Review on The Measurement of Wood Shrinkage (목재수축률 측정에 대한 총설)

  • The goal of this study was to review the wood shrinkage published in Journal of The Korean Wood Science and Technology from 1976 to 2015. Previous studies reported that shrinkage from Larix kaempferi in the tangential, radial, longitudinal directions ranged from 4.21%-9.79%, 2.09%-4.67%, 0.17%-0.33%, respectively. When different drying methods including closed cylinder drying, oven drying, and room temperature drying were used, volumetric shrinkage of Dipterocarpus grandiflorus was different, ranging from 31.6% to 21.0%. With an increment of the drying temperature of $115^{\circ}C$, $120^{\circ}C$, $125^{\circ}C$, the shrinkage of Larix kaempferi did not show a consistent trend. When sample size of Pinus densiflora was increased from $20{\times}20{\times}20mm$ to $100{\times}100{\times}100mm$, the tangential, radial and volumetric shrinkage decreased 2.61%, 1.32%, 0.80%, respectively. When a caliper having a sensitivity of 0.01 mm was used to measure $20mm^3$ specimen from Cryptomeria japonica, the measurement error occurred 1.97% in the radial direction and 35.7% in the longitudinal direction. From the previous studies, wood shrinkage could be influenced by sample size, drying method and measurement technique.

  • In this study, the hydraulic model test was performed for the 3 vertical inlets of the Shinwol rainwater storage & drainage system that Seoul City plans to install, and the control discharge value actually measured was analyzed comparing to the value obtained using the theoretical control discharge equation suggested by Yu and Lee (2009). In the results, it was 66~69% compared to the value obtained from theoretical equation showing that the control discharge value according to the theoretical equation is calculated excessively. The sensitivity analysis by design factor was performed using 3 models conducted in this study and 15 hydraulic experiment models conducted in existing research Yu and Lee (2009). The sensitivity analysis of control discharge equation was performed by dividing $Q_{cm}/Q_{cp}$ into 3 ranges. The suggested equation considered only the influence on the tangential intake structure design factor B, z, ${\beta}$, e/B, so ${\theta}$, L considered complex influence suggested equation needed to be more improved.

Results of Cold Flow Test and Design of Injectors for Oxidizer-rich Preburner (산화제 과잉 예연소기용 분사기 설계 및 수류 시험 결과)

  • This paper presents the design and cold flow test results of oxidizer-rich preburner injectors for a 9 tonf-class staged combustion engine cycle. Three types of coaxial swirl injectors were designed, and 12 injectors were designed for each type. The diameters of the fuel tangential holes are identical. The diameters of the oxidizer tangential holes were varied to investigate the influence of combustion in the oxidizer-rich preburner according to the momentum ratio of the gas oxidizer generated from combustion in the injector chamber and liquid oxidizer through the cooling channel. It will be verified through a powerpack and combustion test using an oxidizer-rich preburner. In the cold flow test, the fuel flow rate and oxidizer tangential hole flow rate reached the target value based on the designed differential pressure.

Application of Slip-line Method to the Evaluation of Plastic Zone around a Circular Tunnel (원형터널 주변의 소성영역 평가를 위한 slip-line 해석법 활용)

  • The generalized Hoek-Brown (GHB) criterion, which is recognized as one of the standard failure conditions for rock mass, is specialized for rock engineering applications and covers a wide range of rock mass conditions. Accordingly, many research efforts have been devoted to the incorporation of this criterion into the stability analysis of rock structures. In this study, the slip-line analysis method, which is a kind of elastoplastic analysis method, is combined with the GHB failure criterion to derive analytical equations that can easily calculate the plastic radius and stress distribution in the vicinity of the circular tunnel. In the process of derivation of related formulas, it is assumed that the behavior of rock mass after failure is perfectly plastic and the in-situ stress condition is hydrostatic. In the formulation, it is revealed that the plastic radius can be calculated analytically using the two respective tangential friction angles corresponding to the stress conditions at tunnel wall and elastic-plastic boundary. It is also shown that the plastic radius and stress distribution calculated using the derived analytical equations coincide with the results of Lee & Pietruszczak's numerical method published in 2008. In the latter part of this paper, the influence of the quality of the rock mass on the size of the plastic zone, the stress distribution, and the change of the tangential friction angle was investigated using the derived analytical equations.

Improving the Accuracy of the Mohr Failure Envelope Approximating the Generalized Hoek-Brown Failure Criterion (일반화된 Hoek-Brown 파괴기준식의 근사 Mohr 파괴포락선 정확도 개선)

  • The Generalized Hoek-Brown (GHB) criterion is a nonlinear failure criterion specialized for rock engineering applications and has recently seen increased usage. However, the GHB criterion expresses the relationship between minimum and maximum principal stresses at failure, and when GSI≠100, it has disadvantage of being difficult to express as an explicit relationship between the normal and shear stresses acting on the failure plane, i.e., as a Mohr failure envelope. This disadvantage makes it challenging to apply the GHB criterion in numerical analysis techniques such as limit equilibrium analysis, upper-bound limit analysis, and the critical plane approach. Consequently, recent studies have attempted to express the GHB Mohr failure envelope as an approximate analytical formula, and there is still a need for continued interest in related research. This study presents improved formulations for the approximate GHB Mohr failure envelope, offering higher accuracy in predicting shear strength compared to existing formulas. The improved formulation process employs a method to enhance the approximation accuracy of the tangential friction angle and utilizes the tangent line equation of the nonlinear GHB failure envelope to improve the accuracy of shear strength approximation. In the latter part of this paper, the advantages and limitations of the proposed approximate GHB failure envelopes in terms of shear strength prediction accuracy and calculation time are discussed.

  • Fused deposition modelling(FDM) is a rapid prototyping(RP) process that fabricates part layer by layer by deposition of molte thermoplastic material extrude from a nozzle. RP system has benefits.   • Presented in this paper is the process planning for multi-weldline/multi-pass robot welding. First, downhand welding for welding quality and stability for welding productivity, the two concept of process planning for single-weldling/single-pass robot weldling are derived. Next, process planning procedure for single-weldling/single-pass robot weldling is proposed and the procedure is extended for multi-weldling and/or multi-pass robot welding.

  • The effect of tangential loading on the subsurface stress field has been investigated numerically. As tangential load increases, the subsurface stress field expands more widely to the direction of the tangential load. Places of the maximum shear stress and the maximum effective stress are getting closer to the surface with the increasing tangential load. The tangential load in an elasto-hydrodynamic lubrication condition is so low that it does not affect the subsurface stress field.

스월 인젝터의 Recess변화가 미립화에 미치는 영향

  • 동축형 인젝터는 이미 여러 발사체에서 널리 쓰이고 있는 인젝터의 한 형태로서 또 다른 인젝터 방식인 충돌형과 비교하여 구조가 복잡한 단점이 있는 반면에 연소 현상의 불안정성에 대해 덜 민감하며 미립화와 혼합의 특성도 우수하다. 이런 동축형 인젝터는 크게 스월 방식과 shear 방식으로 나누어진다. 이중에서 스월 인젝터는 산화제와 연료의 유입구에 접선 방향의 속도를 줌으로써 conical sheet 형태의 분무장을 형성하여 미립화와 혼합을 꾀하는 방식이다. 이와 같은 스월 인젝터에서 중요한 변수 중에 하나인 recess의 변화에 대해 분무 형상과 미립화 혼합특성까지 파악해보았다.
