  • Adult eclosion and emergence behavior of the black pine base scale, Matsucoccus thunbergianae Miller and Park, was studied in a laboratory. Adult eclosion in males did not appear to be limited to a specific time of the day. Newly molted male adults, at room temperatures, usually remained in the cocoons as pre-emergence adults for 0.5-20. days before emerging; most males emerged within one hour after the onset of photophase, and emergence was faster at higher light intensity. Most females molted into adults within three hours after the onset of photophase, and they were active immediately after molting. Quiescence in males appears to help the scales concentrate their sexual activity within a particular period of the day as well as to protect newly molted adults until sexual and locomotive maturity.

Repair of Acute Aortic Arch Dissection with Hypothermic Circulatory Arrest and Retrograde Cerebral Perfusion (저체온순환정지와 역행성 뇌관류에 의한 대동맥궁을 침범한 급성 대동맥 박리증의 수술결과)

  • Background: Acute thoracic aortic dissections involving the aortic arch differ in diagnosis, surgical procedures, and operative results compared to those that do not involve the aortic arch. In general cerebral perfusion under deep hypothermic circulatory arrest (HCA) is performed during the repair of the aortic arch dissection. Here, we report our surgical results of the aortic arch dissection repair using retrograde cerebral perfusion (RCP) and its safety. Material and Method: Between January 1996 and June 2002, 22 consecutive patients with aortic arch dissection underwent aortic arch repair. In 20 of them RCP was performed under HCA. RCP was done through superior vena cava in 19 patients and by systemic retrograde venous perfusion in 1, in whom it was difficult to reach the SVC. When the patient's rectal temperature reached 16 to 18$^{\circ}C$, systemic circulation was arrested, and the amount of RCP amount was 481.1 $\pm$292.9 $m\ell$/min with perfusion pressure of 20∼30 mmHg. Result: There were two in-hospital deaths (4.5%) and one late death (9.1%). Mean circulatory arrest time (RCP time) was 54.0$\pm$ 13.4 minutes (range, 7 to 145 minutes). RCP time has no correlation with the appearance of consciousness, recovery of orientation, or ventilator weaning time (p=0.35, 0.86, and 0.92, respectively). Ventilator weaning was faster in patients with earlier recovery of consciousness and orientation (r=0.850, r=926; p=0.000, respectively). RCP of more than 70 minutes did not affect the appearance of consciousness, recovery of orientation, ventilator weaning time, exercise time, or hospital stay (p=0.42, 0.57, 0.60, 0.83, and 0.51, respectively). Conclusion: Retrograde cerebral perfusion time under hypothermic circulatory arrest during repair of aortic arch dissection may not affect recovery of orientation, ventilator weaning time, neurologic complications, and postoperative recovery.

A Study to Improve the Vessel Navigation Suspension Order System (항행정지명령 제도의 개선방안에 관한 연구)

  • With the introduction of the maritime safety supervisor system in Korea following the passenger vessel Sewol accident, the safety control system for coastal vessels has been reinforced. A maritime safety supervisor performs marine accident prevention activities by offering periodical or occasional guidance and supervision. When a deficiency is found during guidance or supervision sessions, an order for improvement is issued to rectify the problem by such measures as supplementation or replacement of vessel facilities, improvement of work hours and working conditions for employees, educational and training programs for executives and employees, or the improvement of other affairs relating to maritime safety control. However the present order for navigation suspension by a maritime safety supervisor is limited solely to supplementation or replacement. For this reason, orders for navigation suspension against other facilities is impossible, even if a serious deficiency that could lead to a marine accident such as poor cargo loading conditions or unqualified crew is identified. Therefore, the order for vessel navigation suspension to secure seaworthiness should be expanded to include cargo loading/unloading operations, certificates and documentation, maritime safety management systems, and human elements including emergency drills and working conditions, in addition to the supplementation or replacement of vessel facilities that exists.

  • 하드디스크드라이브(Hard Disk Drive)의 트랙 탐색에서의 초기 조건을 고려한 시간 최적화 문제에 대한 해를 보인다. 이에 대한 유도에서는 전류, 전압, 저크뿐만이 아니라 액추에이터의 동역학식 또한 고려한다. 이렇게 구한 시간 최적화 문제의 해는 3차 상태 변수의 피드백 형태로 나타난다. 초기 조건을 고려함으로써 0이 아닌 임의의 초기 조건에 대해서도 시간 최적화 경로를 산출할 수 있다. 따라서 하드디스 크드라이브의 암이 정지 상태가 아닌 상황에서도 목표 위치 수정이 가능하므로 기존의 목표 위치와 다른 새로운 목표 위치에 대한 입력에 대해서도 빠른 응답을 기대할 수 있다.

Peak Hour Volume Signal Warrant for T Intersection (첨두시간 교통량에 의한 T형 교차로 신호등 설치기준)

  • 현재 사용되고 있는 신호등 설치기준은 교차로의 형태를 반영하고 있지 않다. 본 논문은 신호 및 비신호 T형 교차로에 대한 현장의 지체도 조사를 바탕으로 첨두시간 교통량을 이용한 T형 교차로의 신호등 설치기준을 개발하였다. 기준설정을 위해 교차로의 평균정지지체 최소화를 평가척도로 사용하였으며 주요 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, T형 교차로의 지체도 모형은 주도로 교통량과 부도로 교통량을 독립변수로 하는 지수함수 형태를 갖는다. 둘째, T형 교차로의 신호등 설치기준은 T형으로 인한 현시의 감소로 MUTCD에서 제시하고 있는 신호등 설치기준과 비교시 타당성 교통량이 높게 나타났다. 셋째, T형 교차로의 신호등 설치를 위한 첨두시 교통량기준 도표를 작성하였으며, 평일의 하루중 주도로(양방향)의 시간당 교통량과 이에 사용하는 부도로의 시간당 교통량의 최대값을 도표에 표시했을 때 접근로 차로수의 조합에 해당하는 기준선의 상위영역에 위치하면 신호등을 설치하는 것이 교차로의 지체도를 최소화시킬수 있다.

진공청소기 모터의 가속시험법 개발

  • 진공청소기 제품의 시장불량을 조사한 결과 모터의 불량이 전체 불량 중 많은 부분을 차지하고 있으며 조금씩 증가추세를 보이고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 그러므로, 본 연구에서는 진공청소기 모터의 출하 전, 불량품 검출력을 향상시킬 수 있는 가속시험법을 개발하고자 하였다. 또한, 가속시험을 통해 사업부의 신뢰성시험 납기 단축 및 시험비용 절감 뿐아니라 모터에 대한 가속시험 기술력 확보를 목적으로 수행하였다. 가속수명시험 시 스트레스인자는 모터의 브러쉬 마모 가속을 위해 정격보다 높은 전압을 인가하였다. 가속모형으로는 전압스트레스를 인가하는 경우 일반적으로 사용되는 역자승(Inverse Power) 모형을 사용하였다. 가속시험 결과 정격의 120% 전압에서 가속계수 4.3이 얻어졌다. 이는 수출 모델의 경우 현재의 시험시간 42일을 10 일로 단축하여 76%의 시험시간이 절감되어 시험 가능 횟수가 4배로 증가되는 결과를 얻었다. 추가적으로 다양한 On/Off 시간 변환 시험을 실시하였으나 현시험법과의 고장 모드 (브러쉬 마모로 인한 회전정지) 및 고장유형이 일치하지 않음을 알 수 있었다. 이 결과는 On/Off 시간변환을 통한 가혹시험의 경우 주의를 필요로 함을 나타낸다.

Accuracy Analysis of Orthometric Heights Based on GNSS Static Surveying (GNSS 정지측량을 통한 표고 산출 정확도 분석)

  • In 2013, NGII(National Geographic Information Institute) has developed and provided the KNGeoid13(Korean National Geoid Model 2013) to support the fundamental computation of GNSS-derived orthometric height. In this study, the adjusted ellipsoidal height, the sum of geoidal height and height by the leveling, is applied to calculate the GNSS-derived orthometric height without the local bias, based on GNSS static surveying and KNGeoid13. The mean of errors in GNSS-derived orthometric heights could be verified with the leveling data, which was actually less than 0.5 cm with using the adjusted ellipsoidal heights, but 3 cm by calculating differences between ellipsoidal heights and geoidal heights. By analyze the accuracy of GNSS-derived orthometric height depending on the duration of observation, we could realized 95% of data shows less than 4 cm accuracy, when the GNSS survey conducting for 4 hours spread over two days, but while the case of GNSS survey conducting for 4 hours and 2 hours respectively, resulted in 95% of data less than 5cm level of accuracy. Also, if the ambiguity is fixed, less than 10cm of accuracy could be obtained at 95% of data for only 30 minutes GNSS survey over a day. Following the study, we expected that the height determination by GNSS and geoid models can be used in the public benchmark surveying.

Respiration in the Adult of the Water Striders, Gerris paludum insuralis(Insecta, Hemiptera, Gerridae) (소금쟁이(G. paludum insuralis)성체의 흐름)

  • The authors attempted to investigate the oxygen consumption rate of sexuals in the water-striders, Gerris paludum insuralis, at four temperature groups of 25, 30, 35 and $40^\\circ C$ in a series of studies on respiration of a heminetabolous insects. THe results are summarised as follows: (1) At $30^\\circ C$, the change of oxygen consumption rate according to the lapse of time was small in comparison with the other three temperature groups which shows a cyclic decreasing pattern. The rate during initial and final 5 minutes was much alike. Thereupon, the optimum temperature was regarded as $30^\\circ C$. (2) The oxygen consumption rate of male was higher than that of female. (3) The oxygen consumption rates at 25, 30, 35 and $40^\\circ C$ were 0.42, 0.49, 0.79 and 1.11 $\\mu$l/mg/h respectively. That is, the rate was increased as the temperature was increased. (4) The $Q_10$ of male showed a high value in the lower temperature interval ($25^\\circ C \\sim 35^\\circ C$), but the female showed a high value in the higher temperature interval ($30^\\circ C \\sim 40^\\circ C$). The mean $Q_10$ was 2.12. (5) The respiratory rate was decreased as the body weight was increased in the above fresh weight of 10mg and dry weight 5 mg. (6) The upper temperature threshold for respiration was $48.31^\\circ C$ and the lower temperature threshold was $17.68^\\circ C$. (7) The ceasing time of breathing at the other three temperature groups except $30^\\circ C$ was infered to be about 110 minutes after the start of experiment.

  • A performance index of singalized intersections is a standard to optimize signal control variables and to manage traffic flow. Traffic delays is generally used to minimize the average delay time on intersections or networks, progression efficiency is used to improve travel speed of main cooridors or to provide transit signal priority. We manage traffic flows with only selecting one index between delays and progression according to the objective of traffic management and field characteristics. In real field, the driver's satisfaction is high in any performance criteria when the waiting time is shorter and the unnecessary stop in front of traffic is smaller. This paper aims to develop simulation model to represent real progression with concurrently considering delays and progression. In order to reflect an effect of level of traffic volumes and residual queues which don't be considered in prior progression model, we apply shockwave model with flow-density diagram. We derive Cell Transmission Model of Daganzo in order to develop the delay index and the progression index for the macroscopic simulation model. In order to validate the effect, we analysis traffic delays and progression efficiency with comparing this model to Transyt-7F and PASSER V.

Segmentation and Compression Techniques for 3D Animation Models (삼차원 애니메이션 모델의 분할 및 부호화 방법)

  • 최근 복잡한 실제 사물을 가상 공간상에 표현하기 위해 삼차원 모델을 많이 이용하고 있다. 기존의 삼차원 데이터 처리는 주로 정지 모델에 대해 기하학 정보와 위상학 정보를 표현하거나 다중 해상도(Level of Details, LOD)로 나타내는데 역점을 두었다. 그러나 네트웍을 통한 가상 공간에서 삼차원 애니메이션에 대한 응용이 점차 늘어남에 따라 이러한 데이터를 효율적으로 압축하여 전송하거나 저장할 필요가 생겼다 본 논문에서는 삼차원 애니메이션 모델의 공간적 또는 시간적 상관 관계를 이용하여 삼차원 모델 정보를 부호화하는 방법을 제안한다. 먼저 주어진 모델의 움직임을 분석하고 이를 (r,θ,ø)의 구 좌표계로 변환한 후 (θ,ø)의 분포에 따라 모델을 분할(Segmentation)한다. 그리고 움직임 벡터는 Affine 변환을 이용하여 삼차원 공간에서의 움직임을 정의한다. Key프레임에 해당하는 정지 모델의 기하학 정보와 위상학 정보를 압축하고, LOD 기술을 적용하여 손실 혹은 무손실로 부호화하여 전송한다. 또한 Key프레임 사이의 화면에서는 선형 또는 비선형 보간법으로 각 분할 부분을 복원하고, 이를 조합하여 전체적인 삼차원 모델을 복원한다.
