into effect shows that New Deal has contributed not only to include the socially excluded groups such as the young unemployed, the long-term unemployed, single parents, and the disabled into the labour market, but also to decrease the amount of income-based benefits providing for working generation. It can be said that the nature of New Deal under the New Labour is near to human capital development model rather than labour force attachment model. New Deal provides the opportunity of policy learning for the countries which pursue the reform of social security system to moving welfare beneficiaries being able to work into jobs. Policy learning can be summed up as follows. First, imposing mutual responsibility and obligations on unemployed person should be accompanied by implementing active labour market programmes of education and job training. Second, the delivery system which administrates workfare programmes should be decentralized in a local society. The cooperation between local government and enterprisers will be critical in implementing various employment programmes and moving unemployed person into jobs. Third, the case management for individual participating in workfare programme is necessary. The personal adviser should continue to provide employment services for the unemployed until he or she get a job and enter the state of self-reliance. Finally, the workfare programme should be firmly backed by the political leadership in order to overcome the oppositions of beneficiary groups under the existing social security system.

Characteristics of Social Security Contained in Mecius's People-Care Theory(保民論) (맹자의 보민론(保民論)이 지닌 사회보장적 성격)

  • This paper aims to define Mecius's people-care theory(保民論), and aims to recognize the characteristics of social security contained in Mecius's people-care theory. Mecius considered to the public relief as King's obligation. So to speak, the King protects to the property of the people. Especially his people-care theory implicate to continuity of safety life, a relief fund on the property, protection of disaster damage. Continuity of safety life means to enabling the people procurable food, clothing and bury dead persons without difficulties. It's may be said that implicated to the theory and system of modern social-welfare. It is reason for his opinion that a state should construct in the minimum social safety network by taking responsibility for basis needs of life. He was a humanist so much. He thought about the pursuit of the human happiness and the improvement in quality of life. Therefore his idea nearly means to the social security system in a modern sense. His thought is not only an ideal background on the public assistance and a social relief security in the contemporary but also a relief activity system such as Jindaebup called historical prototype of social welfare. It is an important fact that his people-care theory implicate to social security system.

Music, Language, and Life in Daoism and Confucianism (음악과 언어, 그리고 삶 - 도가와 유가를 중심으로 -)

  • This essay is an analysis on Daoist deconstructivism and Confucian constructivism about music and language. (1) Daoist criticizes that the Confucian constructive music and language fail to describe original sounds and original facts of doing nothing (wuwei, 無爲). According to Daoist, music and language can be an instrument to describe true facts in the world. So Daoists try to attain a state of 'seeing things as things themselves (yiwuguanwu, 以物觀物)' by 'forgetting oneself (wangwo, 忘我).' (2) However Confucian music and language is a part of one's life. Confucians try to get truth, goodness, and beauty by exercising one's music and language. Confucian music is associated with political and moral development in society. The Confucian genres of poetry (shi, 詩), appealing letter (shu, 疏), declaring writing (biao, 表), record (ji, 記), and written words (ci, 詞) are processes of developing one's life. Further, Confucian rhetoric of 'Xing (興)' in writing poem shows that one's language can be developed in contexts of one's life. (3) Although music and language is associated with human subjective narratives as if Confucians say, diverse narratives of different subjectivity cannot appear in one's lives if all kinds of narrative is absorbed in Confucian absolute ideological slogan to devide things into good and bad. Accordingly, the Confucian view of music and language can develop diverse narratives when it does not show an inclination toward moral dichotomy preunderstood by Confucian ideology.

  • 국내 물관련 건설 및 설비 업체를 대상으로 하는 설문조사 및 인터뷰 결과 국내 물 관련 기업들의 해외진출 시 가장 큰 애로사항은 해외경험 직원의 부족으로 나타났다. 해외사업 확대를 위해서는 고부가가치 업무를 수행할 수 있는 고급기술자와 관리 인력의 양성이 시급하며, 특히 건설사업관리(CM, PM)나 설계/엔지니어링을 담당할 고급 기술 인력의 양성이 필요한 것으로 조사되었다. 경쟁력있는 글로벌 기술 관리 인력의 양성은 정부의 주도하에 기존의 물 관련 기관의 교육프로그램 통합 운영 및 내실있는 전문 수자원 대학원 운영 등 장기적인 정책적인 지원이 필수적이다. 또한 현재 해외 물시장 정보 수집의 활성화를 위하여 국토교통부, K-water, 해외건설협회 등이 연계한 물 산업 전담 정보시스템 구축과 중점 수출대상국 선정 후 대상국에 해외지부 운영 등이 필요할 것이다. 금융지원과 관련하여 해외건설 금융지원 강화를 위한 글로벌 인프라펀드 조성, 해외건설 보증한도 확대 등이 필요하며, 'EDCF 등 공적금융의 물산업 지원 확대 등 재정지원을 위한 정부의 적극적인 역할 역시 중요하다. 해외 물시장 진출을 위해서는 국내 물기업들의 역량을 결집하는 것이 필요하며, 이를 위해서는 효율적인 공공 민간 협의체의 설립 및 운영이 이루어져야 한다. 전 세계적으로 물 산업은 높은 공공성과 함께토탈 솔루션 역량이 중시되고 있으며, 이런 시장환경에 부응하여 네덜란드, 독일 등 물산업 수출 강국은 자국의 물관련 분야를 결집하는 워터 파트너십을 설립하여 국제사회에서 위상과 세계시장 점유율을 동시에 높여가고 있는 실정이다. 이들 국가 워터파트너십의 공통적인 설립 목적은 궁극적으로 자국 물 관련 산업, 국가 브랜드 및 이니셔티브와 관련되는 국제협력, 정책 분야 등의 결집이다. 다시 말해서 정부가 주축이 되어 관 산 학 연 기관간의 정보제공, 협력 등을 도모하고 있으며 이 네트워크의 구심점 역할 및 촉진은 자국의 워터파트너십이 맡고 있는 것이다. 해외 물 시장 확대를 도모하고 있는 우리나라도 국가차원의 장기적이고 지속적인 해외 물산업 네트워크 구축을 위해서는 정부-공기업-민간기업 등의 협력을 토대로 한 Korea Water Partnership을 조속히 설립하는 것이 필요하다. 이를 위해서는 국토부, 환경부 등 물 관련 부처는 물론 글로벌 네트워크를 구축하고 있는 외교부, 무역협회 등 유관기관의 정보 연계 및 협조 체계 역시 필요하다. 정부부처 차원의 조직은 국제 정치 아젠다(agenda)에 중대한 영향을 줄 수 있으며, 경쟁적 우위와 유사기관 간의 정보와 네트워킹의 공유를 보다 원활하게 할 수 있기 때문이다. Korea Water Partnership에서는 한국이 보유하고 있는 선진 수자원기술 및 경험을 해외에 소개하고, 정부 및 민간 기업들의 물 산업 수출역량을 적극적으로 피력할 수 있는 기회를 마련하며, 국제사회에서 물 강국으로서 한국의 위상을 높일 수 있는 홍보 마케팅 창구로서의 역할을 기대할 수 있을 것이다.

Critique of the Revitalization Trajectory of Bilbao (스페인 빌바오의 지역발전 재생 경로)

  • Bilbao, Spain, made a mark as a example of the regional revitalization by culture and tourism. Korean Government have a perspective that culture and tourism could be an alternative to the regional crisis of manufacturing in 2018. The main purpose of this study is to analyze the locational specificity and the revival strategies for the regional development of Bilbao in a structural context. This could provide implications to the regional crisis of Korea. The main results are summarized as follows. Firstly, the local government of Bilbao has taken an active role, using not only its political and financial autonomy but also its locational advantage as an important nodal region of transnational trade networks in Europe. Secondly, Bilbao was able to sustain its regional revitalization initiatives for a long period by facilitating public-private partnership system. Finally, despite the effectiveness of the mega project and place marketing, low job security and the polarization of the service sector have emerged as a problem at the same time. Still, the deindustrialization of Bilbao could be possible due to the various services including knowledge-based services and financial services as well as culture and tourism.

A View on In-house Subcontract Workers in Hyundai Motor Company (현대자동차 비정규직 문제를 바라보는 시각과 해결을 위한 제언)

  • This paper proposes to examine the relationship between the two trade unions of Hyundai Motor Company (HMC) - those of the regular workers and of the in-house subcontract workers - around the issue of converting irregular workers to regular ones, which has been a social issue for a long time, and, furthermore, to find a desirable solution. The politics of the in-house subcontracting rotate around three axes: the conflictive collusion between the company and the regular workers'union regarding the internal labor market; the exclusion and resistance between the company and the subcontract workers'union; and the solidaristic conflict relationship between the two unions. After the final decree by the supreme court in 2012 the conflict and collusion/solidarity relationship of the three social actors have been amplified in scale - the continuous limping of the special bargaining between the company and the unions, the intensified conflict between the company and the subcontract workers'union, and the crisis of the collusion between the branches of the two unions are all evidence of this. A clue to the solution to the issues of in-house subcontracting in HMC can be found through reestablishment of the relationship among the three actors. In order to solve the in-house subcontracting issues in HMC, phased and lawful switching from irregular to regular positions, improvement of working conditions for the irregular workers, integration of the two unions (realization of 'one company one union'), and negotiated flexibility in the internal labor market will be required. Also to be considered are installation of a special committee for the issue, and utilization of external consultants. The result would be the possibility for the corporate labor market of HMC to be composed of regular workers, legal contract workers and directly-employed contract workers, which could be realized through bilateral relations of 'the labor and management conflict partnership'.

A Study on Supervisor Satisfaction and Work-related Attitudes of Workers: Northern Thailand after the 2008 Global Financial Crisis (관리자 만족이 근로자의 직무관련 태도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 : 2008 국제금융위기 후 태국 북부의 근로자를 중심으로)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 2008년 후반에 발생한 국제금융위기에 대응하여 조직 개편을 선택한 기업과 그 기업 내의 근로자들 실태 파악을 하는데 있다. 특히 기업구조조정 명목으로 단행된 해고를 모면한 근로자들 (생존자)의 상태를 그들이 지각하는 각 개인의 관리자에 대한 만족도와 그들의 직무관련태도인 직무만족, 조직적 몰입 그리고 이직 의도 간의 관계 관점에서 살피고자 한다. 관리자에 대한 만족도는 근로자들의 직무 관련 태도 변수와 관련되어 사회적 선행변수로 선택되었으며 직무관련태도는 결과변수로 선택하였다. 본 연구를 통해 생존자들의 조직 내 직무관련태도에 관한 이해를 높이는데 필요한 정보를 표출해내어 그들의 실태를 파악하는데 하나의 목적을 두었으며 그들의 관리자와의 사회적 관계가 그들에게 미치는 영향을 파악하는 것이 또 하나의 목적이라 하겠다. 이상과 같은 관계 파악을 통해 얻은 정보로 관련기업이 단기적으로 성공적인 자립을 하여 장기적으로 경쟁력 있는 조직으로 성장할 수 있는 인적자원전략을 제공하는데 2차적인 목적을 두고 있다. 본 연구는 이상과 같은 목적을 달성하고자 그 유의성이 증명된 현존하는 설문을 활용한 조사기법을 채택하여 실증연구를 하였다. 수집한 자료는 SPSS 17.0과 LISREL 8.5을 사용하여 연구모형과 연구의 가설들을 검증하였다. 연구목적을 달성하고자 채택된 가설들은 기존의 문헌연구를 토대로 세워졌다. 연구대상은 태국 북부지역의 대표도시인 치앙마이 내 관광호텔 종사자들로서 외부적으로는 2008년 국제금융위기와 그에 따른 경제침체, 내부적으로는 극심한 정치적 사회적 불안에 의한 관광객의 급감소와 조직의 자구책으로 행해진 조직재구조 차원에서의 해고를 이겨낸 근로자들, 즉 생존자들이었다. 가설검증을 통해 입증된 연구결과에 의하면 1) 근로자들의 관리자에 대한 만족은 그들의 직무만족, 정서적 조직몰입과 지속적 조직몰입에 영향을 미치는 것으로 검증됐다. 2) 근로자들의 관리자에 대한 만족은 그들의 이직의도에는 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 검증됐다. 3) 근로자들의 직무만족은 그들의 이직의도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 검증되었다. 4) 근로자들의 조직적 몰입과 이직의도 간의 관계에 있어서는 오직 경제적 성격의 지속적 조직몰입만 영향을 미치는 것으로 검증되었다. 이러한 연구 결과는 기존의 타 연구 결과와 기본적인 맥락은 같게 나왔으나 근로자들의 정서적인 면의 부재는 2008년 후반 당시의 독특한 태국의 사회적, 경제적 그리고 문화적 실태를 보여주는 것이 아닌 가 사료된다. 특히 근로자들이 그들의 직장과의 관계와 관련된 의사결정을 가치가 아닌 경제적인 요소에 의존한다는 결과 그리고 상관인 관리자가 이러한 태도에 전혀 영향력을 미치지 못한다는 결과는 전통적으로 감성적이며 집단주의적인 동양적 문화가 지배하리라고 예상했던 태국에서는 이례적인 결과였다. 그러나 관리자들이 그들의 직무만족 그리고 조직적 몰입에 영향을 주며 직무만족이 이직 의도에 영향을 미친다는 결과와 지속적 조직몰입이 이직의도에 영향을 미친다는 결과는 장기적으로 적극적인 관리자 교육을 통해 근로자들을 조직에 정서적으로도 올바르게 안착시키고 긍정적인 구성원으로 존재하면서 조직에 기여할 수 있는 그들의 역할을 기대할 수 있다고 볼 수도 있다. 이 점은 매우 중요한데 그 이유는 해고를 이겨낸 근로자들은 그 조직이 미래를 짊어지는 마지막 기대변수이기 때문이다.

A Study on Bangsan Heo hun's(許薰) Essays in Classical Chinese (방산(舫山) 허훈(許薰)의 한문산문(漢文散文) 연구(硏究))

  • The present study examines Bangsanjib(舫山集, Collected Works of Bangsan) written by Heo Hun (許薰, pen name: Bangsan), a scholar of the late Joseon Dynasty. Chapter 2 reviews the author's life and his academic orientations against the backdrop of his times. Chapter 3 goes on to select some of his essays and analyze their contents and characteristics. In Chapter 2, Bangsan is portrayed as a hermit scholar who devoted his entire life to his scholarly achievements. Although he tried to develop his academic theories based on both the Geungi and Yeongnam Schools of Neo-Confucianism, the scholar was more inclined to the Geungi School. Chapter 3 analyzes Bangsan's essays in Classical Chinese with a focus on two themes: The first is the author's loyalty to the academic tradition of the Geungi School, which is demonstrated by his positivistic and pragmatic approach to philosophical issues. The second is his awareness of self-reliant national defense as is revealed by his assertion that Joseon should have knowledge, and provide education, on new weapons in order to be better equipped with such military equipment and become a powerful nation.
