  • Recent development in Japan on jumbo formulation of pesticides for paddy application by hand throw was reviewed. In addition, the diffusion of liquid formulations in water was examined to establish the research strategy for the jumbo formulation. Research on jumbo formulation in Japan has been focused on gas-generating formulations and self-emulsifiable formulations. Although continuous efforts to minimize the problem of pesticide deposit on the treated site have been made for the gas-generating formulations, much work is still needed to establish a generally acceptable formulation method and to commercialize a herbicide formulation. The self-emulsifiable jumbo formulations have recently been investigated. These formulations could simply be processed and showed relatively high biological efficacy. The emulsifiable concentrate was more diffusible than the suspension concentrate in water. The diffusion of the emulsifiable concentrate was not greatly disturbed by floating obstacles. And the diffusion rate was high when the specific grabity was lower than one.

  • A taxonomic review of the family Sillaginidae was carried out based on two species (Sillago japonica and S. parvisquamis) collected in the coastal waters of Korea from 2008 to 2009 and three species (S. parvisquamis, S. aeolus and S. sihama) kept in the museum. Sillago japonica was easily distinguished from S. parvisquamis and S. sihama by lateral line scales (70~73 in S. japonica vs. 77~81 in S. parvisquamis vs. 67~70 in S. sihama) and scales above lateral line (3~4 vs. 7 vs. 5~6, respectively). Sillago aeolus differed from the other three species in having dark brown blotches on the side of body. We newly found morphological differences in some measurements (snout length, pectoral fin length and $2^{nd}$ anal spine length) and the number of vertebrae between Korean and Japanese S. parvisquamis, suggesting the two may be different populations. Although four sillaginid species are known from Korea, only two species (S. japonica and S. parvisquamis) were found in this study; accordingly, the distribution of the remaining two species (S. sihama and S. aeolus) may be restricted to subtropical waters.

  • With the advent of high speed networking technology, computers connected to the high-speed networks tend to consume more of their CPU cycles to process data. So one of the solutions to improve the performance of the computers is to reduce the CPU cycles for processing the data. As the consumption of the CPU cycles is increased in proportion to the number of the packets per second to be processed, reducing the number of the packets per second by increasing the length of the packet is one of the solutions. In order to meet this requirement, two types of jumbo packets such as jumbograms and jumbo frames have already been standardized or being discussed. In case that the jumbograms and general packets are interleaved and scheduled together in a router, the jumbogrms may deteriorate the QoS of the general packets due to the transfer delay. They also frequently exhaust the memory with storing the huge length of the packets. This produces the congestion state easily in the router that results in the loss of the packets. In this paper, we analyze the problems in processing the jumbo packets and suggest a noble solution to overcome the problems.

  • Drilling operation for blasting is an important factor to determine blast effect. Drilling errors that arise from performing drilling for blasting purposes can reduce blasting effect causing residual holes, overbreak, and heterogeneous fragmentation, etc. Automatic drilling system was induced for precise drilling. As a result, drilling error caused by spaces between holes and burden was minor at 0~2.6% and accordingly, blasting effect was improved with over 90% drilling rate, the ratio of overbreak amount to total drilling amount at 4.3%, proportion of fragmentation rock under 50cm at 89~95% and so from this analyses, it was estimated to reduce the total cycle times related to blasting process.

  • This study was done to identify differences in depression, anxiety, and stress in Korea elders (n=55) and New Zealand elders (n=55). Methods: This study was conducted from January 24th, 2013 to February 10th, 2013. We individually matched Korea elders to New Zealand elders based on age and sex, and assessed a questionnaire regarding depression, anxiety, and stress. Results: The average depress score for the Korea elders (13.67/42) was significantly different to the average for the New Zealand elders (4.70/42). The average anxiety score for the Korea elders (11.42/42) was significantly different to the average score for the New Zealand elders (4.92/42). The average stress score for the Korea elders (13.54/42) was significantly different to the average score for the New Zealand elders (5.40/42). The depression score showed a significant relationship with anxiety and stress. There was significantly positive correlation between anxiety and stress. The study suggests that should be considered in developing nursing intervention to manage depress, anxiety, and stress of the Korea elderly people.
