  • The fluid system such as, the quantity control of raw water, chemicals control in the purification, the waste water system as well as in the feed water or circulation system of the power plant and the ventilation system is controlled with the valve and moter pump. The system's performance and the energy saving of the fluid systems depend on control of method and delicacy. Until, PI controller use in these system but it cannot control delicately because of the coupling in the system loop. In this paper we configure a single flow system to the multi variable system and suggest the application of 2-DOF PID controller and the tuning methods by the neural network to the electrical power of the flow control system. the 2-DOF controller follows to a setpoint has a robustness against the disturbance in the results of simulation. • Most facilities in chemical plants operate in environments that are outside the range of temperature and pressure that can be encountered on a daily basis, and are vulnerable to aging due to these stresses and environmental conditions. The facilities exposed to these conditions are not only likely to fail due to cumulative damage, but also lead to accidents if maintenance and replacement are not performed.Recommendation guidelines called risk-based inspection are widely used around the world-wide. However, limits exist for facilities that have already elapsed for a certain. As a result of the survey on the aging of Ulsan industrial complex in Korea, which carries out proper inspection, many of the facilities have been used for 20 years. Also, most of the facilities where the accident occurred have been in operation for more than 20 years. Therefore, this study suggested criteria for classifying devices that have exceeded a certain period of use as obsolete facilities. In addition, quantitative risk assessment was conducted. The safety investment method using the cost-benefit analysis method was proposed in order to calculate the loss cost and reduce the risk by expressing the risks of the corresponding aged facility as an Economic index. By utilizing the method of cost-benefit analysis of old facilities using the quantitative risk assessment presented in this study, it can be expected to improve the performance and life of old facilities, improve production efficiency and reliability of the system of facilities, change the recognition of safety management costs, increase employee stability, and reduce loss costs.

  • There are many water treatment plants built over couple of decade ago in Korea. For most of those plants, they are required a countermeasure to cope with the deterioration caused from the superannuated facilities and the objective materials change of water treatment from inorganic particles like clay to algae particles due to eutrophication of lake and reservoir. A series of field and laboratory experiments was performed to investigate the feasibility of DAF hybrid process and the variation of particle characteristics by applying the additional DAF unit in conventional water treatment processes. On the basis of this experiments, the DAF was effective as an additive process in filtration basin (DAF-CSF combination processes). Using DAF-CSF combination process, the efficiency of stable particle removal can be achieved to produce the safe drinking water.

  • With the advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, multi-variety production in the up-to-date manufacturing environment is proceeding more rapidly whereby production planning and management have been getting more complicated. Moreover, the need to improve production efficiency through effective operation sequencing is further heightened. Fundamentally, the effective operation sequencing can reduce the set-up of the equipment, efficiently utilize the equipment, shorten the set-up time, and ultimately contribute to productivity improvement. This study deals with the problem of efficient operation sequencing in a situation where a single machine performs multiple operations. The complexity of the problem is very high when compared to the case where only one operation is performed on one machine, which is covered in most existing studies. In this paper, we propose an integer programming model to minimize the number of setups. This study aims at minimizing the number of mold replacement times in the process of processing a given production order for the wiring harness manufacturing process, which is one of the components of automobile electric field. In addition, brief case studies are presented to verify the validity of the proposed mathematical model.

  • One of the most serious problems in KEPCO power system is the load centralization in the capital area. The load capacity in the capital area is almost 40% of the total load. However, the generation capacity in this area is just 16% of the total generation. The inequality, between the power demand and supply, in this area needs the power transmission from other regions. The simplest method to solve the problem is the installation of power plants or the addition of high-capacity transmission line in the metropolitan area. However, because of the concentration of human and material resources, there is a difficulty in the installation of the generation and transformer facility. As a result, instead of the installation of large scale facilities, the approach to maximize the application of existing facilities is required. In this research, we will develop a scheme with an HVDC installation for enhancing power transfer capability by utilizing the existing transmission lines.

  • The international standard to determine grounding conductor size can be applied for a wide range of items because it includes the specific physical characteristics, but it has a problem where the numerical formula is complicated. However the JIS and domestic standard numerical formula are simple but have many constraints. The new grounding conductor size selecting method is necessary in order to solve such problems. Therefore, in this study, we suggested an improved method for selecting the grounding conductor size and simple numerical formula with a numerical formula control modeling. and we verified reliability of paper used case study.

  • For the surge currents like lightning currents containing high frequency components and the abnormal currents having high frequencies which cause the EMI(Electromagnetic interference) problems for the electronic devices and communication instruments, the linear grounding electrodes have the significantly composite impedance characteristics which are dependent on the frequency of the applied current. The impedance of a grounding electrode is not lowered by expanding the dimension of the grounding electrode, and the length of grounding electrode having the minimum value of the grounding impedance for each condition of frequency and soil characteristics is existent, and it is defined as Critical length. In this paper, the critical lengths for the vertically and horizontally-buried grounding electrodes are calculated by using the distributed parameter circuit model. The propriety of the simulations has been confirmed by comparing the simulated results with the measured results.

  • This paper presents the basic application idea of superconductor cable for voltage stability limited power system. In bulk power system, the transfer capability of transmission line is often limited by the voltage stability, and superconductor cable could be one of the countermeasure to enhance heat transfer limit as well as voltage stability limit. Steady state voltage stability approach by P-V curve is used to calculate the maximum transfer capability of initial system and superconductor applied system. IEEE-14 bus system is used to demonstrate its applicability.

  • Inflow or outflow from the water treatment plant and the sewage water has potential energy. If this potential energy can be converted into electrical energy by water turbine generator, it can help to save energy because of the high capacity utilization. So recently, micro hydro power plant is reviewed in the water treatment facility. If generation capacity is low, induction generator is primarily used. If output capacity is low, generated power is supplied to the inside load. Induction generator can cause voltage drop by the inrush current at a start-up and requires reactive power for magnetization. In this study, we analyzed the flow of power and voltage variation against inrush current that occurs when the induction generator starts under the terms that loads of linear and non-linear of the water purification plant are used. Analysis results are that the voltage drop is within an allowable range and the power factor is slightly reduced by the need of reactive power.

  • There are 5 purification plants with the adopted advanced water purification treatment process in Korea. Annual operating costs were 8,990 million won including purchase cost of oxygen and power usage charges. We need research to optimize, in the future, when considering the direction of domestic water treatment continues to adopt advanced water treatment process. In this paper, calculate the optimal operating costs by injected the oxygen gas, used power cost. approximately 25% of the operating costs can be reduced when injected the ozone gas is 1.0ppm than 2.0ppm, the necessary amount of oxygen is increased then power is lower. so operating costs are decided according to oxygen costs. On the other hand, high ozone concentration 2.0ppm, the necessary power is increased then amount of oxygen is lower. Therefore, in the case of G purification plant, the controlling factor of the input ozone concentration 2ppm, PID control operation by setting the concentration of over 10Wt% is efficient. The installed capacity is the more little the more better when considering on Ozone injection rate in the process of water treatment.
