엔드밀링 절삭력에 미치는 공구형상오차 I -상향 엔드밀링- (Effects of cutter runout on end milling forces I -Up and milling-)

  • In end milling process, the undeformed chip section area and cutting forces vary periodically with phase change of the tool. However the real undeformed chip section area deviates from the geometrically ideal one owing to cutter runout and tool shape error. In this study ,a method of estimating the real undeformed chip section area which reflects cutter runout and tool shape error was presented in up end milling process using measured cutting forces. Size effect was identified from the analysis of specific cutting resistance obtained by using the modified undeformed chip section area.

  • To make high accuracy cutting of long materials and a piston for the engines it must be necessary to keep the thermal stability of spindle and tail stock in CNC lathe. If a object is clamped at the ends the thermal expansion and cutting process generate the deflection of cutting objects. Especially in the case of a piston ring piston ovality and piston profile the influences of deflection are very serious. In order to solve the problems most of piston cutting are worked under simply support. However the prob-lems exist yet. Therefore this paper proposes the new structure of tail stock which can compensates the deflection.

  • High speed and heavy cutting performed for improving the surface quality and productivity, are often prevented due to chatter phenomena. Chatter is a violent relative vibration between workpiece and tool in machining of metals, and is an important limiting factor of production rate and surface quality, and reduces the tool life and the dynamic performance of machine tool itself. In this study, in order to suppress the chatter, a modified tool-post combined with the spring and damper was designed and used in the actual cutting test. The results of this study are summerized as follows; The spring and damper adopted in the modified tool-post have the suppressing effects of chatter, and there exists an optimum combination between spring constant and damping ratio.

  • There are many methods in measuring the signal of cutting, but by measuring the multi-signal, we can pick up the wear and chipping of the tool more accurately. Hence, the present study is concerned with analysing the dynamic component as well as the static component measured by the tool dynamometer, finding out which signal is involved in each component, comparing the capability of the cemented carbide drill and the HSS drill, and discussing the chipping of the cemented carbide drill. In addition, discussion is made about the characteristics of the frequency of the torque and thrust in connection with the dynamic component.

  • A machine tool has some serous stability problem in the from of tool chatter during the cutting process. Chatter vibration deteriorates the surface finish, reduce tool and machine life, accelerate machine tool system component wear, and may lead to an unacceptable noise sound in the working environment. In this study, in order to moni색 of the chatter vibration on the cutting process, the behavior of spectral density of AE signal and principal cutting force signal has been investigated. Furthermore, its reliability from obtained the results has been studied to evaluate and confirm the proposed method with the application procedure and the experimental results.

  • By using AIP(Arc Ion Plating) of a physical vapor deposition for the first time in Korea a ceramic tool whose surface is coated single layeredly with TiN is developed. In addition, cutting resistance appearing in the process of finishing cut of hardened carbon tool steel, STC3 is studied. The principal and radial components of cutting resistance in those cutting conditions appear to be the same or similar, and the feed component is relatively small. The feed component is found to be in proportion to cutting width, and the radial component in proportion to cutting thickness. Owing to coating the cutting resistance of a TiN coated ceramic tool increases compared with that of a general ceramic tool.

런아웃을 고려한 측면 엔드밀 가공의 절삭력 분석 (An Analysis of the Cutting Force for Peripheral End-milling Considering Run-out)

  • The cutting force for peripheral end-milling considering run-out property was estimated and its result was compared with that of measured one. An experimental coefficient modelling was used for the formulation of theoretical end-milling force by considering the specific cutting force coefficient. Also, the specific cutting force, that is the multiplication of specific cutting force coefficient and uncut chip thickness, was used for the prediction of end-milling force. The end-milling force mechanics with run-out was presented for the estimation of theoretical force in peripheral end-milling by considering the geometric shape of the workpiece part. As a result, the estimated end-milling force shows a good consistency with the measured one. And it can be used for the prediction of force history in end-milling with run-out which incurs different start and exit immersion angle in entering and exiting condition.

  • Spindle units of machine tool are very important part in the manufacturing area. Recently high speed machining has become the main issue of metal cutting. To develop high speed machine tools, a lot of studies have been carried out for high speed spindle. Due to increase of the rotational speed of the spindle, there has been renewal of interest in tooling system of high speed spindle. This paper concerns the static stiffness in the main spindle interface according to variation of clamping force, rotational speed and tool holder shank. Finite element analysis is performed by using a commercial code ANSYS workbench. From the results, it has been shown that the geometry of tool holder shank is mostly influence on the variation of the static stiffness in the main spindle interface.

다중 코팅된 $Si_3N_4-TiC$ 세라믹의 특성 (Characteristics of Multilayer Coated $Si_3N_4-TiC$ Ceramic)

  • 화학증착법에 의해 $Si_3N_4-TiC$ 복합재료 위에 코팅된 TiC 박막은 TiN 박막에 비하여 우수한 미세구조와 열충격저항, 계면결합을 가지고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 화학증착법에 의한 TiN 박막은 TiC 박막에 비해 강철과의 마찰계수가 작고 화학적으로 안정하였다. 실험결과는 코팅된 절삭공구가 우수한 내 마모성을 갖고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 다중 코팅된 절삭공구는 단일 코팅된 공구보다 우수한 내 마모성을 보였다
