A Study on the Assembly Process and Reliability of COF (Chip-On-Flex) Using ACFs (Anisotropic Conductive Films) for CCM (Compact Camera Module) (ACF를 이용한 CCM (Compact Camera Module)용 COF(Chip-On-Flex) 실장 기술 및 신뢰성 연구)

  • In this paper, the Chip-On-Flex (COF) assembly process using anisotropic conductive films (ACFs) was investigated and the reliability of COF assemblies using ACFs was evaluated. Thermo-mechanical properties of ACFs such as coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE), storage modulus (E'), and glass transition temperature $(T_g)$ were measured to investigate the effects of ACF material properties on the reliability of COF assemblies using ACFs. In addition, the bonding conditions for COF assemblies using ACFs such as time, temperature, and pressure were optimized. After the COF assemblies using ACFs were fabricated with optimized bonding conditions, reliability tests were then carried out. According to the reliability test results, COF assemblies using the ACF which had lower CTE and higher $T_g$ showed better thermal cycling reliability. Consequently, thermo-mechanical properties of ACFs, especially $T_g$, should be improved for high thermal cycling reliability of COF assemblies using ACFs for compact camera module (CCM) applications.

The Effects of Light and Dark Adaptation upon the Compound Eye of Nilaparvata lugens (벼멸구 겹눈의 명적응과 암적응 효과)

  • The eyes of Nilaparvata lugens were examined for ultrastructural changes in the light and dark adapted states. Inspection of light microscope sections taken at similar levels of compound eyes from insects kept in light or darkness for periods up to 72 hors revealed some differences between light and dark adapted eyes. Using the electronmicroscope, in light adapted eyes the palisade layer was narrower than that in dark adapted eyes. The pigment granules still formed a ring around the palisade layer in the dark adapted eye but, they did not form a tight circle around the rhabdom. No constant difference was found between the diameters of the microvilli in light and dark adapted eyes. The pigment movements at the junction of the cone and the rhabdom took the effect on varying the pigment aperture at the tip of the cone in front of the rhabdom tip.

  • 광결정(photonic crystal)으로 광원의 자발 방출을 조절하면 문턱전류 없는 레이저, 고효율 다이오드, 파장 크기에서 손실 없이 급격히 꺾을 수 있는 광도파로 등 기존의 광소자에서 얻을 수 없는 좋은 성능을 얻을 수 있을 것으로 예상된다. 이러한 광결정은 유전체를 파장정도 크기에서 주기적으로 배치시킨 인공적인 결정인데 고체에서 원자의 주기적인 배치로 전자가 전파할 수 없는 진동수 영역, 즉 밴드갭이 생기는 것과 유사하게 빛에 대해서 빛이 전파할 수 없는 진동수 영역인 광밴드갭(photonic bandgap)을 가진다. 그런데 관심있는 광영역에서 3차원 모든 방향으로 광밴드갭이 있는 구조물은 마이크로미터보다 작은 내부 구조를 가지는 복잡한 3차원 구조물로 제작이 어렵다. 이러한 어려움을 극복하기 위해 제작이 비교적 용이한 3차원 광밴드갭 구조물이 찾아지고 있다. 다른 접근 방법으로 평면(x-y)에서는 2차원 광밴드갭을 이용하고 제 3의 방향(z축)으로는 전반사를 이용하는 구조는 제작이 용이할 뿐만 아니라 처음부터 광원의 편광을 TE 또는 TM 모드로만 방출 되도록 준비해 줄 수 있으면 거의 3차원 광결정에서 얻을 수 있는 효과를 낼 수 있는 것으로 발표되었다.$^{(1)}$ 이 방법을 이용하여 최근에 미국의 캘리포니아 공과대학(Caltech)을 중심으로 레이저 동작을 보여 주었다.$^{(2.3)}$ 공기로 둘러싸인 얇은 유전체 평판에서 생기는 전반사와 평판 위에 2차원 삼각형살창(triangular lattice)에 구멍을 뚫어 얻는 2차원 광밴드갭을 이용해 3차원 공진모드를 형성하였다. 이러한 구조에서 1개만 구멍을 매워서 만든 공진기는 저온(143 K)에서 레이저 발진을 보였고 여러 개의 구멍을 매운 경우는 상온에서 펌프 펄스의 유지시간이 0.5% 인 경우 레이저가 동작하는 것을 보여주었다. 이는 구조내에서 열전도가 문제가 된다는 것을 의미하는데 위아래가 공기로 둘러 싸여 있어 발생한 열이 가는 유전체 네트웍을 통해서만 전달 될 수 있기 때문이다.   • Stainless steel sheets are widely used as the structural material for railroad cars and commercial vehicles. Structures made of stainless steel sheets are commonly fabricated by gas welding, For the fatigue design of gas welded joints such as fillet joints, it is necessary to obtain design information of the stress distribution at the weldment as well as the fatigue strength of the gas-welded joints. Further, the influence of the geometrical parameters of gas-welded joints on stress distribution and fatigue strength must be evaluated. in this study, ${\Delta}P-N_f$ curves were obtained by fatigue tests. and, the ${\Delta}P-N_f$ curves were rearranged on the basis of the ${\Delta}{\sigma}-N_f$ relation for the hot-spot stresses at the gas-welded joints. These results, were used for conducting an accelerated life test(ALT) From the experiment results, an acceleration model was derived and factors were estimated. The objective is to obtain the information required for the analysis of the fatigue lifetime of fillet welded joints and for data analysis by the statistic reliability method to save time and cost and to develop optimum accelerated life prediction plans.

Cracking Near a Hole on a Heat- Resistant Alloy Subjected to Thermo-Mechanical Cycling (열 및 기계적 반복하중 하의 내열금속 표면 홀 주변 산화막의 변형 및 응력해석)

  • In the hot section of a gas turbine, the turbine blades were protected from high temperature by providing a thermal barrier coating (TBC) as well as by cooling air flowing through internal passages within the blades. The cooling air then passed through discrete holes on the blade surface, creating a film of cooling air that further protects the surface from the hot mainstream flow. The holes are subjected to stresses resulting from the lateral growth of thermally grown oxide, the thermal expansion misfit between the constituent layers, and the centrifugal force due to high-speed revolution; these stresses often result in cracking. In this study, the deformation and cracks occurring near a hole on a heat-resistant alloy subjected to thermo-mechanical cycling were investigated. The experiment showed that cracks formed around the hole depending on the applied stress level and the number of cycles. These results could be explained by our analytic solution.

플라즈마 대면부품 성능 평가를 위한 고열부하시험시설(KoHLT-EB) 구축

  • 우리나라는 미국, EU, 러시아, 중국, 인도 등 다국간 협력 사업인 국제핵융합실험로(ITER) 사업에 참여하고 있으며, 블랑켓 일차벽 및 시험용 블랑켓 모듈(Test Blanket Module, TBM) 제작기술 개발에 필요한 고열부하 검증시험을 국내에서 자체적으로 실시하기 위한 고열부하시험 시설을 구축하였다. 한국원자력연구원에 설치된 고열부하시험 시설의 주요 사양은 다음과 같다. 열원으로는 전자빔을 사용하며, 빔출력은 최대 300 kW이고, 최대 출력밀도는 $10GW/m^2$이다. 전자빔의 최대 가속전압은 60 kV이고, 최대 조사 면적은 설계상 $70cm{\times}50cm$이다. 고열부하 장비는 핵융합환경과 유사한 고열부하를 시험대상물에 인가하여 접합 및 냉각 성능을 평가하는 장비이며, ITER 블랑켓 및 TBM 일차벽의 경우 약 $0.5MW/m^2$, 가속실험 혹은 사고 시 순간 시나리오 해석을 위해서 $5MW/m^2$까지 고려되기도 한다. ITER 블랑켓 일차벽 제작기술 개발 및 검증(2004~2011)에서는 외국장비(러시아 TSEFEY, 일본 JEBIS, 독일 JUDITH)를 활용하였으나, 고비용 문제와 장비 이용 시간의 제한에 따라 사용이 어려워, 국내에서는 KoHLT-1, 2 장비를 자체 구축하여 활용하여 왔다. 현재는 높은 열부하 인가조건, 약 $5MW/m^2$을 달성하기 위해서 전자빔을 이용한 고열부하시험 장치를 마련하였으며, ITER 블랑켓 일차벽 Semi-Prototype 검증시험, TBM, KSTAR 디버터 실험 등 핵융합로 일차벽 개발에 활용하고 있다. 전자빔, 전원 및 진공 chamber 등 전체 고열부하 시험장치를 구축하여 ITER 장치를 포함해서 토카막 디버터 등 핵융합 플라즈마 대면부품 (Plasma Facing Components, PFC) 재료 개발과 국방, 항공우주 분야의 열유속 게이지 측정법 향상 연구, 로켓 추진 엔진 연소실의 열유속 모니터링 연구, 항공기 프로펠러 연구 등에 활용할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

A Study on Interfacial Reaction and Mechanical Properties of 43Sn-57Bi-X solder and Cu Substrate (Sn-Bi-X계 땜납과 Cu 기판과의 계면반응 및 기계적 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Interfacial reaction and mechanical properties between Sn-Bi-X ternary alloys(X : 2Cu. 2Sb 5In) and Cu-substrate were studied. Cu/solder joints were subjected to aging treatments for up to 60days to see interfacial reaction at $100^{\circ}C$ and then were examined changes of microstructure and interfacial compound by optical microscopy, SEM and EDS. Cu/solder joints were aged to 30days and then loaded to failure at cross head speed of 0.3mm $\textrm{min}^{-1}$ to measure strength and elongation. According to the result of EDS, it is supposed that the soldered interfacial zone was composed of $\textrm{Cu}_{3}\textrm{Sn}$ and $\textrm{Cu}_{6}\textrm{Sn}_{5}$. According to the tensile test of Cu/solder joint, joint strength was decreased by aging treatment. Fractographs of Cu/Sn-Bi solder detailed the effect of aging on fracture behavior. When intermetallic was thin, the fracture occurred through the solder. But as the interfacial intermetallic is thickened, the fracture propagated along the intermetallic/solder interface.

  • The key component of a direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) is the membrane electrode assembly (MEA), which comprises a polymer electrolyte membrane and catalyst layers (anode and cathode electrode). Generally the catalyst layer is coated on the porous electrode supporter (e.g. carbon paper or cloth) using various coating methods such as brushing, decal transfer, spray coating and screen printing methods. However, these methods were disadvantageous in terms of the uniformity of catalyst layer thickness, catalyst loss, and coating time. In this work, we used bar-coating method which can prepare the catalyst layer with uniform thickness for MEA of DMFC. The surface and cross-section morphologies of the catalyst layers were observed by SEM. The performances and resistance of the MEAs were investigated through a single cell evaluation and impedance analyzer.

  • Positive ion mass spectra of some corticosteroids were obtained by using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry(LC-MS). The base peak of each compound showed the protonated molecular ion [$MH^+$], ammonium adduct ion [${MNH_4}^+$] or [$MH^+-60$] ion according to its chemical structure and other characteristic mass ions were [$MH^+-18$], [${MNH_4}^+-18$] and so on. Several rat urinary metabolites of methylprednisolone acetate after the oral administration were detected by the thermospray LC-MS. The identified major metabolites were 20-hydroxymethylprednisolone(20-HMP), methylprednisolone(MP) and methylprednisone(11-KMP), which were supposed to be formed by deacetylation at the position of C-21, reduction at C-20, oxidation at C-11, or due to the bond cleavage between C-17 and C-20.

Fracture Behavior of Adhesive-Bonded Aluminum Foam with Double Cantilever Beam (접착제로 접합된 이중외팔보 알루미늄폼의 파괴 거동에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, closed-cell aluminum foam with an initial crack was investigated to produce an axial load-time graph. Using the 10-kN Landmarks of MTS Corporation, a 15-mm/min velocity of mode I shape was applied to the aluminum foam specimen using the displacement control method. ABAQUS 6.10 simulation was used to model and analyze the identical model in three dimensions under conditions identical to those of the experiment. The energy release rate was calculated on the basis of an axial load-displacement graph obtained from the experiment and a transient image of the crack length, and then an FE model was analyzed on the basis of this fracture energy condition. The relation between load and displacement was discussed; it was found that the aluminum foam deformed somewhat less than the adhesive layer owing to the difference in elastic modulus.
