망막분지정맥폐쇄는 안저출혈을 일으키는 중요한 질환의 하나로서 합병성 황반부 부종 및 망막신생혈관에 의한 초자체출혈로 인하여 시력장애를 유발하는 질환으로 전신질환중 고혈압과 가장 흔히 동반되나 당뇨병 혹은 혈액성 질환과도 동반되는 것으로 알려져있다. 초자체출혈의 경우 다른 원인에 의한 경우보다 초자체절제술에 의한 시력개선의 효과가 현저한 질환으로 심한 초자체출혈이 동반된 망막분지정맥폐쇄의 경우 평면부를 통한 초자체절제술 및 안저광응고술에 의한 수술적 처치가 필요할 것으로 사료된다.

폰탄술식 후 수술사망률이 감소하고 생존자가 증가함에 따라 대정맥-폐동맥 순환의 부자연스러운 생리와 관련된 합병증이 발생하게 되었다. 이러한 혈역학적인 문제로 인하여 발생한 합병증 중의 하나가 단백소모성 장질환이다. 단백소모성 장질환은 폰탄술식 후에 발생하는 드물지만 매우 위험한 합병증이다. 많은 다른 치료경향이 제안되었지만 성공적인 치료보고는 제한되어 있다. 폰탄술식후 단백소모성 장질환이 발생한 3명의 환아에서 완전 대정맥-폐동맥 연결로 전환을 시행하였다. 완전 대정맥 폐동맥 연결로 전환함이 만족할 만한 치료방법임을 보고하는 바이다.

Adventitial cystic disease of the vein is a rare vascular disease. Herein, we report a case of adventitial cystic disease of the common femoral vein that was initially misdiagnosed as deep venous thrombosis in a 41-year-old male who presented with leg swelling. We focused on the imaging findings and compared them with those of deep venous thrombosis.

Subclavian vein thrombosis in thoracic outlet syndrome is an uncommon disease. Thrombolysis, venoplasty with a balloon and stent insertion are needed for treating this condition. Sometimes, trans-axillary first rib resection is also needed. We report here on a case of subclavian vein thrombosis that was successfully treated with the medial calviculectomy, internal jugular vein transposition and stent insertion.

Mesenteric venous thrombophlebitis secondary to inflammatory processes such as diverticulitis and appendicitis is a rare disease; however, it can nonetheless cause bowel ischemia and infarctions. Radiologic diagnosis is vital for mesenteric venous thrombophlebitis complicated with diverticulitis due to its non-specific clinical presentation and very low incidence. We report a case of a 61-year-old woman with superior mesenteric vein thrombosis and ileocecal diverticulitis on CT, which was resolved after treatment with a combination of antibiotic therapy and right hemicolectomy.

The graft infection within the abdomen is a notorious condition, which usually develops serious complications of anastomotic rupture or distal embolism that ended in death. There has been many controversies in the treatment of an aortobiiliac graft infection and varying results have been reported. The authors treated a case of aortobiiliac graft infection after abdominal aortic aneurysm surgery. The operation was performed with re-aortobiiliac bypass using bilateral superficial femoral veins. The result was successful.

Phlebectasia of the venous system of the upper limb is very rare and it does not have a well-defined etiology. Phlebectasia means isolated fusiform or saccular dilatation of the venous system and isolated phlebectasia of the forearm may present as a painless cosmetic deformity or it may cause pain, decreased range of movement, compression on adjacent structures, bleeding, thrombosis and consumptive coagulopathy. We report here on a case of isolated phlebectasia of the forearm and we briefly review the relevant literature.

Intravenous leiomyomatosis is a rare disease entity of benign smooth muscle invading into the lumen of veins. We describe a case of intravenous leiomyomatosis originating from the uterus, growing in the inferior vena cava, and extending into the right ventricle association with multiple pulmonary metastasis. A 53-year-old woman with chest discomfort and several times attacks of syncope was treated at our hospital. The tumor was successfully removed with moderate hypothermic cardiopulmonary bypass after total hysterectomy with a bilateral salphingo-oophorectomy, and multiple pulmonary metastasis under simultaneous sternotomy and laparotomy was confirmed.
