This study was conducted in order to design a piston, part of a shock absorber, and the findings after examining the features of the velocity distribution and the static pressure distribution of oil on a low-velocity piston are as follow. The compression speed of oil passing through an 0.9 mm orifice was 0.0156~0.0642 m/s, and the velocity vector of the velocity distribution and the static pressure distribution had a greater tendency to rotate when the velocity increased. In case of the velocity vector of the velocity distribution and the static pressure distribution with an 0.8mm orifice, the speed changed secondarily, the second pressure-drop was observed and as for the distribution of the streamline around the orifice, a vortex was produced around the center. As for the velocity distribution of oil passing from the compression cylinder to the compact pipe, the velocity was greater in orifice of small diameter. Also, the greater the pressure difference was between the compression cylinder and the compact cylinder, the greater the force it was upon the piston.
The instrumentation was studied in order to measure aerodynamic performance and efficiency of a compressor as a component of a 5MW-class gas turbine for power generation. In case of an axial compressor, the distributions of static pressure on a casing can be obtained by averaging at each stage and those of total pressure and temperature in the flow field of the compressor can be measured with a Kiel temperature probe. In case of a centrifugal compressor, the static pressures at the hub and the tip, respectively, of an impeller exit are considerably different, so the pressures need to be measured at both positions and thereafter averaged. The distributions of static pressures in a diffuser and a deswirler are measured at ten positions along five streamlines in one pitch. In addition the flow field can be measured in detail by 5-hole Pitot tube in order to analyze the flow characteristics of the core flow region and wake region and the rotor-stator interaction of the compressor.

Since conventional computer program is workable only with velocity boundary condition, in practical fluid passage such as clean room which usually have wide inlets and outlets, it is not easy to measure velocity itself because of its vector property. Furthermore a certain assumption of velocity at boundaries may lead to physically unreasonable results. From this motivation, we have developed a computer program to predict whole flow field imposed on pressure-based boundary condition which can be measured by relatively simple method. The only additional velocity boundary condition that should be imposed on to make the problem unique, are no slip condition at all walls and zero cross stream velocity at inlet. The result of present study was compared with that by Bernoulli equation being used practically. They were coincident well each other within 5%, therefore the validity of the present method is proved. In the present work, the flow field in a clean room subject to pressure-based boundary conditions at an inlet and two exits was predicted numerically. The pressure difference between the inlet and the left exit which keeps relatively low pressure among two exits is fixed as 150[Pa] and the pressure at the right exit is varied from zero to 150[Pa] by the increment of 25[Pa]. For each cases the flow characteristics in the clean room, the velocity profile at the inlet, and the flow rate through the two exits was predicted. The flow rate through the right exit imposed on relatively higher pressure than the left exit decreased linearly according to the increase of pressure of the right exit. When the pressure of the right exit is increased enough to cause back flow at the exit, the flow rate is rapidly decreased.
In the present paper, a computational study on the hydrodynamic behavior of the inducer are presented including the effect of the mass flow rate. The adopted inducer showed very low head rise with high volume flow rates, which may be caused by the small passage area near the trailing edge. The static pressure distributions at the shroud surface are compared with experimental results showing very good agreements. The overall performance of the inducer such as, efficiency, head rise is also compared with experiments. The computational results are generally in good agreements with experimental ones near the design point, but at the high flow rate, the two results shows discrepancy.
This study is focused on the characterization of an effective hydraulic conductivity in each hydrogeologic unit assumed as an equivalent continuum medium in the granitic area. Four boreholes of 3" diameter were installed and a Multi-packer system was facilitated in the selected borehole. Various in-situ tests including the fracture logging, constant injection and fall-off tests, slug and pulse tests were carried out. A hydrogeologic unit was defined into the upper and lower zones based on the variation of fracture properties and hydraulic conductivities. The difference of the result obtained by the various hydraulic tests and the effective characterization techniques on rock mass permeability are also discussed. The effective hydraulic conductivity of the upper unit was measured by two times(5.27E-10 m/s~7.57E-10 m/s) that of the lower unit(2.45E-10 m/s~6.81E-10 m/s)through the constant injection and fall-off tests.
The purpose of this research is to investigate the characteristics of static and total pressure distribution in the upward free water jet system impinged on a downward flat plate. The rectangular nozzle was used and its contraction and aspect ratio was five and about seven respectively. Experimental conditions considered were jet velocity, distance between nozzle and flat plate, height of supplementary water. It was founded that pressure distribution on the flat plate had the Gaussian curve when the pressure at stagnation point and impinging half width were chosen as the scaling parameters. The maximum pressure was shown at the stagnation point. The central impingement velocity decreased with the increment of distance between nozzle and flat plate, and its slop of decay was similar to that of chracteristics decay region in the three-dimensional free jet.

In the present paper, computational studies on the hydrodynamic behavior of the inducer for the rocket-engine turbopump are presented including the effect of the mass flow rate. As the mass flow rate is increased, the inducer showed better performance with weak back flows which may have deleterious effects upon the anti-cavitation ability. But the adopted inducer showed low head rise with high volume flow rates, which may be caused by the small passage area near the trailing edge. The static pressure distributions at the shroud surface are compared with experimental results showing very good agreements except near the leading edge where strong back flows are present. The overall performance of the inducer such as, efficiency, head rise is also compared with experiments. The computational results are generally in good agreements with experimental ones near the design point, but two results show discrepancy at the high flow rate.
The static pressure distribution and flow characteristics inside the high-pressure swirl spray were investigated by measuring the static pressure inside the spray and applying the computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The static pressure difference between inner and outer part of spray was measured at different axial locations and operating conditions using a piezo-resislive pressure transducer. To obtain the qualitative value of swirl motion at different operating conditions, the spray impact-pressure at the nozzle exit was measured using a piezo-electric pressure transducer, and the flow angle was measured using a microscopic imaging system. The flow characteristics inside the high pressure swirl spray was simulated by the 1-phase 3-dimensional CFD model. The effect of pressure alternations on spray development was discussed with macroscopic spray images and a mathematical liquid film model. The results showed that the static pressure drop is observed inside the swirl spray as a result of the dragged air motion and the centrifugal force of the air. The recirculation vortex inside the spray was also observed inside the swirl spray as a result of the adverse pressure gradient along the axial locations. The results of analytical liquid film model and macroscopic spray images showed that the static pressure structure is one of the main parameters affecting the swirl spray development.

To achieve the unidirectional airflow in a cleanroom, we need to predict accurately the static pressure losses at the lower plenum and to control properly the opening pressure ratio of access floor panels based on these pressure losses. At first, the present study proposed a correlation to predict the velocity distribution at the lower plenum, because the accuracy to predict pressure losses at the lower plenum depends on how to calculate the velocity correctly against the inner structures at the lower plenum. In the second place, this study proposed correlations which considered the effect of inner structures such as columns, ducts and equipments at the lower plenum on pressure losses. In order to test the accuracy of these correlations, we compared air flow patterns before regulating the opening ratio of access floor with those after regulating. Results after regulating the opening ratio of access floor show good unidirectional uniform airflow pattern. So the present method can be used as an important tool to control the air flow in a cleanroom.
