A Study on the Location of Supporting Members in Monoleaflet Polymer Valve to Minimize Stress and Deformation (응력과 변형을 최소화하기 위한 단엽식 고분자 판막의 지지대 위치에 관한 연구)

  • A monoleaflet polymer artificial heart valve showed the remarkable improvement in pressure drop compared with other types of artificial valve. So, in this study we designed a monoleaflet polymer artificial valve with two supporting members to minimize the deformation and bending stress of the valve with respect to the variation of the gap between two supporting members using nonlinear contact analysis. The marginal valve thickness was also predicted in accordance with the relationship between the thickness and horizontal displacement in order to prevent the dislocation of the valve tip from the frame wall.

  • 인터넷의 활성화로 많은 사람들이 인터넷을 이용하고 이에 따라 인터넷을 이용한 서비스도 홍수를 이루고 있다. 이에 따라 인터넷을 상업적 목적으로 사용하는 서비스도 증가하고 있다. 그러나 많은 인터넷 서비스들이 고객들에게 획일적이고 일률적인 서비스만을 제공한다. 각각의 고객에게 취향과 관심분야에 따른 차별화 된 서비스가 필요로 한다. 각 고객에게 1대 1로 차별화 된 service를 제공하기 위해서 먼저 각 고객을 구별하고 그 고객의 취향과 관심분야의 파악을 위해서 인터넷에서의 행동을 관찰한다. 또한 고객의 관리를 위해 고객을 필요에 따라 그룹화하고, 고객과 직접 접촉을 통해 고객 정보를 파악할 수도 있다. 파악된 고객 정보의 효율적 저장과 분석을 위해서 decision tree를 이용해 학습을 한다. 고객의 행동의 특성상 incremental한 학습 알고리즘을 사용하며 고객의 선호도를 이용한 decision tree를 이용한다. 학습된 결과를 이용해서 1대 1 서비스를 제공함으로써 고객에서 편리성을 제공하고 서비스에 대한 친밀감과 고객의 흥미를 유발할 수 있다.

  • An HTS conductor with parallel HTS tapes is essential for a large power HTS device to flow a large current. One of the most important factor for this conductor is a current distribution. Non-uniform current distribution in parallel tapes makes the critical current of the conductor low and the AC losses high. In this paper we proposed a non-contact method which measured each current in parallel tapes by using an array of Hall sensors. A matrix can be derived from this array for calibration. The current distributions of 4 and 6 parallel tapes were measured.

Management of Tuberculosis Outbreak in a Small Military Unit Following the Korean National Guideline (국내 결핵관리지침에 따른 군내 결핵 집단발병 관리 사례 보고)

  • Background: Korean national guidelines for examining contacts with active pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) are a tuberculin skin test (TST) and chest radiographs. The treatment of a latent TB infection as performed only in those younger than six years of age who test positive for TST. Although there is a high incidence of active TB in young Korean soldiers, the current national guidelines for controlling contacts with active TB in soldiers are insufficient. This study highlights the problems with the Korean guidelines for controlling a TB outbreak in a small military unit. Material and Methods: In December of 2005, there was a tuberculosis outbreak in a military unit with a total of 464 soldiers in Kyung Gi province. The chest radiographs were taken of all the soldiers, and TST were carried out on 408 candidates. Results: In the first screening of the chest radiographs, two active TB patients were detected. By August of 2006, four additional cases were detected, making a total of six cases after the outbreak. All the patients showed active pulmonary TB or TB pleuritis. When the results of TST in the close contacts and non-close contacts were compared, there was a significant difference in the absolute size of the induration($9.70{\pm}7.50mm$ vs. $6.26{\pm}7.02mm$, p<0.001) as well as the ratio of patients showing an induration > 10mm (50.0% vs. 32.0%, p<0.001) and 15mm (33.2% vs. 20.9%, p= 0.005). Conclusion: Although the national guidelines for managing a TB outbreak in a military unit were followed, there were continuous instances of new active TB cases. This highlights the need for new guidelines to prevent the spread of TB.

Review of the CO2 Geological Storage Using Nanoparticle-stabilized CO2 Foam (나노입자기반 CO2 폼을 이용한 CO2 지중저장에 대한 기술적 고찰)

  • When CO2 foam is injected into the saline aquifer, the relative permeability of CO2 decreases and its viscosity increases, thereby reducing mobility in porous media and ultimately improving CO2 storge with enhanced sweep efficiency. In general, surfactants were used to fabricate CO2 foam. Recently, nanoparticles have been used to form stable foam than surfactant. This paper introduces CO2 storage technology using nanoparticle stabilized CO2 foam. If the surface of the hydrophilic nanoparticles is partially modified into a CO2-philic portion, the particles have an affinity for CO2 and water, thus forming a stable CO2 foam even in deep saline aquifers under high temperature and high salinity conditions, thereby it can be stored in the pores of the rock. In terms of economics, injection method using nanopaticle-stabilized CO2 foam is more expensive than the conventional CO2 injection, but it is estimated that it will have price competitiveness because the injection efficiency is improved. From an environmental point of view, it is possible to inject chemical substances such as surfactants and nanomaterials into aquifers or reservoirs for specific purposes such as pollutant removal and oil production. However, some studies have shown that nanoparticles and surfactants are toxic to aquatic animals, so environmentally proven substances should be used. Therefore, further research and development will be needed to study the production and injection of nanoparticle-stabilized CO2 foam that are environmentally safe and economically reasonable.

Influences of Air Pollution on the Growth of Ornamental Trees - With Particular Reference to SO2 - (대기오염(大氣汚染)이 조경수목(造景樹木)의 생육(生育)에 미치는 영향(影響) - 아황산(亞黃酸)가스에 대(對)하여 -)

  • For the purpose of detecting the capability of the trees to resist air pollution and of determining the tree species best suited for purification of polluted air, particularly with regard to $SO_2$ contamination, six following ornamental tree species were selected as experimental materials: i.e., Hibiscus syriacus L., Ginkgo biloba L., Forsythia koreana Nak., Syringa dilatata Nak., Larix leptolepis Gordon, and Pinus rigida Miller. The susceptiblities of the trees were observed and analyzed on the basis of area ratio of smoke injury spots to the total leaf area. The results of the experiments are as follows: I. The Susceptibilities to Sulfur Dioxide. (1) The decreasing order of tolerance to $SO_2$ by species was as follows: 1. Hibiscus syriacus 2. Ginkgo biloba, 3. Forsythia koreana, 4. Syringa dilatata, 5. Larix leptolepis, and 6. Pinus rigida. In general, Hibiscus syriacus and Ginkgo biloba can be grouped as the most resistant and Larix leptolepis and Pinus rigida as the least resistant and Forsythia koreana and Syringa dilatata as of intermediate resistance. (2) The sulfur content of the leaves treated by $SO_2$ increased in proportion to the increase of the concentration of the fumigation. The content in the coniferous species proved to be less than that of the broad-leaved species, but Ginkgo biloba proved to contain as much sulfur as broad-leaved species. (3) The earlier-stage leaves fumigated in June with the $SO_2$ concentration up-to-l-ppm showed that sulfur content increases in proportion to the increase of the concentration of the fumigation, but the difference between concentration was not so significant. (4) The later-stage leaves fumigated in October showed higher sulfur content than the earlier stage leaves, and a wider range of difference in sulfur content was detected among different concentrations. The limit of fumigation resulting in culmination of sulfur absoption in broad-leaved species, such as Syringa dilatata, Hibiscus syriacus, and Forsythia koreana proved to be around 0.6 ppm. (5) Due to the sprouting ability and the adventitious bud formation, the recovery from $SO_2$ fumigation was prominent in Hibiscus syriacus, Syringa dilatata, and Forsythia koreana. (6) The differences in the smoke spot color were recognized by species: namely, dirt-brown in Syringa dilatata, brilliant yellowish-brown in Pinus rigida and Ginkgo biloba, whitish-yellow in Hibiscus syriacus and reddish-brown in Forsythia koreana. (7) The leaf margins proved to be most susceptible, and the leaf bases of the mid-rib most tolerant. In both Ginkgo biloba and Larix leptolepis, the younger leaves were more resistant to $SO_2$ than the older ones. II. The ulfur Content of the Leaves of the Ornamental Trees Growing in the City of Seoul. (1) The sulfur contents in the leaves of the Seoul City ornamental trees showed a remarkably higher value than those of the leaves in the non-polluted areas. The sulfur content of the leaves in the non-polluted area proved to be in the following descending order: Salix pseudo-lasiogyne Leveille, Ginkgo biloba L., Alianthus altissima swingle, Platanus orientalis L., and Populus deltoides Marsh. (2) In respect to the sulfur contents in the leaves of the ornamental trees in the city of Seoul, the air pollution proved to be the worst in the areas of Seoul Railroad Station, the Ahyun Pass, and the Entrance to Ewha Womans University. The areas of Deogsu Palace, Gyeongbog Palace, Changdeog Palace, Changgyeong Park and the Hyehwa Intersection were least polluted, and the areas of the East Gate, the Ulchi Intersection and the Seodaemun Intersection are in the intermediate state.

  • The polymer-light emtting diodes(PLEDs) were comprised a design of OLED array, process develop by using ITO thin glass, and fabrication of PDMS stamp by using nanocontact printing. In the study, we describe a different approach for building OLEDs, which is based on physical lamination of thin metal electrodes supported by a PDMS stamp layer against an electroluminescent organic. We develop that devices fabricated in this manner have better performance than those constructed with standard processing techniques. The lamination approach avoids forms of disruption that can be introduced at the electrode organic interface by metal evaporation and has a reduced sensitivity to pinhole or partial pinhole defects. Also, it is easy to build patterned PLED with feature sizes into the nanometer regime. This method provides a new route to PLED for applications ranging from high performance displays to storage and lithography systems, and PLED can used for organic electronics and flexible display.

  • CTI(Computer and Telephony Integration) 기술이 1970년대 처음 선 보인 이래, 정보통신 기술의 눈부신 발전과 함께 그 인기가 날로 높아져 가고 있다. 정보기술(Information Technology)의 발전으로 향상된 컴퓨터의 기능을 활용한 다양한 서비스가 출현하면서 고객과 기업간의 상호 접촉이 증가되고 있다. 과거의 CTI기술은 Inbound 위주의 Voice and Call Communication 만을 위한 소극적인 개념이었으나, 현재의 대 다수의 기업들은 좀더 발전된 CTI 기술을 활용하고 있다. 최근 들어 기업간의 경쟁이 치열해지고 고객에 대한 우위를 높이기 위해 새로운 돌파구가 필요했다. 이에 대한 경영 솔루션으로, 인터넷 환경을 통합한 CITI(Computer and Internet Telephony Integration)와 eCRM 개념을 활용한 시스템의 사용으로 질 높은 서비스와 매출증대, 경비절감 등과 같은 경쟁력을 개선시킬 수 있었다. 본 논문은 CTI 기술과 CRM 개념을 활용한 시스템을 설계 구현하였다 이는, 전화의 호 전송, 호수신, 호 전달 등의 기능과 CTI 와 사설교환기(PBX)의 링크를 통합한 시스템이다. 제안된 시스템은 콜센터(Call Center)나 기타 고객의 접촉이 집중된 기업에 응용 되도록 설계되었다.

Mechanical characteristics of involute-circular arc composite tooth profile (인벌류우트-圓弧 合成齒形의 諸特性)

  • In this study, full-rounded tip curve of rack and its mating fillet curve of pinion in Involute-circular arc composite tooth profile are derived. Mechanical characteristics are calculated analytically, i.e., Specific sliding, Nominal bending stress at working root circle and the Contact factor of the arc of contact in circular arc part to the arc of double contact. These characteristics compared with standard involute tooth profile are improved in circular arc part of composite tooth profile. To obtain more efficient composite tooth profile, we studied these characteristics with regard to the changes of unwound angle and radius of circualr arc. And a design method of composite tooth profile is suggested. Composite tooth profile are compared with standard involute tooth profile.

  • This study presents a process control of the wafer edge exposure (WEE) used in 300[mm] wafer environment. WEE, as a key module of the overall track system (coater and developer) for making patterns on wafer, is a system to expose the UV-ray on the wafer to remove a photo resist around edge of the wafer. It can measure, memorize and control the distance and angles from wafer center to edge. Recently in the 300[mm] semiconductor fabrication, the track system strongly requires that WEE station has a controller with high throughput and accuracy to increase process efficiency. We have designed and developed the controller, and present here a WEE control algorithm and experimental results.
