A 56 year-old man complaining of dry cough, dyspnea, chest pain, fever, and chills was admitted to the emergency room. The patient had a history of esophagectomy and esophagogastrostomy and subsequent radiotherapy because of an esophageal cancer. After the emergency echocardiography revealed a small amount of pericardial effusion and pneumopericardium. Upper GI contrast study showed a fistulous tract between the stomach and the pericardium, and an emergency operation was done under the diagnosis of gastropericardial fistula. The patient expired postoperative seven days later. Gastropericardial fistula caused by a peptic ulcer perforation after the esophagectomy and esophagogastrostomy operation is a very rare complication and brings forth a disastrous result. Early detection using the chest radiography, electrocardiogram, upper Gl study, echocardiography and a review of physical examination, and an immediate treatment are therefore mandatory.

This study aims to investigate the original position, the writer of signboard handwriting and the period of Wibongmun and Joyangru in order to restore Wibongmun and Joyangru which have been designated as tangible cultural properties (有形文化財). They also have to be moved in the Gangwon Provincial Office. Wibongmun and Joyangru were established as government offices in chuncheon(春川官衙) and they were used as attached buildings in Chunceon (春川離宮) in 1890. Wibongmun was moved to Gangwon Provincial Office 5 times and Joyangru was moved twice. In order to move them back to the original place, by using the topographic map made by the Japanese Government-General in Korea, we find out Joyangru was located in the exit of Gangwon Provincial Office and greenhouse and we also figure out Wibongmun was located in the garden. While we study historical evidence on handwriting, we also find out the handwriting of Joyangmun was written by Songhaong (松下翁) Jo, Yun-Hyeong (曺允亨). Especially, Joyangru had played a role as a government office and it may be called 'Joyangru' after reconstructing 'Joyangmun' when attached buildings were established. Through this study, we found that the first period and reason of establishing Wibongmun and Joyangru was at least before 1788. Through this study, we can find the period of both and its historic meaning more clearly.

Background : Integrative cancer treatment is a holistic approach embracing body, mind, and spirit incorporating conventional treatments of surgery, chemotherapy, radiation and personalized complementary treatments. Wheel Balance Therapy (WBT) of East-West Cancer Center(EWCC), Dunsan Oriental Hospital of Daejeon University was developed to balance out all factors involved in cancer care based on the traditional theories of oriental medicine. Objective : This work aims to analytically review literatures on WBT and its related components. Methods : Literatures published from January 1st, 1990 to April 30th, 2011 were reviewed focusing on 4 main components of WBT; herbal medicine, immune activation, anti-cancer diet, and breathing/meditation. Data were retrieved from medical search engines and electronic data bases including Pubmed, Research Information sharing Service (RISS), Korean-studies Information Service System (KISS), China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), and Korea's National Digital Library (KNDL). Results : In this review, EWCC's most commonly prescribed formulas are explored. The composition of the formulas, their use in clinical settings as well as the background studies and other therapeutic efficacies are explained. Information on incorporating anti-cancer dietary support and breathing and meditation techniques, other therapies practiced as part of the center's integrative cancer care are also covered. Conclusion : WBT based on holistic theories of oriental medicine embracing body, mind, and spirit is expected to further contribute in promotion of cancer patients' quality of life and prolonged survival time.

Zirconia polycrystalline (Y-TZP) showed better mechanical properties and superior resistance to fracture than other conventional dental ceramics. Zirconia-based ceramics have been successfully introduced into the clinic to fabricate fixed dental prostheses (FDPs), along with a dental computer-aided/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) system. It has been clinically available as an alternative to the metal framework for fixed dental prostheses (FDPs). The most frequent clinical complication with zirconia-based FDPs was chipping of the veneering porcelain that was affected by many factors. Another option was full-contour zirconia FDPs using high translucent zirconia. Full-contour zirconia FDPs has many clinical advantages but it caused concern about the wear of antagonist enamel, because the hardness of Y-TZP was over double that of porcelain. However, many articles demonstrates that highly polished zirconia yielded lower antagonist wear compared with porcelains. In this article (1) advantages of full zirconia restorations, (2) clinical applications of zirconia restorations, (3) abutment preparation, (4) surface finish of zirconia restoration and antagonist enamel wear, (5) bond of zirconia with resin-based luting agents, (6) communication in clinical & lab.procedures for full zirconia restorations are reviewed.

In this paper, a signal processing circuit for semi-implantable middle ear hearing device is designed using the TCBT which is recently proposed for a new middle ear transducer that can be implanted at round window of cochlea. The designed semi-implantable hearing device transmits digital sound signal from external device located at behind the ear to the internal device implanted under the skin using inductive coupling link methods with high efficiency. The coils and signal processing circuits are designed and implemented considering the total transmission and reception distance including skin thickness of temporal bone for the semi-implantable hearing device. And also, to improve the data transmission efficiency, the output circuits which can supply sufficient signal power is designed. In order to confirm operation of semi-implantable hearing device using inductive coupling link, the circuit analysis was performed using PSpice, and the performance was verified by implementing a signal processing board of an available size.

Compositions of fatty acid and sterol of Hirneola auricula-Judge and Gyrophora esculenta produced is Korea were analyzed by gas liquid chromatographic(GLC) and infra red(IR) spectro-photometric techniques. As results, H. auricula showed linoleic acid 33.73, palmitic acid 15.52, stearic acid 5.03, oleic acid 16.03, linolenic acid 17.80, and unknown acid 11.89 % respectively, in their composition, while G. esculenta linoleic acid 46.35, palmitic acid 31.71, oleic acid 16.82, unknown acid 5.12 %, and trace of stearic and linolenic acids, respectively. Sterols were separated by thin layer chromatographic technique from both samples and identified by IR analysis. Two sterols, sitosterol and ergosterol, were present in both samples.

The patient was a 30-day-old female infant with symptoms of severe dyspnea and cyanosis, when she was admitted to the ER. The echocardiography revealed DORV with subpulmonary VSD, and the diagnosis of Taussig-Bing anomaly was made. Two days after admission, an urgent operation was performed. The operation consisted of intraventricular tunnel repair and arterial switch operation. She was discharged, and after checking her chest X-ray through OPD, there was no interval change of cardiomegaly. She was then re-admitted, and the angiography revealed coactation of aorta. We performed a resection and end-to-end anastomosis of aorta. She is currently in good condition 11 months postoperatively.

For detection and parameter estimation, a multicarrier radar should discriminate a channel containing jamming signal and either leave it out or regenerate jammer suppressed target signal. To discriminate jamming channels, we use the angular spectrum of an eigenvector that embeds target echoes and jamming signals. We propose a criteria to discriminate the jammer channels and its basis through mathematical analysis. Moreover, we show some procedures to regenerate the jammer suppressed target echoes. Finally, the validity of the proposed method is demonstrated through simulation results showing improved performance in terms of direction of arrival(DOA) estimation.

This study examines policy issues for the future development of libraries belonging to the metropolitan office of education focusing on facilities (legal basis for installation), management (dedicated department), human resources and budget. This study collected and analyzed related data using National Law Information Center and National Library Statistics System. As a result of this study, the names of the libraries performing library functions varied due to the difference of the administrative organizations of the libraries in the metropolitan education office. In addition, library policy work carried out by the library department may be excluded from policy priorities as a subsidiary task. It is analyzed that the expansion of quota of the librarian deputy director to provide the opportunity for promotion of librarians and the increase of the library input budget against the total budget are necessary.

An histological study was conducted to determine the initial treatment time and treatment duration in the use of sex-reversal hormones in relation to gonadal development and sexual differentiation in the bagrid catfish, Leiocassis ussuriensis. The primordial germ cell, which could be recognized from one-day-old fry, began to protrude into the peritoneal cavity between the mesonephric duct and the gut. The primordial gonad with a genital ridge was developed at 5~10 days after hatching. Sex differentiation of the ovary was identified by the ovarian cavity and meiotic oocytes from 20-day-old larvae. Testicular differentiation was also identified by spermatogonial cells from 20-day-old larvae. It may therefore be concluded that this species belongs to the differentiated type of gonochoristic teleost.
