압력 변화 모사를 통한 초소형 연소기에서의 열손실 예측 모텔 개발 (Development of Model for Heat Loss from a Micro Combustor Using Pressure Simulation)

  • As the size of a combustor decreases to a MEMS scale, heat loss increases and becomes a dominant effect on the performance of the devices. Existing models, however, are not adequate to predict the heat transfer and combustion processes in such small scales. In the present study, a semi-empirical model to calculate heat loss from a micro combustor is described. The model derives heat transfer coefficients that best fits the heat loss characteristics of a micro combustor that is represented by transient pressure record after combustion is completed. From conservation of energy equation applied to the burned gas inside the combustor, a relationship between pressure and heat transfer is reduced. Two models for heat transfer coefficients were tested; a constant and first order polynomial of temperature with its coefficients determined from fitting with measurements. The model was tested on a problem of cooling process of burnt gas in a micro combustor and comparison with measurements showed good agreements. The heat transfer coefficients were used for combustion calculation in a micro vessel. The results showed the dependence of flame speed on the scale of the chamber through enhanced heat loss.

가솔린 직접분사용 다공형 인젝터의 분무특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Spray Characteristics of Gasoline Direct Injection Multi-hole Injector)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 경제적이고, 친환경적인 가솔린 직접 분사 인젝터의 분무특성을 연구하는 것에 있다. 분무도달거리, 분무각 그리고 혼합기 형성과 같은 인젝터의 특성을 가시화 실험을 통하여 측정하였다. 특히 분무압력과 분위기압력이 분무 침투거리와 분무각에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 가시화 실험을 위하여 정적 연소실과 연료 공급장치를 제작하였다. 초고속 카메라와 LED광원을 이용하여 분무형상을 촬영하였고, 촬영된 영상으로 분무 특성을 분석하였다. 연소실내의 분위기압력이 감소하고, 연료의 분무압력이 증가할수록 도달거리는 증가하였다. 분위기압력과 분무압력에 대해 분무각의 변화는 미소하지만, 분위기압력이 분무각에 더 큰 영향을 미치고 있다.

레이저 유도 공동 점화방식을 이용한 예혼합기 연소 특성 향상 (Combustion Enhancemen of Premixed Mixtures Using Laser-Induced Cavity Ignition)

  • In this study, a new type of laser-induced ignition using a conical cavity has been developed to utilize all the available incident laser energy. In the method, it is possibile to ignite combustible methane/air mixtures by directing a laser beam of a constant small diameter into a small conical cavity, without focusing the laser beam. Shadow graphs for the early stage of combustion process show that a hot gas jet is ejected from the cavity, especially with lean mixture. After a very show time, the hot gas jet finishes issuing and the flame behavior is quite similar to flame propagation initiated by a conventional spark ignition. The combustion process using the new method exhibits more rapid pressure increase and a higher maximum pressure rise than that of the center ignition using laser-induced spark, with significant decrease in the combustion time. Also, the new ignition method is numerically modeled to simulate the flame kernel development and subsequent combustion process using the KIVA-IIcode. The calculated results show satisfactory agreement with experimental results.

돌출높이와 초기온도 변화에 따른 연소실 벽면에서의 열유속에 관한 연구 (A Study of Heat Flux According to the Initial Temperature of Combustion Chamber and Blight of Probe in a Constant Volume Combustion Chamber)

  • As for the Production of internal combustion engines there has been further movement toward development of high Performance engines with improved fuel efficiency as well as a lightweight and a small size. These tendencies help to solve the problems in engines for example, such as thermal load. abnormal combustion and so on. In order to investigate these Problems, a thin film-type probe for measuring instantaneous temperature has been suggested. A method for manufacturing such a probe was established in this study The instantaneous surface temperature of a constant volume combustion chamber was measured by using this probe and the heat flux was obtained through Fourier analysis In order to thoroughly understand the characteristics of combustion. authors measured wall temperature of combustion chamber and calculated heat flux through a cylinder wall while varying the protrusion height of probe. For these Purposes, the instantaneous surface temperature probe was developed. thereby making possible the analysis of instantaneous temperature of wall surface and the detection of unsteady heat flux in the constant volume combustion chamber.

ECN 연구용 고온 고압 정적 연소실에서의 n-dodecane 분무 및 연소 특성 (Spray and Combustion Characteristics of n-dodecane in a Constant Volume Combustion Chamber for ECN Research)

  • The spray and combustion characteristics of n-dodecane fuel were investigated in a CVCC (constant volume combustion chamber). The selection of ambient conditions for the spray followed ECN (engine combustion network) guidelines, which simulates the ambient condition of diesel engines at start of fuel injection. ECN is a collaboration network whose main objective is to establish an internet library of well-documented experiments that are appropriate for model validation and the advancement of scientific understanding of combustion at conditions specific to engines. Therefore repeatability of the experiments with high accuracy was important. The ambient temperature was varied from 750 to 930 K while the density was fixed at around $23kg/m^3$. The injection pressure of the fuel was varied from 500 to 1500 bar. The spray was injected in both non-reacting ($O_2$ concentration of 0%) and reacting conditions ($O_2$ concentration of 15%) to examine the spray and the combustion characteristics. Direct imaging with Mie Scattering was used to obtain the liquid penetration length. Shadowgraph was implemented to observe vapor length and lift-off length at non-reacting and reacting conditions, respectively. Pressure data was analyzed to determine the ignition delay with respect to the spray and ambient conditions.

  • To investigate only the effects of the stratified mixture distribution on initial flame propagation and combustion characteristics, the instantaneous equivalence ratio in the spark plug gap and combustion pressure were measured simultaneously In a constant volume chamber, To induce the stratified propane-air mixture distribution near the spark plug, counter-flow typed mixture injection system was used under the constant mean equivalence ratio $\Phi$$\_$mean/= 1.0 The instantaneous equivalence ratio was measured by a single-shot Raman scattering with narrow-band KrF excimer laser. The measuring error was within the limit of $\pm$ 3.5% provided that the proposed method was applied to the measured Raman signals. Judging from mass fraction burned derived from the measured pressure, the optimum combustion characteristics were shown under the condition that the local equivalence ratio in the spark plug was near 1.28$\pm$0.04, and these characteristics were more remarkable at the initial stage of combustion.

대칭형 핀틀 노즐의 핀틀 위치와 고도 변화에 대한 정상상태 특성 연구 (A Study on the Steady-State Characteristics of Symmetric Pintle Nozzle with Varying Position of Pintle and Change in Altitude)

  • 본 연구에서는 좌, 우로 배치된 대칭형 핀틀 노즐의 고도 변화와 핀틀 위치 변화에 따른 특성을 파악하기 위해 수치해석을 수행하였다. 핀틀 노즐 형상은 선행연구를 수행한 직선형 핀틀 노즐을 사용하였고, 연소실 경계조건은 추진제 연소특성을 고려하였다. 해석을 수행할 유동해석 프로그램으로 사각노즐, 핀틀 노즐, 고고도 조건의 검증해석을 수행하여 적절한 해석기법을 설정하였다. 핀틀 위치는 full close, half open, full open 의 3가지 서로 다른 노즐 목 크기조건을 설정하였고, 고도는 0, 5, 20 km 조건을 설정하였다. 각 조건별 추력과 핀틀의 구동하중, 정적 안정성을 비교하여 연구를 수행하였다.

정적 연소실 내에서의 2유체 가솔린 분사기의 착화 특성에 대한 실험적 연구 (An experimental study on the ignition characteristics of an air-assisted gasoline injector in a constant volume combustion chamber)

  • The objective of this study is to determine the ignition feasibility of a single shot, air-assisted gasoline fuel injector operated in a constant volume combustion chamber under atmospheric condition. A number of parameters has been selected for this experiments, such as dwelling time, spark gap position(r,z), spark electrode geometry, supplied air and fuel masses and spray cone deflector angle. On-site visual inspection of the instantaneous flame glow was chosen as one way to judge the successful ignition. In addition, chamber pressure and occasional photography were mobilized as for data recording. It was clearly observed that there was an entrainment air-fuel mixture toward spray axis from the spray formation and its development later on. The optimum ignition conditions were found for those parameters given above.

기체 에틸렌/산소 Tri-arc 회전 데토네이션 엔진 실험연구 (An Experimental Study of Tri-arc Rotating Detonation Engine Using Gaseous Ethylene/Oxygen)

  • 회전 데토네이션 엔진(Rotating Detonation Engine, RDE)은 기계 장치나 유동이 아닌 데토네이션 파만이 연소실 벽을 따라 회전한다. 따라서 RDE 단면이 원형이어야 할 필요가 없으며 임의 단면의 닫힌 형상이 가능하다. 본 연구에서는 임의의 단면을 가지는 RDE의 한 가지 예로써 tri-arc 단면 형상의 RDE를 설계하였으며, 실험적으로 작동 및 성능 특성을 살펴보았다. 동압 센서와 고속카메라를 통하여 데토네이션 파의 회전을 확인하였으며, 오목 면과 볼록 면에서 질량 유량에 따른 데토네이션파의 특징을 알아보았다. 본 연구에서는 유량 조건에 따라 17.0 N에서 96.0 N의 추력 수준을 얻을 수 있었다.

  • 본 연구에서는 합성가스-공기 화염의 셀 불안정성에 있어서 탄화수소 연료의 첨가효과를 알아보기 위하여 상온, 고압, 정적상태의 연소실에서 실험을 수행하였다. 층류화염전파속도는 상세반응기구와 전달물성치를 사용하여 계산하였고 이를 실험으로 측정된 값과 비교하였다. 탄화수소 연료가 첨가된 합성가스-공기 화염의 셀 불안정성은 수력학적 불안정성과 확산-열 불안정성의 관점에서 평가되며 희박예혼합 화염에 대해 실험으로부터 측정된 셀불안정성을 유발하는 임계 Peclet 수는 이론적으로 얻어진 값과 비교하였다. 실험결과는 반응혼합물에 탄화수소 계 연료의 첨가량이 증가할수록 화염전파속도는 감소함을 보였다. 합성가스-공기화염에 프로판과 부탄을 첨가하였을 경우 수력학적 불안정성과 확산-열 불안정성이 감소하여 셀 형성은 현저하게 감소하였다. 반면 메탄을 첨가하였을 경우 셀 불안정성이 완화되는 효과는 없었다.
