The objective of this study was to examine the growth reaction of strawberry plants to the mixed red and blue LED sources and their installation method. The artificial light sources were : LED PAR(PPFD $2{\sim}4{\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$), LED BAR(PPFD $100{\sim}120{\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$) and incandescent(PPFD $2{\sim}4{\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$) lamp. The lighting treatment was started at the first cluster flowering period as a night breaking lighting and was applied during 3 hours, between 22:00 and 01:00 every day. Plant height and leafstalk length were longer in plants treated with incandescent lamp, where as fresh and dry weight of shoot were heavier in LED PAR compared to incandescent lamp treatment. LED PAR treatment also resulted in the largest leaf area, chlorophyll content was increased by $0.36mg{\cdot}g^{-1}$ after 60 days from the starting of the artificial lighting. According to the experimental results application of 16W LED PAR lamps and W-type installation method can improve light environment in strawberry lighting culture.
The study was carried out to find compositions of proximate components, free amino acid, and essential oils from root of Anthriscus sylvestylis. Proximate component contents were 7.69% for protein, 1.74% for fat, 2.44% for fiber, and 3.76% for ash. Extract content was 27.68% in fresh root. The compositions of free amino acids consisted 16 kinds. Phenylalanine content was the highest in composition of free amino acids. The essential oils of the root of Anthriscus sylvestylis was examined. $\alpha$-pinene, campreol, ,$\beta$-pinene, sabinene, myrcene, phellandrene, $\alpha$-terpinolene, d-limone, ${\gamma}$-terpinene, p-cymene, $\alpha$-terpinolene, carboxaldehyde, 3-cyc1ohexen-l-carboxaldehyde, 2-nonenal, isobornyl acetate, 4-terpineol, $\beta$-bisabolene, cis-piperitol, p-cymen-8-ol, BHT, methyl eugenol and 2-methoxy-4-vinyl-phenol were identified from the diethylether layers. Recovery yield of essential oils of Anthriscus sylvestylis of root was 0.58%. As a result, it was considered that the plant is worthy of cultivating as spice and medicinal crops.
Motivated by the need for developing the more efficient lighting system for light culture in the greenhouses, this paper aims to predict the illumination of incandescent lamp according to various levels of lighting and various kinds of the lamp. The results obtained in this experiment are summarized as follows. 1. The general equation to predict the illumination according to the kind of incandescent lamp and the installation height was suggested as {{{{y= { a + bx+ cx^2} over { 1+dx+ex^2~ + fx^3} [lx]}}}} , where , a, b, c , d, e and of were arbitrary constants. 2. Maximum illumination of hat-covered lamp of 60 W was 1.2 -1.5 times as many as uncovered lamp. 3. Maximum illumination of yellow color painted lamp of 100 W was 1.3 times as many as unpainted lamp.
Seedlings of strawberry, 'Reiko' were planted in plastic pots of 24 cm in diameter in the middle of September in 1995, 1996, and 1997. Ten plants were transferred to greenhouse with artificial illumination at 5-day interval from late September to late January. The deepest dormancy of 'Reiko' in Daegu area was found to be on November 5, October 25, and October 31 in 1995, 1996, and 1997, respectively. The time for moving plants to make the plants grow in semi-dormant state in the greenhouse occurred between Nov. 10 and Nov. 20 in both 1995 and 1996, and between Nov. 10 and Nov. 30 in 1997. The time passing approximately 100-200 cumulative hours of exposure to below $5^{\circ}C$ canopy temperature from the peak dormancy, which is required for breaking dormancy of 'Reiko', was between November 16 and 25 in 1996, and November 24 and December 5 in 1997. 'Reiko' yielded high every year when seedlings were moved into greenhouse during the period of October to November. The plants gave good response to forcing culture under lighting. The right time for moving plants into greenhouse in semi-forcing culture appeared to be the time passing 50-150 cumulative hours of exposure to below $5^{\circ}C$ canopy temperature from the peak dormancy.
A new Dendranthema grandiflourm 'My Sun' was developed at Gyeonggi-do Agricultural Research & Extension Services (GARES), Korea in 2009. 'My Sun' was initially derived from the cross in 2005 between 'Omega Time Orange', a potted chrysanthemum cultivar with orange single type, and 'Tasman', a potted chrysanthemum cultivar with white single type in 2005. The cultivar has single type flowers with yellow petals. Trial and evaluation was conducted from 2006 to 2009 for the selection of this variety, including a shading culture in spring and a retarding culture in winter. The flowering time of 'My Sun' was October 13th, and year-round flowering is possible by shading or lighting treatment. The diameter of flower is 21.0 mm. Numbers of flowers per stem and petals per flower are 34.4 and 20.4, respectively. Its leaf color was green (Green Group 137A) and plant height was 13.3 cm. Days to flowering under the short day treatment is about 42 in spring, and numbers of branch per plant was 3.4 ea in the winter. This cultivar was resistance to white rust and consumer's preference of new pot-mum is high level than control.

Chrysanthemum production would benefit from crop growth simulations, which would support decision-making in crop management. Chrysanthemum is a typical short day plant of which floral initiation and development is sensitive to photoperiod. We developed a model to predict phenological development and leaf appearance of chrysanthemum (cv. Baekseon) using daylength (including civil twilight period), air temperature, and management options like light interruption and ethylene treatment as predictor variables. Chrysanthemum development stage (DVS) was divided into juvenile (DVS=1.0), juvenile to budding (DVS=1.33), and budding to flowering (DVS=2.0) phases for which different strategies and variables were used to predict the development toward the end of each phenophase. The juvenile phase was assumed to be completed at a certain leaf number which was estimated as 15.5 and increased by ethylene application to the mother plant before cutting and the transplanted plant after cutting. After juvenile phase, development rate (DVR) before budding and flowering were calculated from temperature and day length response functions, and budding and flowering were completed when the integrated DVR reached 1.33 and 2.0, respectively. In addition the model assumed that leaf appearance terminates just before budding. This model predicted budding date, flowering date, and leaf appearance with acceptable accuracy and precision not only for the calibration data set but also for the validation data set which are independent of the calibration data set.

A new spray chrysanthemum(Dendranthema grandiflorum Ramat.) cultivar 'Yes Uri' was originated from a cross between 'SP03-033-02' and 'SP03-005-04'. This cultivar was tested on the characteristics from 2005 to 2007 for the evaluation and selection including shading and retarding culture. The natural flowering time of 'Yes Uri' is the late October, but year-round production is possible by shading, lighting and retarding culture. This cultivar was pompon in flower type with a color of bright yellow(RHS 7A), 13.8 flowers per plant and 91.5 cm of plant hight. The diameter of flower was 4.4 cm and the preference was high at 4.14 ranged up to 5.00. The days to flowering under the short day was 8 weeks and plant was very vigorous. It had resistance to white rust and showed 23.6 days of vase life in autumn season.
Motivated by the need for developing the more efficient lighting system for light culture of strawberries in the greenhouse, this paper aims at acquiring and suggesting more concrete and scientific foundation of illuminating position, numbers of light source by investigating the types of lighting system and illumination distribution in the greenhouse for light culture of strawberries. The results of investigation and experiment are summarized as following below: 1. The types of lighting system used in the greenhouse producing strawberries were classified as 1 line and 2 lines lighting system. 2. As for the arranging types of artificial light, 2 lines lighting system, were classified as Z-type, N-type and W-type. (Refer Fig. 3) 3. The results of illumination distribution for Z-type, N-type and W-type of 2 lines illuminating system in the greenhouse with a small size tunnel measured at the height of 1.5m from the ground with 220V, 100W lamp in 6m light gap showed that maximum illuminance are 961x, 1211x, 1251x, minimum illuminance are 4.41x, 4.71x, average illuminance are 33.71x, 43.11x, 44.51x and standard deviations are 28.31x, 35.41x, 38.31x at each types. 4. Proportion of the area below optimal illuminance to floor area at the two lines illuminating system of Z-, N-, and W-type in greenhouse were appeared as 39.4%, 26.0% and 26.3%, respectively. Also proportion of the area over optimal illuminance to floor area at the two lines illuminating system of Z-, N-, W-type in greenhouse were appeared as 16.8%, 14% and 14.7%, respectively. Thus N-type was superior to the others from the view points of optimal illumination distribution and energy saving.
This experiment was carried out to investigate the effect of runner development based on production period and to investigate the yield in different cropping type to nursery plant age. In runner development experiment, heating + lighting + $GA_3$ + cluster removal treatment increased the number of runners by 13.1 times higher in spring season than control(heating only) in overwintering mother-plant. Treatment of 20ppm $GA_3$ was the most effective for runner production in autumn. In nursery plant age experiment, 60 days old nursery plants produced more flower cluster than 40 days old ones. This result indicated that the yield potential was so low that overwintering runners would be adaptable for spring or summer cultivation.
