The Generation of Test Case Flow Using Classification Tree Method and Functional Analysis for River Crossing of Wheeled-Vehicle (분류트리기법(CTM)과 기능분석을 활용한 차륜형 전투차량 수상운행 테스트 케이스 플로우 생성에 관한 연구)

  • Designing test case flows for water crossing operation of a wheeled vehicle is a new attempt for which very limited experiences exist. In this paper, a Function Flow Block Diagram(FFBD) and a Classification Tree Method(CTM) were combined to see if this method is viable to generate the test case flows at the functional analysis stage. It was found that this method can be practically used for the very complicated test case generation.

  • The river crossing is a very challenging operational function for the ground wheeled vehicle. In this study, the typical hazardous elements were identified by analysing the functional flow of river crossing operation and the survey on the similar operational experiences in real fields. The identified hazardous elements were reviewed on the basis of ALARP concept and reduction approaches were recommended for limited cases.

  • This paper presents a ballistic lead-computation method which utilizes automatic video tracking, tracking assistance and roll uncoupling. The method is able to improve the firing accuracy of army fighting vehicles such as main battle tanks. In the experiment, the efficiency of the proposed method is evaluated by an error analysis in real operating environment. The proposed method has been applied to the fire control system of a military vehicle and proved through the development test of the vehicle.

  • The use of robot is no longer limited in the industrial scene, and becoming expanded toward many aspects of human life. Especially, military robot closely concerned with our lives seems to advance more and more in the future. As a need analysis for developing military robot, this project conducted a poll about Unmanned Reconnaissance Robot, and on the basis of the result, I suggested 3 directions of developing UGV(Unmanned Ground Vehicle) suitable to strategic environment of Korea.

  • In this paper, we have proposed a simple finite element model for separation mode analysis on the roadwheel and track assembly of main battle tank and established a contact stress-based mechanism which could explain the initiation and growth of separation defect occurred during the test of padreplacable track. It was proved that the longitudinal contact shear stress component on the pin hole region of the track shoe body which is parallel to the driving direction is consistent with the crack initiation at the bonding surface between track shoe and wheel-side rubber. The longitudinal shear stress increased locally near the separated region after the separation initiated. So we could assume that the local stress concentration accelerates the separation growth according to the shear mode.

Therefore, the trend of technologies for unmanned ground combat vehicle was analyzed in this research. It was based on the submitted patents from 1988 to 2008 in Korea, U.S.A, Japan, Europe, Canada and Israel.   • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to propose a sensor fusion algorithm that integrates vehicle motion sensor(VMS) into the hybrid navigation system. Methods: How to evaluate the navigation performance was comparison test with the hybrid navigation system and the sensor fusion method. Results: The results of this study are as follows. It was found that the effects of the sensor fusion method and α value estimation were significant. Applying these greatly improves the navigation performance. Conclusion: For improving the reliability of navigation system, the sensor fusion method shows that the proposed method improves the navigation performance in a combat vehicle.

  • The vetronics is necessarily required for enhancement of the operational capability and optimization of the system architecture. In this paper, we presents the realtime control methods for the vetronics of the fighting vehicles. We proposed the data distribution based on standard bus and computer resource for realtime and integrated control of the system. Embedded computers are designed considering extensibility and reliability of the system. The integrated display improves the operator's capability. We applied the network centric battle management and digital power control with intelligent switching elements to increase cooperated combat efficiency and reliability. To show the feasibility of the presented design schemes, the vetronics has been implemented and applied to a real fighting vehicle.

A Study on the Property Change of the Transparent Film for Vehicle Cover according to Weathering Test (차량 덮개용 투명 필름 내후 시험에 따른 물성변화 연구)

  • In this study, we evaluated and analyzed the properties of polymeric transparent films used in military vehicle covers according to weathering test. Two types of polymer films (Film A and Film B) that are mostly used for military vehicle covers were selected. The weathering treatment condition and tester are described in KS K 0706, and the following weathering times were tested: 0hour, 40hours, 160hours and 320 hours. The tensile strength, elongation and thermal decomposition behavior and optical characteristics were analyzed. The tensile strength tended to decrease - increase - decrease with increasing weathering treatment time in both transparent films. The thermal decomposition temperature gradually decreased. Regarding the optical property, the light transmittance decreased and the haze tended to increase. However, film A showed almost similar optical characteristics after 160-hour weathering treatment.

  • In Korea, the birth rate is rapidly decreasing in the 21st century. Accordingly, if the current military service and personnel system are maintained, it will be difficult to maintain even the number of the Army reduced to 365,000. Nevertheless, the Army has a mission to protect the country from external aggression as the last bastion of national defense. To fulfill this mission, there are ways to improve the military service and personnel system, but there are ways to maximize individual combat power to create one warrior that is worth a hundred and overcome the insufficient number of troops through superior mobility to the enemy. This study studied how to solve the shortage of troops as well as strengthen combat power through a combined combat system that can maximize individual combat power and mobility by applying the latter concept, and further analyzed the future battle environment and suggested the developmental direction of the army's combined combat system.
